Chapter 41

I’m no longer planning on running away, but I am curious about my immediate area. I might as well get used to my golden prison if I was trapped here. That’s because, despite Nicola’s best intentions, I was still confined to this estate for the foreseeable future.
Before the feeling of confinement could settle in, I shook off the idea. What seemed like a cage at first glance was actually a safe haven.
My fears dissipated as Nicola took my hand once more. I followed him as we walked from the kitchen across the foyer and out the front door.
It was a cold day in the fall, and any exposed skin immediately developed goosebumps. My peaked nipples pressed against the thin camisole that Nicola had bought for me because of the chill.
Rather than focusing on my breasts, Nicola frowned and rubbed my arms. He cared more about making sure I was comfortable than he did about looking at my tits. The realization that he was more concerned with meeting my needs than indulging his own lust for my body filled me with a warm glow inside.
He led me back into the foyer, saying, “I’ll fetch you a jacket”
When he backed away, I felt a cold creep across my body and crossed my arms to keep it warm. I started to feel cold, but he was back in less than a minute. Holding out his leather jacket, he let me walk behind him to put my arms inside. There was a heaviness on my shoulders from the leather, and the jacket was far too wide for my little frame. I took a long inhale of the Nicola-scented air as he zipped me up in the jacket.
“Thanks.” With this moment and him, I was happy and delighted. When he looked after me like that, I forgot about the bad things happening in the world. I had faith that he would do more than just protect me; he would also value me. My brain buzzed with new information, and a flood of pleasure rolled through my veins.
He ran his fingers over my jaw, gazing at me in awe. He said, “You are so lovely,” as he pushed his lips to mine for a brief, gentle kiss.
As my excitement grew, my face became red. Even more than the physical pleasure his touch gave me, this was a profound contentment of spirit that I’d never had from anybody else before him.
I was still over over heels for him despite all that was occurring and the terrible things I had learnt about him. Even though I didn’t feel ready to give him my whole trust just yet, I really wanted to feel his love.
I buried my feelings, not ready to let them out just yet. Before I could trust Nicola with my heart again, I wanted to learn more about him. For me, trust was difficult to come by to begin with, and he’d broken it by keeping his history a secret. He would need a while to build up enough income to pay it back.
As we left the building and entered the grounds, he put his arm around me and pulled me close to his warm body. A lengthy, asphalt road slashed across a wide expanse of grass before vanishing behind a row of trees. Before I could go too far down it, Nicola beckoned me back toward the house.
“there’s nothing,” but I didn’t believe him. “Drive along the forest line for a few minutes, and you’ll come to the gate. The whole property is surrounded by an electric fence that will send a signal to Mathew if it is breached. Nobody is permitted inside until he says so.”
What I read made no sense, and seemed to contradict all I knew to be true. More like a fortress than a home. While learning about the security measures made me realize the risks Nicola took in his daily life, it also let me relax a little. In this location, they wouldn’t be able to reach me.
Due to its massive size, our stroll around the mansion took quite some time. It’s as though Mathew had a palace with beautiful grounds for his home. The home had a sizable garage off to one side, which I immediately noticed. There were many open doors, and when I looked inside, I saw a few of motorbikes and a red sports vehicle. Although I am not very knowledgeable about automobiles, even I could tell that this one was as luxurious as the rest of the house.
It would seem that criminal activity was profitable.
In my chest, excitement was fizzling as we approached the mansion’s rear. It was possible to glimpse a covered indoor pool via the conservatory’s windows.
“Oh!” I yelled. “Is there a pool I may use throughout my stay?”
“You’re a swimmer, right?”
During my stay in Havard with Nicola, I must have forgotten to swim my morning laps. Since I was so devoted to him, I never made it to the water park.
“Yeah. When I was in high school, I swam competitively. Usually, I do laps in the pool every day. It “was a great way to get some early morning workout done, but it also helped me de-stress and get my bearings. ”
“In such case, I’ll have a chat with Matthew about scheduling pool maintenance. Since I can remember, it has been emptied and covered. ”
“Really? Why?”
