Chapter 69 The Treatment Price

When Brenda saw the same expression on Monique’s face, she sighed.
“The doctor said that there is no hope of curing it, but if Mr. Yip hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have known about it until now. Maybe he has a way. Please help me, Miss Ching.”
Monique did not know if Brucille had any solutions in mind, but she knew that she herself could do nothing to cure this incurable disease.
She entered Brucille’s room again.
She pushed the door open and said, “What’s wrong with you? How could you directly tell a person that she was dying? Have you ever considered whether she could take it or not?”
“So I’m supposed to lie to her and tell her she can live for ten more years, then watch her die after two weeks? Then repent at her grave when that happens?” Brucille asked nonchalantly.
Monique did not expect this fellow to say such things to refute her. She continued to ask, “Tell me honestly, do you have a way to cure her?”
“Of course, but she’ll have to use all her riches to exchange for her life, if she’s even willing to do that.” Brucille replied.
Monique raised her little fist and gave Brucille’s chest several punches. “If you don’t stop fooling around, you’ll sleep downstairs forever.”
Brucille suddenly felt the kind of excitement that came from getting one’s life sentence changed to limited-term imprisonment. He sat up on the bed right away and stared straight at Monique with his two eyes.
Hesitantly, he said, “Although it’s not permanent anymore, I still don’t know how long this will last.”
Monique said bashfully, “I’ll only consider this when I’m in a good mood. Do you think I’ll be in a good mood with a dying woman sitting in my house?”
Brucille immediately gave a thumbs up and said with great admiration, “Alright, I can see that my journey to sleep upstairs will be harder than going to the moon. I will save her.”
Monique once again gave him a radiant smile. She realized that she did not need to be as loud as she used to be in the past to make Brucille listen to her.
These kinds of small happiness were filling up her heart little by little.
Brenda was on the verge of breaking down after learning that she was terminally ill. When she saw Brucille walk out, her face was full of hope.
“Mr. Yip.” she greeted.
“I can try to treat your illness, but it’ll cost a lot. I want to know how much money you’ll have after you convert all your assets into cash.” Brucille said without beating around the bush.
Monique, who was standing behind him, did not expect him to ask such a frank question. This was literally a robbery!
Brenda replied, “I have a factory. If it is converted into cash, it should be worth more than 50 million yuan.”
“Alright, I want 10 million yuan. You won’t be able to take it with you when you die anyways. I believe that money is worthless to you compared to your life.” he said.
Brenda asked, “How certain are you that you can cure my illness?”
Brucille said, “If you pay me 10 million yuan, I’m fifty percent certain. But if you pay 20 million yuan, then I’m a hundred percent certain.”
Monique and her father, Tyrion, were completely mind-blown. They felt that Brucille was like a bandit taking advantage of someone’s unfavorable situation, but Brenda actually agreed.
She said, “Okay, if you can cure my illness, I am willing to give you half of my company shares, but I have no cash to give you.”
Brucille was in need of cash, not shares. He was in the midst of kick starting his business, and he didn’t have much extra money in his hands. What’s more, he needed a lot of money for his shares.
He had to expand the principal funds by at least a 100 times; a million yuan wouldn’t earn him the money he needed.
If the principal fund was ten million yuan, even if it was only expanded by ten, it would be at least a hundred million yuan, which would be truly amazing.
He asked indecisively, “In this case, tell me, how much cash can you pay me?”
“Five million.” Brenda said after careful consideration.
Monique was afraid that Brucille would say something horrible again, so she simply sat next to Brucille, grabbed his hand and said, “Brucille, that’s enough. Do you even need that much money?”
Her pair of watery eyes reflected on Brucille’s pupils. He could feel this woman pinch his inner thigh so hard that a bruise was forming.
“Alright, alright. I accept. Transfer five million yuan to my bank account, and I’ll treat you in person tomorrow. I can’t do it today as I have an appointment with someone else.” Brucille said reluctantly.
After seeing Brenda off, Monique questioned angrily, “Brucille, are you crazy? How can you say something like that to someone who’s about to die? Don’t you think it’s unethical to ask for so much money when you didn’t even do anything?”
Brucille squinted his eyes at his father-in-law and said, “Father, look at what Monique is saying! I’m saving her life, so how is it that I’m not doing anything? If she were to die, what was the point of her keeping that much money? At the very least, she can still spend it if she’s alive.”
“Come to think of it, I’ve been as kind as I could. If I had insisted on her paying me 20 million yuan, she would’ve probably sold her company. Do you believe that?”
Tyrion rubbed his chin and said, “I do believe you. But it’s like what Monique said, it’s better to save a life then let them die if you have the ability to do so. You should take it as a kind gesture and not take advantage of the situation.”
Monique was more worried about whether or not Brucille was able to cure her. She warned him, “You’d better keep your promise. If you fail to treat her, she’ll haunt you as a ghost after she dies. Just you wait.”
After that, Monique took her father to work.
Brucille felt a chill run down his spine. “Who in the world would curse their husband like that? What do you mean haunt me as a ghost…”
He had an appointment to treat Gordan Zang’s father, Master Zang, today. This time he was determined to not ask for money, but instead, he was going to wait for them to offer to pay him. He wouldn’t be taking advantage of others this way.
Twenty minutes later, he arrived at the Zang Villa. Gordan personally welcomed Brucille at the entrance of the villa.
“Oh, Brucille, we’re so sorry to bother you. I could’ve gotten my driver to pick you up, but you didn’t want that.” Gordan said
“Mr. Zang, my wife wouldn’t like that, and she’d probably nag at me if she sees it. Simmer these medicinal herbs and get your father to take them. I’ll go and see how he is doing first.” Brucille said.
The moment he entered the room, Brucille saw two doctors sitting by Master Zang’s bed, feeling his pulse.
His face darkened in a flash. “Mr Zang, it seems that you don’t believe in my medical skills. If that’s the case, I’ll be on my way.”
Gordan quickly stopped Brucille. He explained, “Brucille, it’s not like that at all. Listen to me, my brother was the one who invited these experts, not me. I trust you very much.”
Gordan’s brother, who was standing nearby, was unhappy when he heard his brother say this.
“Brother, this is the chief medical expert of the Julesburg Medical College. He has had to deal with difficult and complicated illnesses for over 30 years. He’s much more reliable than some non-scientifically proven magic doctor.” Gordan’s brother scorned.
“Besides, our father’s body is so precious, how could you get a nobody to treat his illness? This news will sound terrible if it gets out. They’ll say that the Zang family has no money to hire good doctors!” he continued.
Gordan didn’t expect his brother to say such a thing.
Brucille snorted coldly and said, “This is for the best then. I hope Master Zang won’t bother me anymore in the future.”
