Chapter 38

Book:The Billionaire's Bartered Bride Published:2024-6-2

The next morning, Nicole woke up to Rafael snores, this was the first time she was waking up next to him since they got married and she couldn’t lie, it was the best feeling in the world, she caressed his face, he had the most perfect face she has ever seen, his eyelashes were long and gave him a calm feel, it felt so nice being this close to him, he was so not what she thought he was, he wasn’t scary, he was thoughtful and understanding, not every man could go months without mating after marriage and yet he gave her enough time to get her act together and when they had met, he showed her just how beautiful their union is, she smiled and leaned down to kiss him softly on his cheek, he didn’t wake up but smuggled close to her, holding her tighter, she let him, enjoying the moment but the beauty of the moment was ruined the moment she thought of this ending, if Natalie either comes back or Rafael find out how fake and unreal this was, he was going to hate her and she just knew it, she didn’t like it, didn’t like the thought of Rafael looking at her in disgust, it would be more painful than Natalie coming back, what if she did come back, how would they go back to their respective lives, they never thought of it because she hadn’t know this would get to this point, she had never thought of how it would be when she give Natalie’s life back to her and go back to her normal life, her studio and her art, she was doing it now anyway, she had a beautiful studio that would go to waste once Natalie returned, Natalie couldn’t do anything with that studio as she didn’t have what Natalie herself called the art eyes and fingers, Nicole had tried to teach her a few times but each time Natalie ended up running away complaining about how hard it was for her to either make a sketch or do a common painting.
Nicole looked at her husband, he was smiling in his sleep, she caressed his lips with her hands and his smile widened, he was awake
“You are awake?”
She let out and he opened his eyes, he kissed her softly on the lips.
“Yes, you were so deep in thoughts, what’s going on in that beautiful brain of yours?”
He asked, kissing her nose, she liked it, liked having him in bed with her, him giving her little kisses.
“Nothing, I was just thinking of the work I have to finish when I get back home,”
She lied
“We still have the whole weekend here, so keep that thought okay?”
“Okay,”
“Good,”
He said kissing her, she felt blissful, this was the perfect way to start the day, making love in the morning, she gave herself to him again, loving every moment of it, she knew she was giving more than her body, she was slowly giving her heart too, she could already feel it, could already feel herself falling for him.
“I think I am going to lose, no, I can’t lose,”
She yelled, running with all her strength, he was catching up so fast even though he started minutes after she did, he was laughing at her and cheering her up, they were having a race competition which he had suggested promising to reward her if she wins or not, but she wanted to win, only thing was running wasn’t one of her greatest asset, in fact, exercise wasn’t but he had said she needed to stay fit, like she cared, her body was the type to take care of itself
“It’s okay to lose wifey, you still get a reward either way,”
“I can’t lose,”
She replied continuing even though she was almost out of breath, he caught up with her a few seconds later and slowed down his place, winking at her before increasing his move and he finished before her, she let out a betrayed snort.
“Come get your reward,”
He let out opening his arms, how did she ever think this man was heartless and ruthless? How could she have misjudged him, she knew better than to judge a book by its cover, he was nice and everything she could picture herself loving. if only he was hers truly if only he could be hers for real.
“Come on Natalie,”
Yeah, he was never going to be hers, he didn’t even know her, he wasn’t married to Nicole neither did he make love to Nicole, it wasn’t her that he was smiling at, everything was Natalie, she should do well to keep that in mind no matter how hard it was going to be.
“Baby, come on,”
She smiled and ran into his arms, he hugged her close.
“What took you so long? Do you enjoy making me wait my lady?”
“Not really,”
If only he knew just how much she wants to run to him the minute he calls, how much his presence was becoming in her life, and how she wanted to keep him with her forever. Well something were never meant to happen and she just have to accept it like that no matter how unfair she thinks it was…
They spent the whole weekend in Blue run, when she found out that was the name, she couldn’t believe it, that wasn’t what he told her on the phone, it was a strange name, he had laughed at her saying she had been hearing things, she loved every moment in blue run and most of all was their love making, Everytime he touched her it was like opening a part of her that she never knew existed until he did, and he was attentive and caring, teaching her things she didn’t know, letting her have her way with him, the weekend was an eye opener to all she has been missing and she had loved it, when they had gone back to the city, it didn’t change, every day was amazing, even though in those amazing moments there were moments she felt afraid and scared that her sister might show up and her fairytale would end and she would have to go back to her real place, but as the days turned to weeks, even that fear left because it was clear Natalie wasn’t going to come back, if only she didn’t have to go by her name, it would have been completely perfect, in all, she didn’t have any regrets, as to what happened and is still happening between them, she decided to give her all to him and just get happy bearing in mind that nothing last forever…
