He came back to see the wall in his room was once again cleared. All the papers and pictures that were scattered all over his floor were no longer there. They even took his dirty clothes from the night he went to the asylum for traces of evidence. He felt robbed and raped that strangers had come into his most private sanctuary and trampled all over it. At least they left the TV and the mattress and all his mask collections.
Friday was leaning on the door frame with her backpack. “I’m sorry you had to go through this,” she knew she played a big part in what had happened. “Are you alright?” he asked. Friday nodded, “Are you?” Adrian nodded. He stood up and Friday rushed over to him and hugged him.
“Thank you for not telling them,” Adrian put his index finger to his lips. No one needed to know what they went through, he knew it was important to Friday to keep her exploration a secret. “They didn’t get everything … I took some important stuff before they raided your room,” she said in a whisper. “Good.”
“I’m sorry about Dorian,” Friday said. Adrian exhaled deeply. “I have to sort some things out, I think it’s better for you to go home, Friday.” She didn’t answer, she was still holding on to Adrian and tears were starting to fall on her face. She nodded, “Jordy’s taking me home later … but I still want to do this with you,” she showed him the map she found at the asylum.
The Island. The fantasy mystical island that she dreamed of running off to. It was the last thing on his mind but he agreed to help her continue her research after he sorted out what he needed to sort out. “Deaths … remember what she said? Deaths before the journey starts… Dorian could be the first.” Adrian paused, Maduma did say that, but he needed time to grief and find out who had done this.
They went downstairs to see Jordan, he looked as devastated as he was. Esmee was sitting beside him, comforting him. She came over to Adrian to hug him as soon as she saw him, “Thank God you’re alright.” Jordan gave him a nice brotherly hug too. “We’re forced to close The Dungeon for another week,” said Jordy. “It’s only right, we all need to get this out of our system, everyone’s really bummed out … and Sadie, someone needs to tell her the news,” nobody reacted. “I guess I’ll do it,” he continued.
He went on to tell them what his plans were, Friday and Esmee had to go back to their homes. The City didn’t feel safe anymore. As soon as the news was out about the finding of Dorian’s body, everyone went home and locked their doors even before the sunset. People were expecting the police to solve the crime as soon as possible because fear spreads quicker than fire. Fear can make people do stupid things. That was the least of Jordan’s concerns.
In a room with three people he cared about most, it was the perfect time to share with them what he knew. Change will come sooner than they expect. He told them about the plan for rations that will be implemented soon and that he had other plans for The Dungeon if it came to be. He knew he had to act fast because running low on food supplies will change people very quickly.
“But this doesn’t go beyond this room … do you understand?” he made them promise to keep it a secret. “Everyone will do what they can to survive and it’s gonna be dangerous … dark times are coming.” The room fell silent. It’s as if the world was changing overnight, and it took a very dark turn.
