Alice fell silent for a moment, but this time Alex said, “Don’t worry son, we won’t force you for anything, but you know I always fulfill my wife’s wish, so I will do it this time also”
Saying this he looked at Alice with lots of love in his eyes and said, “Honey, you want Carol as your daughter-in-law, right?”
Alice nodded in confusion, she was wondering what Alex is about to say, and Alex said, “Don’t worry, Lucas had his own reasons to not marry Carol, but we can get Daniel and Carol married, what say honey, how’s my idea?”
“Daniel is also old enough to get married, and if you will tell him, he will never deny”
Alice smiled happily and said, “Awesome, idea honey, why it didn’t came to my mind, I will be blessed to have Carol as my daughter-in-law”
“I will meet her mother and fix the dates soon; I know Daniel will never deny me”
Lucas felt very irritated at this moment; he knew that he had denied marrying Carol then why he does not like it when she is getting married to someone else.
Lucas’s irritation didn’t hide from Alice and Alex’s eyes, they looked at each other and gave a meaningful smile and Alice said, “Lucas, you carry on son, we won’t disturb you anymore” saying that they left the office.
Lucas was unable to concentrate on his work anymore, just in a few minutes, Carol came in with coffee in her hand, but when she didn’t find Alex and Alice, she frowned and asked, “Mr. William, where is Mr. William and Mrs. Williams?”
Lucas looked at her with his deep sea-green eyes, and said in a cold tone, “Ms. Mittal can you please not call me Mr. William, it sounds like I am some old guy”
For a moment Carol didn’t understand, Lucas continued, “You call Mr. William my Dad and you call me also with the same name, don’t you ever get confused?”
Carol was unable to understand why Lucas was behaving like this. From the time she started working for him, he was always calm and collected but what happened to him today.
She forced a smile and said, “No problem Mr. William, I will call you Sir going forward”
Lucas nodded and waved her to leave.
The fact was Lucas was frustrated because of his parent’s words and he never liked Carol calling him Mr. William, he wanted her to call him by his name.
He wanted to hear his name from her sweet mouth for once, but that never happened and today it came out in frustration.
Lucas tried very hard to concentrate on his work, but Alex’s words were ringing in his mind that they would get Carol married to Daniel.
He threw the pen in frustration, stood up and walked towards the French window and lit a cigarette, and started smoking thinking something deeply.
After smoking for some time he took out his phone from his pocket and called Alex, when Alex’s phone rang he smiled and looked at Alice and said, “I told you, my plane will work”
Alice smiled and asked him to pick the call and keep it on speaker, and Alex being her loving husband did the same, and answered the call keeping it on speaker, “Yes, Lucas”
Lucas was silent for a few seconds; Alex thought Lucas was not online so he said again, “Lucas, are you there?”
Lucas replied, “Dad, I am fine with your arrangement”
Alex was in a happy mood and wanted to play with his son, so he said playing innocent, “Sorry son, I didn’t get you, what arrangement you are talking about”
Lucas felt a little annoyed but he still said, “I am ready to marry Carol”
Alex and Alice felt relaxed, Alex replied, “Great decision son, we are heading to Carol’s home, we will talk to her mother and share you the good news soon”
Lucas hummed and hung up the call, he was unable to understand why he did this, he knows that he still has feelings for Catherine, even though she cheated on him, but why Carol marrying someone else was bothering him.
Alice and Alex reached Carol’s home, they had already met Carol’s Mom many times, so it started with a friendly conversation, and when Alice said that she wants Carol to marry Lucas, Carol’s mother was unable to believe it.
She had known William family for long and who in the city doesn’t know them, if her daughter gets married in their house she will be very happy, she felt that her daughter is very lucky that she got a marriage proposal from such a powerful family, so she agreed immediately, thinking that it is good for her daughter.
Alice and Alex left Carol’s home happily, when Carol reached home, she saw her mother’s happy face and asked, “Mummy, what happened, you look so happy today?”
Carol’s Mom made her sit on the sofa and said, “Baby, you trust your Mom right?”
Carol asked in confusion, “Mom, why are you asking such questions, of course I trust and love you the most”
Her Mom felt relieved and said, “My little girl, I have fixed your marriage”
Carol was shocked hearing this, before she could ask any further questions, her Mom continued happily, “You know Mr. and Mrs. William came to our home today and they want you to marry his son Lucas”
Carol’s hands froze the moment she heard that her mother had fixed her marriage with that cold-hearted person; she would never want to marry such a person, who has a gloomy face all the time.
She wanted to be with someone who cherishes her, loves her but Lucas was all the opposite of it, she wanted to deny this marriage immediately but seeing her Mom’s happy face she didn’t have the guts to do it.
She had never seen her Mom so happy after her father’s death. So she kept silent and didn’t deny marrying Lucas.
