Amelia was walking along the hallway thinking of the phone call she had with Andrew and frowned.
“How did that idiot get my number?”She rhetorically questions herself before grabbing a paper cup and reaching towards the water dispenser.
She pressed the button slightly and the water came pouring down into the cup, she was so lost in thoughts that she didn’t notice when Liam approached her.
“And what could my teddy be thinking about?”Liam’s voice brought her back to reality as she flinched a little on seeing him.
“What are you doing here?”Amelia nervously asked as her eyes scanned the room to see if people were around.
“Well I can go anywhere, after all it’s my company” Liam reminded her.
“Yea you are right”Amelia agrees nodding a little before turning to leave.
“Wait” Liam held her hand making her halt on her tracks.
“Yes”She turns to look at him.
“What’s wrong?”He suddenly asked, making her eyebrows furrow.
“What do you mean?”Amelia nervously asked.
“Well you were lost in thoughts when I came, you didn’t even notice my presence”Liam tells her.
“Oh , I’m sorry, just stressed out,”Amelia explains.
“What’s making you stressed out?” Liam asked a bit worried but got no response from her.
“Amelia!”He calls out for her.
“Hmm”She answers with a humming sound.
“What’s got you all worked out, is it because of what happened to Miss Cynthia?” Liam worriedly asked. She immediately nodded even though that wasn’t the reason she was stressed out.
“Don’t worry she will be fine”Liam assures her making a breath out a sigh of relief.
She was about to change the topic when it totally struck her mind that he didn’t tell her about it.
“Why didn’t you tell me about it when you already knew?”Amelia questions him.
“I promise her not to tell anyone”Liam admits.
“Not to tell anyone what?”Amelia curiously asked.
Flashback
“I can’t believe you almost took your own life because of what happened to you!”Liam yelled at her as she focused her gaze down feeling embarrassed by the situation.
“You have no idea on how it would have affected your kids, I mean they already lost their father now you want them to lose their mother how selfish can you be!” Liam snaps at her as he thought about how his mother left him to suffer on his own and went to start a new family.
“I’m so sorry”Miss Cynthia apologized, dropping to her knees in tears.
“Get up” Liam tries helping her up but she takes his hand away.
“You are right boss, I am a selfish mother”She started making Liam feel bad.
“I didn’t mean what I said okay, I was just”Liam tried explaining as she nodded.
“You don’t need to explain anything, you are right, how could I think about leaving my children alone in this cruel world without anyone by their side?”She said, feeling terrible at her actions.
“They won’t be able to survive all alone, it isn’t their fault my husband died so why must I punish them this badly”Miss yells out as tears were pouring down from her eyes.
“I feel like I’m the worst mother on earth!”She yells while crying.
“I must be the worst mother on earth, how could I ever think of abandoning my own kids!”Miss Cynthia screams in tears, Liam pulled her up and pulled her into his embrace as she cried on his shoulder.
“Believe me you are not the worst mother on earth” Liam assures her while patting her back lightly as she cries on his shoulder.
“You are better than my so called mom”Liam mutters as eyes were a bit glossy.
Flashback to 15 years ago
Liam POV
I don’t know why grandma is against mom, but there is no way she would just leave me alone. I have to find her today and ask her to come back home …I’m sure when she hears that dad is no more she will cry.
Liam pack his clothes along with snacks in his small bag and backed it before heading downstairs. He saw his grandma asleep since it was in the middle of the night , he gently kissed her forehead before making him way to the door. He closed the door behind him gently in order to wake his grandma up from sleeping.
“I have to find my mother today”He declared before proceeding on his journey.
Liam was walking all alone in the street in the middle of the night without being scared, for a boy of ten years he was surely brave. He heard a sound from behind and turned to the direction to see two men staring at him weirdly with a malicious smirk on their faces.
“Hello” Liam calmly greets them, making them approach his direction.
He stood firmly not moving a muscle as they made their way towards him.
“Hey kid, what are you doing out here in the night all alone?”One of the men asks Liam while smirking at the other one.
“I wanna go find my mother”Liam answers them making them chuckle.
“You wanna go find your mother?”The other one repeats
“Yes”Liam nods.
“That’s great cause we can take you to your mother”They announced, making Liam smile brightly.
“Really?” Liam asked with his smile never leaving his face.
“Yes come my boy”They assured him before luring him into their car and driving off with him.
Liam was so happy he thought they were going to help him find his mother. Neither did he know those men had other plans. They arrived at a warehouse making Liam a bit nervous about what they were doing here.
“Why are we here?”Liam curiously questions.
“This is where your mother stays”One of them announced, making Liam cringe at the look of the place and how trash was all over the place.
“So my mom stays in an incomplete building with zero health sanitation and lack of proper hygienic environment”Liam remarks, making them glare at him.
“Hush kid okay, you should be grateful we took you to your mom and be more polite”One of them reprimanded him.
“Excuse my manners , but there is nothing peasant about this place that can’t imagine my mother will ever live in a dump like this”Liam scoffs.
“Okay I have enough of you kid, shut up or else I will shut you up myself”Another guy threatened him.
“Excuse me sir, are you by any chance threatening me?” Liam asked in disbelief.
The men were astonished at how courageous he was for his age. one of them was about to talk when a very huge man that was robust approached their way.
“Boss”They both said in unison standing straight.
“Who do we have here?”Their boss asked, referring to Liam who was staring at him weirdly.
