Olivia sat on the edge of her bed in her pajamas, staring at the ticket in her hand, and thanked Daniel again. If it hadn’t been for his help, she wouldn’t have been able to get the ticket to Micaela’s fashion show tomorrow herself.
She put the ticket on the nightstand, remembering the days when she herself still worked as Micaela’s makeup artist. She really missed the times she had spent with Micaela, which could be considered one of the most enjoyable and happy times of her life.
Olivia planned to head to her next after seeing Micaela’s catwalk. Since she had accommodated her parents, she decided to travel more to get richer.
Her parents agreed with her decision, with only one condition that she would never be with that man again.
Olivia promised them.
Despite drifting, Olivia had been studying to get rich. She met Daniel in the country of her last trip. Daniel was a well-known makeup artist in the makeup world, but he was low profile.
Olivia and he were very much alike in many ways. They both had the same career and many common themes to share. At the time, Daniel was on a field trip, researching popular makeup looks from different countries. Upon learning that Olivia was also a fairly skilled makeup artist, he was very excited and invited her to travel with him. In this way, the two of them were on the road together.
Olivia had learned a lot from being with him and was very grateful that fate had made her meet this talented man.
She turned out the lights, ready to go to bed, when suddenly there was a knock at the door.
Olivia turned the light back on wondering what Daniel wanted at this time of night. She quickly put on a coat, zipped it up tightly before heading for the door. She was about to open it when a thought suddenly occurred to her, “What if it’s not Daniel knocking on the door?”
After all, she was a weak woman and it was best to be cautious in a foreign country, so she asked:
-Who is it?
She received no answer, and suddenly realized that she was now in Catyblaca Nation, and hastened to ask again in English. And the answer she received this time was a knocking on the door.
Olivia became nervous and now she could be sure that the person outside was not Daniel.
Besides, she had only been in Catyblaca Nation for a week and the new friends from the makeup world didn’t know she was staying here, so the person outside the door could be a malicious stranger!
Just as Olivia was about to relieve herself, that person knocked on the door again. Instantly, Olivia tensed, gripping the knob, and warned loudly:
-Get out now or I’ll call the police!
She thought the man would have the good sense to leave, but instead, a familiar, gravelly voice that made her heart ache came through the door:
-Olivia, it’s me, Leonardo.
Olivia was taken aback, wondering if she had heard wrong, and inevitably touched the doorknob.
“No, Olivia, you can’t open the door…”
She pulled her hand away. He had broken her heart into pieces, and, because of him, both her father and mother had been fired from the school. After a lifetime as teachers, what mattered most to them was reputation, yet, because of her own fault, the rebellious daughter, her parents had suffered many humiliations….
It had cost her so much to take the first step, as long as she endured and did not return to the country, everything would gradually get better.
Another voice rang in her mind:
“Why are you here, have you come to Catyblaca Nation on business, is it a coincidence or did you try to find me?”
Then she snagged a self-deprecating smile and mentally said to herself:
“How could he possibly have come especially to look for you? Olivia, don’t daydream.”
The image of Natalia intimately in his embrace in her pajamas popped into her mind. That picture was still stored on her phone!
-Olivia, open the door, can we talk? -Leonardo’s voice sounded outside.
“Talk? What else is there to talk about? Talk about you falling in love with Natalia after a night of passion? Or talk about taking me back to Teladia and continuing to antagonize your mother?”
She’d had it all figured out. Olivia took a deep breath and replied in a calm voice:
-I have nothing to talk to you about. Just go away.
A door away, Leonardo leaned against the wall with one hand, and clenched his fist with the other, wondering if that blond-haired man was inside. Letting himself be carried away by jealousy, he uttered the words recklessly:
-Are you afraid to open the door so that I can see that man in your room?
His fist clenched tighter. Obviously, he believed that man was inside, but at the same time he hoped Olivia would deny it.
“Man?”
Olivia reacted, and instantly understood that Leonardo was talking about Daniel.
“Have you met Daniel, did you suspect that Daniel lives here with me? Heh, what kind of women am I in your heart?”
Repressing aggravation and anger, he replied after a good while:
-That’s right, I don’t want to cause you misunderstanding. Mr. Pinto, please go away now!
At his words, Leonardo felt so pained that he was almost short of breath, covering his chest with one hand and leaning slightly against the wall.
“It’s really true! Olivia, how can you be so cruel to me?”
Olivia leaned her back against the door, tears sliding out of control down her delicate cheeks.
This man was so petty that he wouldn’t allow himself to see that she had any intimacy with another man. If he still had feelings for her, he should be enraged by those words she had thrown out.
Olivia wiped away her tears and turned away, complaining for the first time why there wasn’t a cat’s eye on the door of this hotel. She wanted to take a look at that man outside.
Silence reigned outside the door again, with no more sound, and Olivia couldn’t help but be crestfallen.
“Heh, he’s always been proud and cocky. After stooping so many times to hold me back, he should be sick of me, shouldn’t he?”
With both hands against the door, Olivia put her head on the backs of her hands and tears slid down her cheeks and fell to the carpet. Like that she remained in the doorway for almost an hour, maybe two hours, unwilling to move.
“He was standing right in front of the door, and I was so close to him…. After hearing what I said, he shouldn’t show up in front of me again, should he? Well, that will be the best outcome for both of us. After all, he and I are doomed not to be happy…”
He wanted to turn over and go back to sleep, but his hand, as if he had his own conscience, inadvertently opened the door.
Instantly, a tall, strong figure burst in, and caught her in its embrace. Olivia’s heart skipped a beat, and before she could see the figure’s face clearly, she fell into his arms, and for a moment a familiar scent wafted into her nostrils, making her feel as if she were in a dream.
“He opened the door, he opened the door at last!”
Leonardo was filled with joy and hugged her tightly, but he still remembered what she had said that blond-haired man was still here, so he resisted releasing the woman in his arms, and took a few steps inside to examine the room. The room wasn’t large, and there was no one else in it besides Olivia.
“You lied to me!”
Leonardo became even happier.
Coming to, Olivia tried to push him away, but when she looked up, he sealed his lips with a kiss before she could speak.
