The sound of the glass shattering was so clear that Micaela, Alba and Olivia’s mother froze for a moment. After coming to her senses, the mother comforted her daughter:
-“Girl, it’s okay. Let me clean up the broken pieces.
With that, she turned back to the broom.
Olivia unconsciously bent down to reach for the broken glass.
Micaela stopped her and said:
-Olivia, don’t touch…..
But it was too late.
-Ah!” Olivia exclaimed and quickly withdrew her hand.
Instantly, blood was seen gushing from her fingertip.
Micaela picked Olivia up and carried her to a clean place without broken pieces of glass. And Alba wiped the blood from her fingertip with a handkerchief, examined the wound closely and said in relief:
-Luckily the cut is not very deep.
Micaela took out some paper towels to wipe the spilled milk on Olivia’s wedding dress.
Olivia’s mother came over with the mop and wiped the milk and blood stained tiles. Then she grumbled:
-You’re going to be Leonardo’s wife soon, but you’re still so immature and restless, like a child.
Olivia looked at the spilled milk and broken glass on the floor and felt some concern.
The glass was broken, and her finger was bleeding, which was not a good sign.
Micaela noticed the concern on Olivia’s face and was quick to say:
-Olivia, don’t overthink it. It’s just a pure accident.
Alba added aside to reassure her:
-We are all educated people, endowed with scientific knowledge. Olivia, don’t be superstitious.
The bride’s mother was stunned and showed some uneasiness on her face.
“On such a happy day, is it right that something like this happened?”
After hesitating for a while, she stepped forward to calm her daughter, as well as herself:
-Alba and Micaela are right. It’s just a broken glass. It doesn’t matter, and I’m going to get you another glass of milk.
Olivia suppressed the discomfort inside and nodded her head.
After half an hour, Leonardo’s fleet of cars arrived. A few dozen limousines were parked in pomp outside Olivia’s house, which was unprecedented in Olivia’s small hometown.
Olivia was slightly relieved to hear the cheerful music and the sound of firecrackers outside.
Alba and Micaela caught the festive mood and became very excited.
Alba, who was always a lot of fun, had planned a special show. Immediately, she went to bring Olivia’s little cousin, who was wearing a wedding dress, put a headscarf on him that could cover his face and let him sit on Olivia’s bed.
Gee, it turned out that Alba wanted Olivia’s cousin to dress up as the bride in order to play devilish pranks on Leonardo.
Seeing this, Olivia and Micaela felt that such a “show” was a bit ridiculous, but at the same time they expectantly wanted to see how the groom would react to discovering that his “bride” was a boy.
-Well, Olivia, you and Mica go wait in the next room and I’m here to take control of the situation for you.
Micaela smilingly went into the next room with Olivia.
In a few moments, the groom and the two groomsmen, along with many relatives, came upstairs.
Leonardo tried to push the door to enter, found it locked and immediately pulled out a package of gifts he had prepared to “bribe” the bridesmaids. Unexpectedly, Alba answered inside the door:
-There is no need for gifts. Mr. Groom, please answer my carefully prepared questions, I want to see how well you know Olivia and I will decide whether to open the door depending on your answers!
Ernesto couldn’t help but draw a smile on his lips at seeing his own bride being so naughty.
Alba threw a few questions in a row at Leonardo, ranging from height, measurements, Olivia’s hobbies to her grades for the university entrance exams, which put Leonardo in a rather awkward situation.
Those present burst out laughing several times.
Ernesto chuckled under his breath as he saw Leonardo searching for answers, scratching his head with an embarrassed expression.
“Ha ha ha ha ha, my girlfriend is so nice and smart!”
Finally, after ten or so questions, the door opened.
Carlos examined the room as soon as he entered, but did not see his Mica. And seeing the “girlfriend” sitting on the bed in a bedroom, he frowned slightly and headed outside.
In the next room, Olivia was sitting cross-legged on the bed, together with Micaela, curiously listening to what was going on outside the door.