“He is the kid we are going to sell,”One of them stated.
“Sell!” Liam yells before trying to run away but the boss grabs him by the collar lifting him up.
“Where do you think you are going little kid?”He chuckles deviously.
“Put me down you robust man!” Liam yells, making them gasps.
“What did you just call me?”The boss angrily asked.
“I called you robust, go on a diet would you”Liam tells him without shaking.
“How dare you!”The boss yells before throwing him to the ground.
Liam Yelp in pain on the ground.
“Boss calm down, you shouldn’t have thrown him like that”One of them stated before helping Liam up.
“Who are you to tell him what to do?!”He snaps at the guy before glaring at Liam who pokes his tongue out on him.
“You little”The boss tried grabbing Liam but another guy stopped him from behind.
“Calm down fatty, you don’t wanna hurt the little kid”Another guy uttered from behind.
“Who are you to tell me what to do?”The boss turns back and immediately flinch on seeing
the man standing from behind.
“Now do you know who i i’m?”The man asked, chuckling deviously.
“Master, I’m so sorry I didn’t know you were the one.”The boss immediately apologised to the guy that appeared to be superior to him.
“Move!”He commanded and immediately the fatty moved out of his way.
“What’s your name, little child?”The man calmly asked Liam.
“Liam ”Liam replies he is not scared of the ink man full with piercing in front of him.
“Liam, that’s a nice name, so where are your parents?”The man questions him.
“Well my father is dead and those two fools told me they were taking me to see my mom”Liam bluntly uttered referring to the two guys standing behind.
“Hey you!”They both yelled in unison but were silenced by the man.
“Aww so you are an orphan”The man announced.
“I’m not an orphan, my mom is not dead”Liam tells him.
“Oh okay cool”The man agrees.
“So would you take me to my mom?” Liam asked him.
“Oh course why not, In fact I will take you to a new place entirely”The man tells him before chuckling as others join him in his laughter. Liam wondered why they were laughing until someone hit his head from the back and everything went black as he collapsed on the floor.
“Clean this kid up and get him ready for the auction”The man orders and immediately they took Liam’s unconscious body with them and left.
“I’m gonna be so rich , I bet people will pay a fortune just to have a child like that”The man admits while smirking.
Liam opened his eyes slowly and saw that he was in a dark room and immediately started panicking.
“Where I’m i? Hello, is anyone there!”Liam yells but gets no response.
“Help me!”He yelled loudly as the door opened wide and he saw those two men that brought him here standing at the door.
“Where have you guys taken me too, I wanna go home now!” Liam demanded.
They ignored his demands to reach forward to grab him, but he jerked his body away and tried running when one of them pulled him back and slapped his cheek hard.
“Listen kid, I have had enough of your mischievous ways don’t mess with me”The one that slapped him warned him.
“Hey you shouldn’t hit the kid”The other one reprimanded his actions.
“I’m sorry but this child is making me lose my patience”He admits ruffling his hair.
“You know what just bring him downstairs cause if I stay here I might kill him”The guy admits before leaving the room.
“Okay time to go”The other guy tells Liam who had tears in his eyes.
“You guys crossed the line by hitting me!” Liam snapped as his eyes were filled with anger.
“What did you just say? Listen I don’t have time for your rubbish now move”The guy pushed at him but he didn’t budge.
Liam frowns and turns to look at him before giving him a low blow, the guy Yelped in pain as he drops down to the ground. Liam quickly grabs his bag and runs out of the room, he sees some men approaching his way and hide behind the curtains.
They didn’t see him because of how tiny he was and he was able to escape the place safely. He was walking on the street feeling tired and weak he sat down on the ground before bringing out the bottle of water and snacks out from his bag.
“I miss grandma, hope I find my mom soon”Liam sighs before drinking some water, he was about to open one of his snacks when he saw those men approaching his way.
“There he is!”One of them announced, making Liam stand up and run as fast as he could while they chased him.
“Come back here kid!”They yelled while chasing after him.
Liam saw a place where a party was being held and immediately rushed towards the direction as he was about to enter the party when he bumped into a woman.
“Don’t you have eyes you filthy kid!”The woman snaps at him, Liam looks up slowly at the woman and gasps.
“Mom”He called out for her. She looked over at him as her eyes widened in shock.
“Liam,”She mutters.
Liam was so happy to see his mother as he held her hand but she yanked it away, he was confused on why she did that when a kid came running towards them.
“Mom let’s go, I’m hungry”The child said, tugging on her gown.
“Oh sure thing my love”she smiles at him before holding onto his hand , she was about to walk inside when Liam held her hand making her halt in her tracks.
“Mom, where are you going?” Liam asked as he was on the verge of crying.
“Let go of me!”She pushed him away.
“Mom please don’t leave me, dad left already please don’t go either”He pleaded with her.
“Listen I don’t know who you are okay, and I have no idea who you are ”Her words broke him into pieces as he dropped to his knees.
Liam watches them leaving in tears, those men saw him and were about to approach him when his grandma came making them groan in frustration before leaving.
“Liam I have been looking for you everywhere, why did you leave home?”His grandma scolds him.
“Grandma mom doesn’t know me again”He tells her.
“Let’s go home dear”She tells him before carrying him up.
“Why does mom not remember me?” Liam questions his grandma who was holding back her tears as she looks at the little kid who yearns for his mother that doesn’t give a damn about him.
” i’m an orphan”Liam declares as his vision turned black.
