Brucille did not lower his voice when he spoke. Therefore, the two men standing before him could hear him clearly.
However, Tyrion thought that Brucille was just bluffing. Alan was even more of an expert than him when it came to exotic flowers. He was passionate about orchids and walnuts.
Only rich people could afford to collect walnuts. They would select some good-looking walnuts and refine it, making it collectible. Sometimes, a single walnut could cost up to tens of thousands. Many rich people would go crazy about it.
Alan was not happy with Brucille’s claim. He retorted, “You must be Tyrion’s son-in-law. I heard that you’re a freeloader in the family. That Ghost Orchid you are holding is almost dead. How dare you talk to me like that? I’m older than you!”
It was not a concern for Alan to speak to Brucille in a condescending tone. After all, he was an elderly person, a senior to be respected.
Nevertheless, Brucille insisted, “Mr. Kwon, what I have just said is true. This isn’t an ordinary Ghost Orchid.”
Alan took him seriously. Putting down his Emerald Orchid, he approached Brucille and studied the plant carefully.
However, his laughter grew in volume after he took a look.
“You don’t know anything, young chap. You think you’ve found a treasure. Look closer. Isn’t it just a normal Ghost Orchid? Also, it looks like it’s dying. Since it’s only a little sprout, I don’t think it’ll bloom this year.”
Feeling very distressed, Brucille quickly took back the plant from Alan.
At that moment, an old man passed by. He squeezed through the crowd and walked up to Brucille, “Young man, can you let me have a look at your orchid?”
Brucille took a look at the old man. He looked suave and calm, like some kind of professor in school. After Brucille was sure that he would not just run away his plant, he handed it to him.
Someone in the crowd immediately recognized the old man.
“Oh, he’s Master Liew, the expert horticulturist!”
“That’s right. Master Liew is an expert! Is there really something strange about the orchid?”
Tyrion was feeling excited deep down inside. Everyone in the flower market knew Jamarion Liew. His work of art had received numerous local and international awards.
Master Liew seemed to need more time to scrutinize it further. He instructed his assistant, “Bring me my magnifying glass.”
The crowd grew restless. Master Liew was just looking at an orchid. Was there really a need for a magnifying glass?
The heart of the owner who had just sold the flower to Brucille began to pound wildly at that moment.
Alan watched in confusion, too. Looking at the dying Ghost Orchid, he really didn’t know what Master Liew was appraising. Was he trying to gauge when it would die?
However, Master Liew was exceptionally focused on the plant. Finally, he returned the plant to Brucille. After a final and careful look at it with the magnifying glass, he praised, “It’s amazing that I have the opportunity to see this once! This is a genuine Supreme Lotus Orchid!”
The people in the flower market burst into an uproar. The people around Master Liew wanted to take a closer look at Brucille’s orchid. They all pinned their eyes on the legendary orchid species as they carefully digested just exactly how the Supreme Lotus Orchid looked like.
“My goodness, is that really the Supreme Lotus Orchid? Isn’t it one of the most precious kinds that can only be seen in exhibitions?”
“I heard that a Supreme Lotus Orchid is worth more than a million.”
Of course, Tyrion knew the value of a Supreme Lotus Orchid. It could easily could up to a million yuan.
On the hand, Alan’s face turned dark. A mix of complex feelings brewed within him.
He trusted that Jamarion Liew, the top gardening expert, would have scrutinized it correctly. After all, he had even used a magnifying glass to verify it.
Brucille could tell that Master Liew was a man that lived up to his reputation. However, the fact that he needed a magnifying glass to look at the orchid proved that he had gotten aged.
In an unusual display of excitement, Jamarion looked at Brucille, requesting, “Young man, I am currently looking for rare species as I will be participating in the international orchid exhibition. Could you sell it to me?”
It was at that moment that Tyrion realized that there was more to Brucille than what met the eye. Somehow, he’d managed to pick out the orchid amidst dozens of other flowers, and he was pretty on point with it.
He thought that the Supreme Lotus Orchid only existed in legends. There were many orchids sold in such an ordinary market every year. Who would be so lucky to find it?
Brucille was in a dilemma. He had just gotten his hands on it and really didn’t want to sell it.
Jamarion knew that if he did not say the price, he would not be swayed. He made an offer, “Young man, I know if it is in full bloom, the market price will be no less than 4 million. However, it is not in full bloom yet, so it must be carefully taken care of. I am not saying this to boast, I promise I can make it bloom more beautifully. I’m willing to pay you 2. 6 million for it, deal?”
Brucille looked at Tyrion, who was standing next to him. He actually wanted to give it to him as a gift.
Tyrion urged enthusiastically, “Since Master Liew likes it, just sell it to him, Bruce! The Boat Orchid we have isn’t too bad either.”
Jamarion was very gratified when he heard that.
The two of them exchanged their contact information. He even invited Tyrion to visit his office when he was free.
With just a simple trade of orchid plant, Brucille received a sum 500 times more than the original price he had paid.
Meanwhile, the owner who sold the orchid to Brucille was leaning against the entrance of his store, his breathing shallow. He loathed himself for having such a poor eye for good things.
The news that Tyrion had bought a Supreme Lotus Orchid spread all over the flower market. Therefore, the whole place was mobbed by people in mere minutes.
Because of its popularity, many people flocked there in hopes to see what the legendary Supreme Lotus Orchid looked like.
However, Jamarion had already brought the flower away. It took Tyrion and Brucille a lot of effort to escape the crowd in the flower market. In the process, the pot that they were carrying broke.
Tyrion was so angry that he threw it all away.
Looking at the soil on their hands, he fumed indignantly, “What’s wrong with these people? An orchid worth thousands of yuan was just crushed by them. That’s simply too much!”
“Dad, forget about it,” Brucille comforted. “Let’s buy another one when we have time some other day. Perhaps it’s fate that this happened. Besides, you made a profit today, right?”
Speaking of the money they had earned, Tyrion felt a little better. “Money is really a good thing. When Sabrina and I were married, we were so poor.”
“It must have been a hard time for you,” empathized Brucille. “Now that your conditions are much better, why don’t you make it up to her. Let’s go to the jewelry store and pick a gift for her. It can be considered as an anniversary gift. Is that okay, dad?”
In that instant, Tyrion felt that his comrade’s son wasn’t as dispirited as he had been in the past. He had become a lot more intelligent.
