“What?”
He asked shocked, of all the things he expected her to say, that hadn’t come to mind.
“I said that I am pregnant,”
“Yeah, sorry, I heard you the first time, I am just in shock, how did you know? Have you done the test?”
He asked, he didn’t even know if that was the right question to ask.
“Yes, and it’s positive even did a scan to be sure and I am three weeks gone,”
She revealed, she didn’t seem happy about the news though, no she looked worried, was she worried that he might not like the news or was there something else.
“You don’t seem excited about the news?”
He asked, she looked at him and he saw that she was about to cry.
“Hey, baby, don’t cry,”
“I don’t want to I just can’t help it, I am happy, of course, I am happy to be a mum but I was scared you might not be ready, we haven’t even talked about a child yet so,”
He cut her off with his lips on her, kissing away her worries, of course, he was happy about the news even though it came so suddenly, he wanted a family with her, he hasn’t talked about it but he knew that’s what he wanted.
“Of course, I want our baby, and I am thrilled to hear that we are going to be parents,”
Rafael told her when he broke off the kiss, wiping the tears that formed in her eyes off, he wished she can stop doubting his love for her and give him a trusting chance that even if it wasn’t her he originally met, she is still the one he fell for and the one he wants to be with forever.
“Don’t cry baby, I hate to see you cry, I love you and our baby,”
He said placing his hands on her still flat tummy.
“I was so scared, I am sorry I didn’t believe in you,”
“It’s fine, we can work on building that trust okay?”
“Yes,”
“Good, now my big baby, has to rest and not worry about a thing so that our little one can grow well okay?”
“Yes,”
She responded and he hugged her close again.

Finding out they were going to be parents was the best news, Rafael have heard in a while, it came as a surprise a lovely surprise, the best birthday present he could have asked for, he never had plans of having kids but after marrying Nicole and fallen in love with her, it had been on his mind but he hadn’t wanted to rush her so he had kept it to himself, then he got favored, talk about miracles, he needed to treat her to something special, he had been thinking about it all week and he hasn’t come up with anything except a week in Bora Bora, the more he thought about it, the more that was the right choice, they never had their honeymoon so it will be perfect.
Sitting in his office at almost three pm, working on the opening of his new luxury hotel, he thought of gifting the whole thing to Nicole as a push present, his wife was an angel who deserves everything and he would give her everything, his whole world because she came to him and gave him a light he didn’t even know he needed, his life has never been so blessed and colorful.
“Good afternoon sir, it’s good to be back at work after so many months away,”
His personal assistant Armani announced in her usual dramatical way as she walked into his office, she looked different, her usual short hair was replaced with shoulder-length blonde hair, where before it was always black, she looked more beautiful and was smiling prettily.
“Armani, it so good to have you back my dear, I thought you decided to quit, you weren’t taking my calls, I thought you decided to abandon me,”
He said getting up to hug, he has known Armani for so long that she was like a close friend, having her back was so nice.
“Thank you, sir, I am sorry I took so long, but I am back fully now if you will have me back,”
“Of course Armani. I told you to come back anytime, no one can take your place here,”
“Thank you so much, sir, I am sorry I didn’t take any calls, it was so hard taking care of the kid and my sister that I left my phone and life, now they are both doing fine and the baby father finally returned, so I can now be my own person again,”
She explained it was clear that she had a hard time.
“Good to have you back,”
“Wow, your assistant is more important than your best friend?”
Caleb asked entering his office, they haven’t spoken in a while and he didn’t bother to call or text him.
“As if you remember I exist, what brings you here Caleb?”
Armani excused herself and left, Caleb took his seat looking at him grudgingly, Rafael didn’t even care, he had better things to do than entertain Caleb, a friend who goes away when things are not looking cool.
“When they say people change, I never believed until you got married and changed, remember you knew me before your wife,”
“What’s the reason behind this long talk Caleb?”
Rafael asked.
“Nothing, just saying you have changed a lot, you no longer talk or even meet up and other things, we used to have such good times together, can’t remember the last time we did that.”
“Really Caleb? Did you know that I had an accident two months ago and had to stay off work for two whole weeks? And you say you are my best friend? I don’t see you as my friend, I am not gonna lie, you come here when the going fits your needs and that’s it, don’t talk about friendship because you know we are not friends,”
He said, he was done with taking Caleb’s nonsense, he was done with his fake friendship, the only person he can trust is his wife, no one else, trusting people never ends well and he had enough proof of that.
“Wow, so all these while I have been thinking we are friends, you have been seeing me as a nuisance? Rafael, there are people you don’t say such things to, especially people who know your every secret and keep them and defend you, I thought you were my friend, wow, why do I feel betrayed?”
Rafael didn’t have time to deal with a broken man, Caleb wasn’t his friend and that he was sure of, he always has a motive, why else was he always tagging along with him? Except when things are not looking his way, he goes away.
“Caleb, I don’t have the time for this, I feel exactly how I just told you, like it or not it’s better to hear the truth than spend your life believing a lie, I don’t have friends, I don’t do friends people betray people and I don’t want that to happen to me,”
