THE SURGERY

Book:THE CEO'S PET Published:2024-6-2

Ever since the brawl happened between Joseph and Tom, Joseph never came home. He was sleeping at the company’s hotel, thinking very hard of his next plan since everything seems to not be working for him.
Charles was out of the town for a business event so he could not call him out for a drink. He kept drinking alone in the room until his secretary came around with a bag of flasks. With a disgusted expression, he raised his eyes to question what it was and who it was from.
“Your mother sent this to you, she told you not to starve and come home soon” the secretary said to him and he slapped the bag away in annoyance. A loud yell followed as he scattered everywhere, thanks to his drunkenness contributing to his madness.
“Why is she so nosy? Why is she trying hard to make me her son? I can never be her son so she should fuck off! I will make sure they both pay for trying to mess with me so she better stop sending trashes like this, hoping I will change my mind” he shouted on top of his voice.
The secretary who wasn’t surprised just picked up the bag and went out of the room, leaving him to deal with the mess.
He was still heaving and growling hard when his father’s call came through. He was hesitant at first but when it rang the second time, he had no choice but to pick up.
He was greeted by his harsh voice as soon as he clicked the receiver’s icon, his father just landed back in Chicago and went to the company to discuss some business plans he had for Holland Chemicals only to be told that Joseph haven’t come to work for the past three days.
“Are you out of your senses? Are you trying to ruin my hard earned company? If you are not competent then resign so I can employ someone competent enough” he yelled at him and the alcohol flew away from his face within seconds.
His father rarely gets angry at him but he knew he has reached his limit when he heard his angry voice. He had been sulking about not being able to get Tom on his own and figured out that this is the time to ask for his father’s help.
“If you don’t get here within thirty minutes, I will consider that you have resigned” his father threatened and with a flash, he dashed into the bathroom.
Rushing through a quick shower, he got ready and sped to the company to see his father waiting for him at his office. He tendered his apology first before anything and his father only groaned in return.
“Ark Chemicals will be investing in our company soon and when that is done successfully, we can push for you to become the chairman because it is high time I rested” his father announced.
He couldn’t believe his ears, he was still thinking about how to ask for his father’s help but now that his father has extended his hand willingly, he has no issue anymore except with one person. “But what of Tom? Will he stay calm and let me have the position without doing anything?” was the next question that flew out of his mouth.
Chairman Holland only laughed at his statement, “This is why I always tell you not to do anything unnecessary because I have my own plans. I told you then that I will fix you to your original position when the time comes and here we are, the time is gradually approaching” Chairman Holland responded and Joseph folded his fist in happiness as smile spread all over his lips.
“Just do fine with this place and produce great results then no one will be able to oppose you when I nominate you” his father assured him before taking his leave.

It was another outing session for the rich madams and they were all waiting for Anita to join them so they would proceed to the mall where they would shop as always. One of them glanced at her wristwatch and scoffed, “She’s always coming late purposely because she has the power at the mall, she’s only an unregistered wife, and how dare she make us wait?” she complained and the others supported as the badmouthing session began.
“I wonder if she feels no shame for living with a man who is not her husband, I would have moved out it were me. I guess because it’s because of her son who has been trapped in the family registration” another pitched in.
“At least, she can be our tacky genie who makes our shopping wish come true” the last woman stated and they all chuckled just as the door opened to show Anita coming in.
With a wide smile, she greeted them and apologized. “I am sorry for keeping you waiting, you must have been upset right? I had to attend to something quickly” she said to them and took her seat.
“Well we understand that you have to cook and clean the house since that is what you are best at” one of them remarked but she only smiled at her statement before motioning for them to stand up
“We should get going” she said and they all moved out in their respective cars.
They had previously planned to get their nails done at one of the shops after shopping but will leave Anita out of the picture since they only needed her for shopping. They got to the mall and they were attended to by Amber who was luckily on the mall floor to fix some things when they arrived.
She took them on a tour of the mall and explained each items to them whenever they pointed to them. They finally finished shopping after two hours and marched to the counter to pay when Anita stretched forth her card to pay.
“Please remove all the prices in full” she requested to their surprise and they all glanced at each other. Her card was swiped and she stepped aside for them to pay.
They were mouthing to her if she wouldn’t tell the staff about the discount but she ignored them. “Were you expecting me to ask for a discount? Oh no! I will never ask for that anymore. You are all shamelessly asking for a discount even when your husbands register you as their real wives. How shameless can you all be to smile with me and suck up to me for discounts but talk trash about me whenever I am absent. I have always known about your stupid cohorts but I only bear with it because I didn’t want my son to lose face. You all are always going on about your stupid rich wives association but you are all just brood of vipers with poisonous thoughts” she lashed at them to their surprise.
“I am no longer interested in a parasitic relationship so I am cutting off all ties with you all. I will support my son in the best way I can so never contact me again if you don’t want trouble” she added and marched out.
She remembered that she had forgotten a line out of what she wanted to say and went back to finish it, “Also, I cook and clean because I enjoy doing so. At least, I feed myself healthy meals when I want and however I want it. I am not like you all who starve to death if the chef is absent, you don’t even know how to boil water successfully, how dare you talk down on someone good with a knife? The next time I see any of you in my face, I will chop off your fingers like diced carrots” she threatened and turned to take a final leave.
The sound of chopping their fingers off like carrots made them sweat unconsciously as they all clenched their fingers into their palms. The sudden attack Anita had on them was too much for them to bear, they were not expecting a public disgrace like that. It made them too stunned to speak or even retaliate and with the many eyes on them, they felt so embarrassed.
“Are you going to pay ma’am? We have to attend to others” the staff spoke up and they threw their cards on the table. “Everything in full” they shouted but the staff only smiled.
“I was going to do that anyways” she murmured, trying hard to conceal her snort.
Immediately they all went out with their goods, the staffs burst into a big laughing session. They had always wondered why Anita couldn’t speak up when it was obvious that they were leeching on the privilege that she’s the CEO’s son but now that she cut them off, they were glad on her behalf.
“Both the mother and the son are fierce” Amber remarked with a smile before picking up the ringing phone.
“Your mother will be going in for surgery soon” the nurse informed her and she rushed to her desk to pick up her bag before dashing to the hospital.
