“I just wanted to spend some time with you, you know today afternoon I had the dream, dream of the time we spent last time in your office”
Catherine was trying to register in his mind that when she conceived this baby and she continued, “You know Lucas, I feel very happy that we made love that day in your office because I got our first baby”
Lucas was listening to her without any interest, but what caught his attention was when she mentioned about the lovemaking at the office.
He felt like she was trying to highlight that make-out session, Catherine continued keeping Lucas’s hand on her swollen belly, “Luc, I was thinking that in two months our baby with be born in this world, don’t you think we should get married again”
“So that we can give a complete family to our baby”
Lucas smirked and said looking at Catherine, “Who gave you the guts to think that I will remarry you?”
Catherine frowned and asked, “Lucas what are you saying, we both love each other and we are about to have our baby then why can’t we remarry?”
Lucas held Catherine’s chin tightly and said, “You really think too high of yourself Catherine, I would prefer to stay single for lifetime than marrying a slut like you”
Lucas jerked her chin and walked out of the bedroom leaving angry Catherine alone in the room.
Catherine started throwing stuff out of anger after Lucas left, but after some time, something came to her mind and a vicious smile appeared on her lips and she murmured, “Just wait for tomorrow morning Lucas, you will definitely get Carol’s death news”
“After that you will not have any option than coming back to me”
Catherine was not aware that Carol was already caught by Alexa and was admitted to the hospital.
Lucas after leaving the house went to his office and started working to divert his mind.
The next morning Alex and Daniel went to the hospital, they were chit-chatting trying to keep Alexa engaged so that she doesn’t think of James, but little did they know that even though Alexa was smiling in front of them, her heart was shattered thinking about James’s behavior.
As everyone was busy, the door of the ward opened from outside, Alexa turned to look at the door with the hope that James might be there.
But to her disappointment, it was not James, it was Dylan and his wife, but today for the first time Alexa had seen Dylan very serious, he was always happy and kept on joking but today he seems different.
Alex wanted to stop him but Alice pressed his hand and stopped him, Dylan didn’t greet anyone and directly walked to Alexa’s bed followed by his wife.
He kissed her forehead and said with little teary eyes, “I am really sorry, I couldn’t protect you well”
Alexa tried to force a smile, Dylan continued, “I thought that I could make my son the luckiest man on the earth by marrying you to him, but I couldn’t because he could not cherish a girl like you”
“I can only ask for forgiveness on his behalf and also I can correct my mistake” saying this he pulled out a document from his court pocket and handed over it to Alexa continuing, “I have always considered you as my daughter and as a father I cannot let my daughter to be with a person who cannot cherish her”
Alexa tried to take the document but Alex snatched the document before it could reach Alexa’s hand and after having a quick look he said, “I am happy Dylan, you took this step because that was the first thing I was going to do after Alexa’s discharge”
Alexa was still puzzled, Alex handed over the document to Alexa who was sitting with the support of pillows when Alexa saw the documents her eyes dwelled up with tears but she knew that this is the only way to give happiness to James.
She cannot be selfish and bind him in this marriage.
She looked at Alice as if asking whether what she is going to do is right or wrong, Alice nodded in agreement, then Alexa moved her eyes to Daniel as if expecting someone to stop her from doing this, she knew after doing this she would lose James forever.
Sensing her sadness Daniel walked to her and said holding her shoulder, “Bunny, I don’t want to see you here again in my life, please do it for yourself and your happiness, your self respect”
Alexa nodded holding back her tears and took the pen from Dylan’s hands and signed the divorce papers.
All the people could feel Alexa’s pain, they could feel how much she loved James, Dylan was sad but angry at the same time, he never expected this from James; he thought that as a father he always knew that James liked Alexa.
And that’s why they arranged this marriage, he never in his dreams thought that James could harm Alexa like this.
On the other hand, James was completely devastated, Alexa’s pale face was roaming in his mind, he never thought that his little carelessness would cause so much trouble for Alexa.
He was continuously drinking to forget the sin he had done, he hurt the person whom he loved the most, he didn’t dare to go to the hospital and see Alexa.
He can never see her in that condition, he knows how fragile she was from birth, he knows how much Alex, Lucas, and Daniel protected her and they gave their precious Alexa to him with so much confidence in him, but he let them all down, he himself hurt her so badly.
James was boozing when the door of his bedroom opened from outside and Olivia entered, she immediately ran towards him and said in a worried tone, “James, what are you doing?”
James said with teary eyes looking at her, “Olivia, I hurt her, how can I do that to the person whom I love the most, I cannot forget her pale face”
Olivia had never seen James in such a vulnerable state, she was hell irritated thinking that he was doing all these for useless Alexa,
