The driver watched as Nilson dragged the woman inside and, though overcome with shock, slammed the back seat door shut, picked up the umbrella, sat in the driver’s seat, and started the car, which filled with Estela’s cries.
-Give me back Estela!
-How do you carry a child? Don’t you know how to use an umbrella when it rains? Rain’s voice rang out at the same time as Nilson’s, and hearing his accusation, Rain became even more enraged and looked at Nilson, with the retort that had come to his mouth stuck in his throat….
I saw Nilson holding Estela in his arms, with a tissue in one hand, carefully wiping the water from Estela’s face, moving gently as if she were a pinch of powdered dough, watching her shiver and rushing up the air conditioner….
Estela’s crying gradually ceased, looking curiously at the person holding her, big eyes still with tears in them, especially lush black hair with a bit of natural curl, impeccably tuned nose and mouth, wearing a pink onesie outfit, soft and cuddly, she even found the little boy in her arms even more attractive than Mike….
The man radiated a faint warmth…..
Rain looked at Nilson with her heart beating a little faster, and halfway through, she came back to herself, remembering what he had just said, and, furious, she reached out and hugged Estela back.
-Mr. Nilson, are you the police of the Pacific? That’s out of line, how I take my children is my business, not yours! Stop the car, I want to get out!
With an emptiness in his arms, Nilson came back to himself, which made him feel that his reaction and actions were simply unbelievable, he turned his eyes away from the little baby’s body, looked out the car window, where it was pouring rain, and asked in a cold voice:
-Are you sure you want to go out in that rain and have the baby get sick?
As she spoke, Estela cried again, her little hands raised and waving in the air…..
Rain looked down at the child in her arms and also looked out the window, distressed and anxious, she reached out to check her clothes, luckily, they were thick enough and with her own covering, she didn’t get too wet, and replied without a good sulk:
-It’s none of your business either, stop the car, I’m coming down!
Nilson frowned, thinking that maybe his actions had made her misunderstand him, and he himself found it unbelievable, explaining it to her:
-Doctor Lluvia don’t misunderstand me, I’m only taking her with me for Moya’s sake. In fact, there was another reason, probably because I didn’t want the baby I was carrying to get wet?
Did hugging Mike today bring out a sudden rush of love in him?
Rain didn’t mind arguing with him about his general child-stealing behavior and putting her in the car without permission, and seeing that he remained impassive, she turned to the driver in front of her with some urgency and said:
-Mr. driver, please stop at the intersection in front of you, please.
Naturally, he did not dare to make the decision without the City Lord’s word.
So Lluvia watched as the car “whizzed” past the intersection…..
Rain grew increasingly heated, frowning at Nilson in an irritated tone.
-Mr. Nilson, I don’t see you as a nutcase, I don’t want to go to…..
-What’s wrong with him? Why won’t he stop crying?
Nilson ignored Rain’s words and looked at the crying Estela, frowning as he interrupted her.
Hearing her cries, Nilson felt an inexplicable hardness in his heart, whether it was impatience or a strong desire to make her stop?
Is it also from hugging Mike?
Didn’t he know how much she liked children?
Rain also unconsciously looked at the Stele crying, heartbroken, just afraid of rain, just to run home, do not want to catch up not to say, and even collided with this person?
Nilson suddenly reacted to see Estela open her little mouth and cry while blindly gnawing back and forth.
-Are you hungry?
Lluvia regrets even more that she didn’t stay a little longer in the hospital….
As if thinking of his difficulty, Nilson bent down and squeezed the compartment with the front seat, squinting and looking out the car window, his voice a bit unnatural.
-Feed him. Lluvia refused, she was not going to breastfeed Estela in front of that man, shaking his arm and coaxing her gently:
-Estela don’t cry, let’s go home to drink milk again ok…..
Suddenly she felt a warmth in her body, a jacket with an unmistakable masculine scent on her shoulders, and she looked up to see that Nilson was only wearing a white shirt, which brushed her eyes.
-Cover up if you’re not sure. He was actually tempted to say something about who would be interested in your body, but he thought if he said it, she would inevitably get angry, so he had to swallow it…..
Rain was about to refuse when he was surprised to see her red ears, and his words were replaced by a sneer:
-Huh, I can’t tell, Mr. Nilson is quite innocent, and now you’re blushing? You’re uncomfortable too, aren’t you?
Nilson looked out the car window and coughed dryly.
-Doctor Lluvia saw him why bother to say it?
Now Lluvia was speechless and simply stopped talking, straightening her jacket over her shoulders to block the area that would be exposed, before lifting her shirt to nurse Estela….
Estela’s sharp nature haunts her and she can cry until she burps when she is hungry and is a minute late for lunch….
The car was silent, there was no music, and the sound of the baby drinking and swallowing, and her contented humming were particularly clear in the separate space of the back seat….
The sound of a baby drinking milk….
Nilson’s breath caught a couple of times, and certain images flashed through his mind, wondering if he was crazy for finding that sound ambiguous….
Then, a warm feeling came over his body and Nilson was more than sure that he must be crazy. Unconsciously, he tried to open the window to air out the room and then remembered that it was pouring rain outside….
Nilson folded his long legs, leaned back against the seatback, head to the car window and closed his eyes to listen to the rain outside, but Rain’s voice rang in his ears as she lectured her daughter:
-Estela, do you think you’re starving, what if you eat later? Look at you eating like that, I’m really worried you’ll grow a little fat, and besides, it was just the street you know? Where am I going to find a place to breastfeed you? The next time you tell me off like that, I won’t let you go! Nilson had an inexplicable urge to laugh when he heard her suddenly say to herself:
-Well, Nilson, I’m not up for the night, I don’t want to go to Moya’s house, find a place to lie down, please. Nilson opened his eyes, he had always thought that Lluvia was about to take a cab to go to Micaela’s house, but no?
I vaguely remember her saying not to go before?
She looked toward him, Lluvia had her suit jacket over her, the wide jacket covering her body….
Turning her gaze away, she asked:
-Are you staying with your husband again?
Then it occurred to me that she had just heard comments in front of that office, all over the hospital, that no one had seen her husband….
-No….
Rain hadn’t even finished the sentence when the car stopped, followed by the driver’s deliberately louder voice:
-Lord of the City, you’re here.
