Chapter 80

Book:The Couples' Teen Surrogate Baby Mama Published:2024-6-2

“What’s going on?” Ariel muttered as she run her fingers through her hair crazily. She has been trying to reach everybody, but no one was answering her calls, not even Max or Alex. She gulps down nothing worriedly, praying nervously that nothing happens. It’s past 10pm, and Max hasn’t been back yet after he told her earlier that he was going to attend to something and come back immediately.
“Answer your call, please,” She mumbles as she dials the number again, and when it didn’t go through, she decides to call Alex, and maybe, who knows, his number might go through, but it was still the same result she got.
Many questions run through her mind as she sinks into the bed, grabbing a handful of her hair in her hands as she drops her gaze to the floor. Could it be that something happened while she is here? Were they abducted? Those are the questions that keep running through her mind as she tries to gather her thoughts together, but it only ends up getting ruined since she can’t even think straight at the moment.
She takes a deep breath before she looks at her babies, tears suddenly well up in her eyes as memories of the past few months flash through her head. The pain she has been through, the heartbreak and everything, just the thought of it all hurts a lot, but what will break her the most is if she doesn’t end up having a happy ending. That will be the worst thing that would ever happen in her life.
The door suddenly bursts open, and she springs up to her feet to find Alicia breathing heavily. She takes a step back and creases her eyebrows, trying to make sense of what is happening here. What is Alicia doing in the hospital at this time of the night? What is her intention? How the hell did she get past the security, when the visiting hour is over? She asks herself as she stares at her.
“We need to get out of here at once, Ariel. You are not safe,” Alicia utters after she takes a deep breath.
“Wha… what are you doing here?” She blinks her eyes rapidly as she questions Alicia.
“That doesn’t matter now, Ariel… You need to leave here at once. You are not safe, ok?” Alicia replies to her instead, and she scoffs.
“And you think I will just go with you like that because you’re asking me to? The last time I checked, you hate me so much, so I see no reason why you would want to help me. What are you up to?” She inquires, and Alicia scoffs.
“Yes, I hate you so much more than you can ever imagine it. The only reason I’m doing this is not that I like you, but because of many people that have been good to me. Because of Max, because my foster father who would be hurt to know that his long lost daughter died!” Alicia snaps at her angrily. She didn’t want to do this, but still, it was something she couldn’t have avoided.
“I don’t know if Max already told you about my biological dad… He is a dangerous man that would stop at nothing to get what he wants when he is determined to do it. He wants to kill all your family and take over your dad’s property, so do you see why you are not safe now? You have to make your decision here… Are you coming with me, or do you want me to go?” Alicia explains to her, and her heart sinks into her stomach. She gulps down nothing nervously. Why didn’t Max tell her about all this? Why did he keep the secret from her? She thinks to herself, but it’s really not time to think about all that now. Her safety is the first thing to think about now.
“My babies… What about them? I can’t leave them here, you know?” She asks as she glances back at the babies.
“I don’t know… Let me think of something. Uhm… What are we going to do about the babies?” Alicia mumbles as she runs her fingers thoroughly through her hair, trying so hard to come up with something, but her brain seems to fail her this time since she can’t come up with anything reasonable to do. Taking the babies out of the incubator isn’t an option since they are not safe that way, so it’s really difficult right now.
“Shit!” Alicia curses under her breath when she can’t come up with a solution.
“We can’t take them out of the incubator, Ariel. We have to leave them behind. I will find a way to save them as soon as you are out of here,” Alicia utters as she holds Ariel’s shoulders while staring into her eyes worriedly.
“No… I can’t leave my babies behind…”
“You are all going to die if you don’t leave, ok? You have to leave here,” Alicia cuts her off before she holds her hand and tries to drag her out of the ward, but she yanks her hand off and steps back.
“I can’t leave without them, ok? I’ll rather die here than leave without my babies,” She shakes her head, and Alicia scoffs. As much as she wants to leave her here, knowing her dad would’ve sent someone after her now, she couldn’t be so heartless to have left her here to die. This is her only chance to pay back for everything Max has done for her while they were still together, the only chance to pay Mr. Daniel and his family back for being there for her all the time he was down.
Still trying to think of something, the door suddenly opens, and one of the nurses walks in.
“The doctor asked me to inject you before you sleep,” The male nurse that is graced with a white coat, a white mask covering his nose and half of his face, and his thick black hair covering some part of his face, utter.
“Alright,” Ariel replies to him. Alicia watches as the nurse injects Ariel, and just then, the realization dawns on her. It’s past 10pm, and there should be no administration of injection at this hour.
“Hey, you are not a nurse, are you?” She asks, and the nurse stops abruptly.
“Alicia… why… Why am I feeling dizzy? Alicia… Help me…” Ariel staggers as she holds her head tightly, trying to keep her eyes open.
“What… what.. what did you do to her?” Alicia shrieks and hurries over to Ariel who has slumped on the ground, but just before she can stand up again, a hand covers her face from behind, and that is all she remembers as everything suddenly went blank…
