Amelia’s POV
After a long journey along a mysterious road that felt oddly familiar, I found myself pondering its origins. Despite the eerie atmosphere, I couldn’t bring myself to admit any fear. Who knows where this person, whom Andrew referred to as Elliot, is taking me?
“Uhm… hi,” I finally spoke, breaking the disquieting silence that filled the car. His eyes remained fixed on the road, intensifying my nervousness about what might be going through his mind.
“Yes,” he replied without diverting his attention or sparing me a single glance.
I sighed, uncertain about what I wanted to say. Numerous questions swirled in my head, yet I struggled to find the right words to express myself.
“Where are we going?” I finally settled on a question to break the silence.
“To a place called home,” his response caused my heart to skip a beat.
What does he mean by home? I’m clearly an orphan with no family to call my own on this Earth, except for Andrew, who I just left unconscious on the floor. Oh my goodness, I shouldn’t have abandoned Andrew in that state. Panic washed over me as the guy beside me seemed unfazed, as if he didn’t care. I began questioning whether I made the right choice by going with him.
“We’ve arrived,” his sudden announcement pulled me away from my thoughts, and I gazed upon a grand and beautiful mansion before me.
Oh my goodness, is this the home he was referring to? Could it be that I am a wealthy billionaire without even realizing it?
“What is this place?” I asked, my eyes fixed on the majestic building.
“This is where you’ll be staying with your boyfriend,” he uttered before walking away, leaving me to process the bombshell he had just dropped.
“Boyfriend!” My voice rang out uncontrollably. What on earth did he mean by boyfriend?
There’s no way he could be referring to Andrew, considering we recently broke up and I watched him being knocked unconscious by this guy. So, who could he be talking about? Well, standing still won’t provide any answers. I looked around, but the guy had disappeared, which made me somewhat frightened as I approached the door.
Outside, I noticed a small house with two fierce-looking dogs. I immediately rushed inside.
“Wow,” I couldn’t help but exclaim when I beheld the magnificent interior. The exterior was already impressive, but the inside surpassed all expectations.
Lost in awe, I felt a tap on my shoulder, prompting me to turn and face the person responsible. It was the same guy who had brought me here.
“Hey,” I greeted him.
“Hey,” he replied, scrolling through his phone.
“So, what am I doing here?” Impatience seeped into my voice as I didn’t want to get into trouble for trespassing.
“As I mentioned earlier, this is your boyfriend Liam’s house, and you’ll be staying with him,” he gently explained.
“Oh, by the way, I’m Elliot. You might not remember me, but you used to address me as your master,” he said, flashing me a bright smile.
“No, she doesn’t,” another voice interrupted from behind. I looked up to see an incredibly handsome man descending the stairs.
How can someone be so attractive? Get it together, Amelia. You just broke up with your boyfriend, and now you find yourself in a beautiful house with strangers. This isn’t the time to be thinking about such things.
The charming man approached us, his smile persistent and mysterious. “Hey, Amelia,” he extended his hand for a handshake. I stared at his hand, unsure if I should accept the gesture.
“Why so formal, Liam?” Elliot interjected, chuckling slightly.
“Because she recently lost her memory, you dumbo,” he whispered-yelled to Elliot, loud enough for me to hear.
Oh my goodness, did he just say I lost my memory? And furthermore, is he the Liam that Elliot keeps referring to as my boyfriend?
My head throbbed with pain as I tried to make sense of everything. I held my head, groaning in discomfort.
“Are you okay?” Liam’s voice filled with genuine concern.
“No, my head hurts,” I confessed, unable to bear the pain.
“Elliot, can you…” Liam’s sentence trailed off when he realized Elliot had disappeared. We heard the sound of a car engine starting, followed by the vehicle driving off. It seemed Elliot had something urgent to attend to.
“Oh, I guess he had something important to do. But don’t worry, Teddy, I’ll take care of you,” Liam assured me, using a name that sparked a faint recognition in my mind. Where had I heard the name Teddy before?
“So…” I began, not quite sure what to say or ask.
“I’m Liam. I know you don’t have anywhere to go, so you can stay here,” Liam said, his eyes filled with hope.
“Oh, okay. Thanks,” I replied, realizing I had no other options. I was essentially homeless now.
“Awesome. Let me show you to your room,” Liam offered, leading me upstairs.
As I followed Liam, my gaze remained fixed on him. Who was this man? Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t have readily accepted help from a stranger, but now I found myself stranded and without a place to stay.
I kept studying Liam as we walked up the stairs. There was something about him that felt both familiar and comforting, despite the circumstances. Maybe it was the way he carried himself, the warmth in his eyes, or the gentle smile that seemed to ease my unease. Whatever it was, I couldn’t deny that there was a connection between us, even if my memories were currently out of reach.
As we reached the top of the stairs, Liam turned to face me. “Here we are,” he said, gesturing to a door at the end of the hallway. “This will be your room, Teddy.”
Teddy. The name echoed in my mind once again. It triggered a vague sense of belonging, as if I had heard it before in a place that now lay hidden in the depths of my forgotten memories.
I cautiously stepped into the room, and my breath caught in my throat. It was cozy, adorned with soft colors and delicate decorations. The bed looked inviting, promising a peaceful night’s rest. Sunlight poured in through the window, casting a warm glow on everything it touched. It felt like a sanctuary, a safe haven amidst the chaos of my fragmented recollections.
“Thank you,” I murmured, turning to face Liam. “This… this is lovely.”
A smile graced Liam’s lips, and his eyes sparkled with relief. “I’m glad you like it, Teddy. If there’s anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask. Consider this your home now.”
Home. The word resonated within me, and a sense of gratitude washed over me. Liam’s kindness touched my heart, and despite the uncertainty that shrouded my past, I couldn’t help but feel a glimmer of hope for the future.
“Thank you, Liam,” I said, my voice filled with sincerity. “For everything.”
His smile widened, and he reached out to gently touch my shoulder. “You don’t have to thank me, Teddy. It’s my pleasure to help.”
We stood there for a moment, a silent understanding passing between us. Although my memories remained elusive, I knew deep down that I could trust Liam. There was a connection, an unspoken bond that transcended the boundaries of forgotten pasts.
