Chapter 146

Book:The Billionaire's Bartered Bride Published:2024-6-2

“Isn’t it pretty?”
Natalie asked pointing at the piece Nicole had her eyes on earlier.
“It is, I am amazed,”
Grace said as they all walked closer to it, it was a painting of a mom holding on to two beautiful babies and it kind of reminded her of their nanny, Nicole wished she was still here, she would have gifted it to her.
“I am getting this and hanging it in our parent’s room,”
Natalie said, Nicole felt bad for thinking about someone else when she saw the photo, Natalie was much more considerate towards their mom than she was and she would work on herself to do more.
“I agree, let’s get this then,”
They both agreed and the piece was theirs, the rest of the event went on successfully, she was proud to know someone like Aron and glad to be part of the success.
“You did great today Aron, I am proud of you,”
Nicole said as the four of them stood outside rom the gallery later that evening.
“Thank you, Nicole, I couldn’t have done it without your help, you guys too, Natalie and Grace, thank you so much,”
“You are welcome,”
The girls said and she smiled, they were coming around, soon they will see what she sees in him.
“You guys go ahead, I will leave a little later, thank you again, for letting me use your gallery,”
“It’s cool, goodnight Aron,”
She said and hugged him, he shared a hug with Grace and Natalie too and they got in the car, leaving him standing there.
“That guy is good, I have to admit,”
Natalie said while they drove home.
“I know right,”
“Even I agree,”
Grace added.
“I told you but you were too busy not liking him,”
Nicole accused.
“Yeah, I agree that I may have misjudged him a little bit but still, he still has a long way to go to redeem himself,”
Grace replied she was so stubborn.
“What about you Natalie, what do you have to say?”
She asked her twinie who had been silent the whole conversation.
“Me? Well, I didn’t really hate or dislike him, I think Grace project her dislike to me and I just didn’t take time to know him, now that I have worked close to him, I can say he is a good guy just not the kind of guy I wanna see every day,”
Natalie said, Nicole couldn’t decide whether it was a compliment or a drag but at least they didn’t hate him, that was a step forward.
“Wait, how did I do that? You were the one that said his vibes aren’t cool,”
Grace said, those two always find a way to bicker these days that she sometimes feels like the third wheel.
“Well, I heard you say it first,”
Natalie replied.
“Nicole, if you don’t mind telling this look-alike, probably a face copier to not blame me I will be glad,”
“Just say she is the evil twin,”
Nicole injected.
“Nah, that will be you, you have all the characters and features of being the evil twin,”
Grace responded. Nicole couldn’t help laughing, she was going to miss this, miss the three of them sitting and just talking nonsense, Grace was returning to Harvard and she and Natalie were going to get busy real soon, her with the gallery and Natalie with the new clothing line she was launching, even though they all agree to meet on weekends and have fun together, she wished they would remain like this, Natalie and Grace had hit off almost the day she introduced them, Grace said it is because they looked alike and she liked her so she was sure to like her twin, Natalie, on the other hand, said she didn’t have a choice than to be friends with her since she stole her twin.
“I don’t want to go back to school,”
Grace lamented breaking the silence in the car.
“Well, you can drop out, Nicole did before so she can give you advice on how to do that,”
Natalie responded.
“Natalie don’t tell her that, she might listen,”
Nicole warned.
“She wants to drop out, give the child what she wants,”
Natalie responded with a sly smile.
“Honestly, should I drop out and start walking as an assistant in your gallery? I am good at those things,”
Grace added.
“Are you serious?”
Nicole asked with concern, she didn’t want her to drop out of school, it would be better if she gets a degree, she would get a better job.
“Nah, I am not, I am just joking, I will miss you guys so much, I had so much fun this holiday,”
“We did too, you are such great company Grace and I am happy that I met you,”
“Me too, Natalie,”
Grace responded, Nicole watched the two of them with a smile on her face, she liked this moment so much, the year was just beginning and she had so much happy and good memories, she hoped the rest of the year will be like that, right now, she was already looking forward to a certain month in the year, she knew that would be one of the best moments of the year, it will either be September or October, the month her baby will be born, she didn’t know what will happen before that month but what she did know was that no matter what happens, she would be fine.
“What’s our soon-to-be mom thinking about?”
Natalie asked.
“Huh? Nothing, I just like having you two with me and I want to keep you with me forever,”
“Aww, that’s so sweet,”
“So? I wanna know, would you tell him?”
Grace suddenly asked. Reminding her of their conversation.
“Yes, I will, but not yet, I am going to wait until the little one is at least four months old,”
“Why? It would be better to tell him now,”
Natalie said.
“Yeah, but I need to prepare myself and that’s how long it will take,”
She responded leaving no room for argument, they rode the rest of the way home in a comfortable silence…