-Micaela, go out and have a look around. It should be quite fun.
Micaela nodded and went to open the door, and just as she opened it she saw Carlos standing in front of the door, with the gesture of knocking.
They were both amazed. Carlos gave a soft smile and stared at his beloved wife.
Micaela was wearing a pink dress, with her long hair falling over her delicate shoulders, and she looked very beautiful and elegant.
She said to him affectionately:
-Carlos, you are accompanying the groom to pick up the bride today, aren’t you?
-No, I’m here to pick up my “bride”,” Carlos whispered in her ear, smelling the familiar fragrance of her hair.
Micaela blushed instantly, reached over to hug him for a moment and gently pushed him away:
-It’s not right if they see us hugging each other here.
Carlos gave her a kiss on the lips and looked deeply at her again before releasing her and heading for the next door.
Micaela returned to the bed and Olivia smilingly told her:
-Micaela, hurry up and marry Carlos. Look how affectionate he is with you.
Micaela put the bridal veil on her blushing face and said:
-Shut up and wait for your husband to come and get you!
As soon as Leonardo entered the room and saw the “bride” sitting on the bed in her white dress, he wanted to go and hug her immediately, but Alba stopped him and said:
-Mr. Groom, don’t be in a hurry. Since you have done well in answering the questions, I can give you a prize.
Leonardo asked with a curious look.
-What prize?
Alba explained with a big smile on her face:
-You can kiss the bride! But you have to close your eyes and I will raise the bride’s headscarf for you. And it’s up to you if you can kiss the bride or not.
Leonardo said smiling:
-That’s very easy!
After saying that, he stood on the edge of the bed, leaned slightly and closed his eyes.
-You only have one chance. If you don’t kiss the bride on the lips, you will have to be punished! -Alba reminded him, laughing from ear to ear.
Then she held up the headscarf to the “bride”.
Wow!
Ernesto almost blurted out profanities when he saw that the “bride” was a boy. Then he looked at Alba with admiration.
“Alba, you’re really good at playing practical jokes!”
Olivia’s younger cousin, seeing the brother-in-law coming at him with his eyes closed, made a helpless face as he unconsciously leaned back and had his eyes tightly shut.
Everyone around was chuckling under their breath and holding up their phones, recording videos.
Just as Leonardo was about to touch the supposed bride, he sensed that something was wrong and that the smell in front of him was not Olivia’s.
He opened his eyes sharply and took a big step back, horrified to see that the bride in front of him was a young boy.
Everyone in the room burst out laughing.
Alba nodded in satisfaction and said:
-Very good. Leonardo, you don’t have the wrong person, now you can go to the next room and look for Olivia!
Leonardo felt angry and amused at the same time for almost kissing a boy.
Looking at Alba and then at Ernesto, he warned them:
-Ernesto, when you marry Alba, you’ll see what I’ll do to you!
Ernesto stepped forward, took Alba in his arms and said smiling:
-Ha, ha, ha, you can do whatever you want to us.
Leonardo turned to the next door and pushed it open. Micaela was standing at the edge of the bed, and the bride was sitting moderately on the bed. Leonardo approached cautiously. Although the figure resembled Olivia’s and his face could be vaguely seen under the veil, Leonardo still carefully lifted the bride’s headscarf to confirm. Until he saw that the person under the veil was none other than his Olivia, then he was relieved.
-Honey, I’ve found you.
Olivia looked up at him smiling. Leonardo was handsome and dignified in his groom’s suit and happiness was about to flood her, but suddenly the uneasiness of having broken the glass came flooding back.
Leonardo, with a smile on his lips, knelt down, put Olivia’s shoes on, hugged her, turned and walked out and down the stairs.
Olivia wrapped her arms around his neck and looked up at Leonardo, who stood so close, a happy smile on his face and hugged her tightly.
Olivia took a deep breath and suppressed the uneasiness inside.
“I must have overthought it. Today is the happiest day of my life and it’s nothing to break a single glass. “
