Nicole walked fast into the restroom, making sure that no one else was around, she brought out her phone, okay not hers, Natalie’s phone, and dialed Natalie’s other line, she waited for her twin to pick up biting her lips.
“Natalie, you have to come right now or I am going to mess things up for you,”
Nicole almost shouted, as her twin picked up the call, she was doing a horrible job portraying her sister and if Rafael was smart he would have noticed the difference already.
“Come on Nicole, you know I can’t, I am in so much pain right now,”
“You don’t get it, do you? They are asking me stuff related to modeling and I keep missing words, Rafael had been looking at me suspiciously, if you don’t show up it might get worse, I don’t want to ruin your relationship Natie,”
Nicole voiced hoping her twin will just for once agree with her.
“Nicole, he doesn’t know me all that much and he thinks I have multiple personalities, so he won’t see a problem with it, the reason he would be looking at you weirdly will probably be because he thinks my other personality which he claims to like more is showing, I can’t come to Nicole, just be natural,”
“Yeah, be natural, if I am going to be natural then I won’t be here because nothing here is me, God I hate you for always doing this to me Natalie,”
“No, you love me, now go back to your date, I have the pain to tend to,”
“Shut up, girl, you should reduce your sugar intake, that might solve your problem,”
“You know that’s not it, you eat just as much sugar as I do, even more, I feel this is the price I have to pay for being the luckiest one of the two of us, and I will bear it, at least I get to take this pain.”
She said, Nicole, rolled her eyes.
“Way to go Natalie , if Rafael ends up finding out we are fooling him, it will be on you, I will just disappear into my studio and not return until ten years have passed, you can’t do without the public so you will face the consequences.”
Nicole replied.
“Okay, but can you be careful, you know you don’t want me to go through all that,”
“You don’t know anything, I have to go, I have been in here for too long,”
She said and ended the call, she checked her reflection in the mirror.
“You are Natalie ,”
She whispered to her reflection, before washing her hands and exiting the restroom
“What took you so long?”
Rafael whispered asked, she forced a smile, and ignored him, he didn’t seem to mind her ignoring him and just let her be, she was thankful and just ate in silence while the others talked.
“Yes, my fiancee is an art lover, main reason I am letting Vhrisma stay is that she loves it there, isn’t it Natalie ?”
He asked, it took Nicole a moment to respond because she didn’t remember she was Natalie .
“Natalie ?”
“Oh, yes, I sure do love art, that’s my baby,”
She said truthfully, art was the only thing that kept her same and alive, she lives and breathes it, she couldn’t go a day without thinking of painting, she had so much test work in her studio at home, talking about art made her forget the awkwardness of this whole meet up, she could say that was the only time she contributed to the conversation, and the old lady was an art lover too, so it made it even more fun and she even promised to make a painting for her, but of course, she knew the real Natalie will have it delivered, it was up to Natalie to decide what she will tell Rafael after tonight because she did warn her to cancel.
“I must say, you impressed me tonight,”
Rafael said as they sat in the car, he was taking her home first, she had offered to go with a cab but he had shut her up stating that there was no way his wife to be will take a cab when he had a car, she had rolled her eyes and almost told him that she was used to cabs, but then again the real Natalie had a drivers license and didn’t do cabs if she is not driving the driver will take her, Nicole was different, she preferred taking taxis.
“Why thank you, kind sir,”
She responded to him.
“Although I must say, you become more active when the conversation was concerning art, I thought by the fact that you were once a model and now manage models you will be more interested in topics related to that,”
“Well, it depends on the mood I am in, right now, I am in my art element,”
“Then you are agreeing to what I said that you have split personalities,”
“No, I don’t,”
“Yes, you do,”
“I do***”
He stopped her next words with an unexpected kiss, it was so unexpected that Nicole pulled back in shock.
“See what I mean? You are avoiding my touch, and you say you do have multiple personalities, on a normal day you kiss me even if I don’t want it, and right now you are avoiding my kiss,”
“I wasn’t avoiding it, I was just shocked I didn’t expect you to kiss me,”
“What are you even saying girl? Do I have to tell, you before I kiss you?”
“Yes, that’s the right thing to do,”
“Wow, Natalie , I keep learning new things about you every day, you are one of a kind woman,”
He said and looked out through the window, Nicolesat back on her seat properly, touching her lips, she had kissed Natalie ‘s fiancee, how would she tell Natalie that? It’s all her fault, she should have listened to her and canceled, but no, she wanted her to play her now see where that had left the both of them, Rafael just took her first kiss, she couldn’t even enjoy the beauty of it because he was her sister’s man, she couldn’t bring herself to say she liked the kiss because that would be betraying her sister plus she didn’t have any other kiss to compare it with, they silently drove to her house, when she made to leave the car, he held her back.
“What? She asked looking at him, the man was hot, she couldn’t deny that also he gave her goosebumps, okay she wasn’t going to accept that part, she was just intimidated by his huge appearance nothing more, it’s had nothing to do with the butterflies that suddenly fled up in their millions inside her when he pulled her closer to him and claimed her lips, no, she didn’t kiss him back, there was no way she did, she was just playing her part, she was Natalie , not Nicole, Natalie was the one kissing Rafael back not her.
“Good night, thank you for today,”
He said when he pulled off her lips, she couldn’t find the words to respond to him.
“You know, you are acting like a virgin right now, a virgin who has never been kissed, and that can’t be possible,”
He said laughing, she wanted to yell at him that she was indeed a virgin and he just stole her first and second kiss without permission.
“Goodnight,”
She said instead and hurriedly got off the car and rang the bell to the huge gate, the security man came out in seconds, she turned to see that Rafael’s car was still there, she waved at it and ran into the mansion, walking like someone who had seen a ghost into the house and straight into her room, she couldn’t face Natalie like this, not when she just made out with her soon to be husband, she texted her on shaking hands instead and it seemed Natalie was asleep because she didn’t respond to the text, Nicole went into her restroom, stared at her flustered face in the mirror, she couldn’t recognize the woman staring back at her, she touched her lips, they were slightly swollen from Rafael’s demanding kiss.
“He didn’t kiss you, he kissed Natalie , okay?”
She told herself as she blushed hard remembering how his lips felt on hers.
“This is wrong Nicole, he is your sister’s man,”
She told herself willing her heart to calm down, she shouldn’t be thinking of the kiss she shared with her sister’s man, it was wrong, she knew it happened because he had thought she was Natalie but still it felt like she had betrayed her sister, she shouldn’t have let him kiss her, she should have stopped him, how was she going to face Natalie and tell her she kissed her husband to be, no woman will like that.
“It’s her fault anyway,”
She told herself as she washed the make-up off her face, wiped it as much as she could before going back to her room to remove it completely.
“I messed up and Natalie is gonna hate me,”
She said to herself, she knew she was going to tell her sister, she couldn’t lie, what if Rafael refers to the kiss later and Natalie finds out from him, she would hate her even more, she will tell her and if she ends up hating her she will tell her it’s her fault…
