Chapter 113

Book:The Billionaire's Bartered Bride Published:2024-6-2

“Stay away from that family,”
He said to himself, that was why he got a divorce in the first place, maybe he was starting to forget how that family robbed him of his family and killed his unborn child, he should do well to remember that.
He met Josie at the party, and they both ditched it after spending only a few hours there as Rafael discovered there wasn’t really anyone there that he could talk to concerning getting approval to open his own gold mine, Josie said it was the most boring party ever, they ended up going to a club together and having a good time.
“It was nice meeting you Rafael, and I hope we meet more again, don’t forget to call me alright?”
Josie asked as she pecked him on the cheek
“Sure, Josie, it was nice meeting you too,”
“Honestly, Raf, I haven’t had this much fun at a date in a long time, thank you for being a good company,”
Rafael smiled at her, he had fun too.
“I had fun too,”
“Good night Rafael,”
“Good night,”
He responded and she got off the car, he watched until she was inside the house before telling the driver to drive off, he had to go to work early the next day, he needed sleep, and went straight up to his penthouse, he opened the door and walked in, he felt alone again and regretted not asking Josie to come with him, he needed to get over Nicole and Josie wasn’t so bad, he was able to hold a conversation with her for hours that was a good sign, she had all the green flags he needed, he knew he was going to call her back, get over his lingering feelings for his ex-wife and move on, of course he wasn’t getting married anytime soon or probably never again, getting over his feelings for Nicole was the right thing to do, she was no longer his and he made that happen, even after all the time that has passed after the party in new york, he still couldn’t get the image of Nicole dancing with that man, his hands on her waist and them being so close out of his head, and also, he couldn’t get their conversation that night out of his head either, Nicole appearing on his TV had been like a slap in his gust, crushing everything he thought of her.
“Not again with those thoughts,”
He scolded himself as he got into his bed, she was his past and not so much a pleasant past, it was good at first but turned sour, he should forget the good part and remember only the pains her and her family caused him that way he won’t want her back.
Rafael woke up the next morning to his phone ringing, he grumpily took it ready to shout at his best friend for disturbing his sleep, it wasn’t even time for him to be up yet it was fucking five am.
“Hey man, what happened yesterday, why are there so many photos of you and Josie hitting the papers? And when did you guys become a couple?”
Caleb asked. Rafael facepalm himself, he should have known, the media were on his case and they don’t plan on backing out anytime soon and yesterday, he might have given them a lot of content.
“Rafael,”
“What do you want me to say? You know these people, they don’t talk based on fact, they just write shits in the name of articles, I mean you introduced Josie to me just yesterday,”
“And you guys went clubbing after the party?”
“Huh, yes, she went to see a friend who was there and I was taking her home so we made a stop, didn’t stay long,”
“But you stayed long enough to dance with her and stuff,”
“What? Yes, that’s because she asked me to and I like her company, wait why am I even explaining myself? I can do whatever I want,”
Rafael said, suddenly feeling offended, why did he have to explain his actions, he and Josie were adults and can do whatever they want.
“Well, the headlines are shitty, you should avoid the main entrances today, or better yet stay at home because Josie’s crazy fans are not your regular bloggers and paparazzi, they are crazy for real and they are not pleased by the news,”
Caleb revealed, Rafael rolled his eyes, fans? Teenage jobless boys who are obsessed over a lady they can’t have, well they should bring it on, he didn’t care, he wasn’t going to sit at home because of some fans.
“You really want me to sit home because of some crazy obsessed and jobless boys? Think again, I have a lot on my plate right now, this mining deal is taking so much time, I just want done, it’s not like I don’t have the resources but these crazy people in power are taking so much time,”
He complained to Caleb who said something he couldn’t make out.
“What did you say?”
“I said, they like feeling like God, don’t worry it will turn out fine,”
“I hope so,”
“I know so, I will let you go now, I need to make a stop at the court, I have a few things to sign there,”
He said and ended the call, Caleb was doing so much right now, and Rafael was proud of him for standing up for himself and telling his family he wants to be independent, nothing beats being independent.
“And a dating rumor,”
The voice in his head added, he rolled his eyes, that was nothing, it would fade away in a few days when the next honey gist comes around, the Evans were having a party soon so he could see the focus shifting to them as the media was already going crazy about it, he just hoped he won’t be roped into it too, he didn’t want his name being mentioned with that family again…
