It was Lee who had sent her that note on Valentine’s day. She was glad she kept it. She tucked a polaroid picture of them locking lips in her diary along with that note. Maybe he had always been in her daydream even before they even met. He was everything she had imagined having a boyfriend would be like … and more because he was her best friend too.
They spent the rest of summer together … all the time. Hanging out with Jan and Kyle, hanging out at his house, at Hazel’s house. Watched movies, making out, played video games, making out, watched BTS dance practice, making out.
They went to the beach for a swim or for ice cream, going out on dates, they go shopping for clothes together because they like the same things.
Their parents quickly noticed the change. They were always holding hands, they looked into each others’ eyes differently and he kisses her hand every now and then. He fell hard for her, after all, she was his first love. When he introduced her to Sam and his dancer friends at the studio as his girlfriend, his face glowed, he was prouder than when he had won an international competition.
By the time they were back at school, they were the hottest new couple of Pinehurst Valley High, even the teachers knew about it. They’d sneak out on break time and made out at the school backyard or the back of the sports hall. They were all over each other, they were the cutest thing.
Theo and Max get to find out the news from their social media posts. It was always a picture of them together doing something cute couples do. Theo would send a private message to her or a voice note, “Stop posting cute pictures with your boyfriend it’s disttuurrbbbing …” of course he was joking, or maybe he wasn’t? But their relationship was light and easy, they would just laugh about it.
Max would send her private messages too, “If he starts sending you dick picks you should dump him H.” He would comment on their joint ice cream eating post, “Disgustingly sweet … I don’t like you with a boyfriend… no offense, Lee.” And Lee would reply, “None taken bro.” Because he knew it would piss Max even more.
Lee was such a sweetheart though. Hazel’s mother adored him. He was very helpful around the house whenever he came by. He did everything that Max used to do to help her, he was polite and he always took Hazel home on time. He was the kind of guy any girl would want to take home to their parents. Eduard would not comment on that, no matter how nice Lee was, he was the guy who’s taking his daughter away from him.
He was her pride and joy too. She posted a lot of his dance clips on her social media and gush over her adorable boyfriend. They even do short dances on Tik-Tok together with matching Tee Shirt on which Theo would respond to her privately with a GIF of a guy banging his head on a wall.
Everything was falling into place for Hazel, she was having the best time of her life … yet …
