Alex POV
After I left the restaurant earlier, I drove home to get changed since it was already getting late, before I got dressed and drove out of the house, heading to see the person that called me earlier.
As I drive down the road a few minutes later, my phone suddenly beeps, and I stop to check the message.
‘Let’s meet some other time. I have something urgent to attend to’ I scoff angrily after I read the message. Is he messing with me? How can he bring me out here and tell me he is busy? It’s already past 8pm, and I hate night drives.
Taking a deep breath, I drop my phone on the seat next to me, before I drive to the nearest hotel to lay my head for the night, and leave for my house first thing tomorrow morning.
The drive to the hotel only took me about ten minutes, since it’s somewhere close, and just when I step out of the car, I stop on my track when I sight my dad, walking toward the entrance door.
“What is Dad doing here?” I mumble before I start tracing him to the reception, where he speaks with the receptionist before he walks away, and I pull a puzzled look.
I proceed to the reception to book a room, and I find his name on the book laying on the table. Well, it’s a good thing that I got his room number. Dad is not someone that ever comes to the hotel, and to think that he is here today, kind of doesn’t make any sense to me.
“There is only one reservation left, I’m sorry about that, Sir,” The receptionist apologizes to me after a few seconds of going through the other book beneath the counter.
“It’s fine. I just need a single room,” I reply to her after I glance in the direction where my dad went moments ago.
“Alright. I will prepare it right away, Sir,” She utters before she proceeds to do the processing, and after I pay with my credit card, she hands me that pass card, before leading me away.
As we walk down the hallway minutes later, I keep checking the room numbers to see if I can spot the one Dad is supposed to be in, and I finally found it when we stop in front of my supposed room. His room number is just opposite mine. Wow! What a coincidence.
“We are here, Sir. Make yourself comfortable, and if you need anything, ring the telephone, and the room attendant will attend to you,” She utters before she bows and walks away, leaving me to sort myself out.
I turn to face the room, wondering what my dad is doing there, and who he is there with. Even if he wants to remarry, isn’t it nice to bring her home, than take her to a hotel? Besides, he lives alone, and not with neither of us.
As I gulp down the lump that forms in my throat, I made to go eavesdrop, but my ringing phone pulls my attention, bringing me to an abrupt halt. I quickly turn and storm inside my room, slamming the door behind me. I wouldn’t want Dad to find out that I’m here.
I roll my eyes when I check the caller and find out that it’s that bitch, Alicia. Why the hell is she calling me for? After I found out about what she did years ago, my hatred for her increased rapidly and I don’t even know if I can stand her presence later.
“Hey,” I utter when I answer the call.
“What should I do, Alex? I am frustrated,” Her teary voice sounds through the phone as soon as I answer the call, and I pull a puzzled look.
“What is wrong with you? Are you ok?” I ask her, not because I’m worried about her, but because I’m curious to know what’s up with her.
“Let’s meet, Alex. I want to see you… It’s fine if you can’t come, I will come find you myself,” She further utters, and I take a deep breath before I give her the address of the hospital before the call ends.
As I stand in the bathroom and soak myself under the shower later, the thought of Dad being here in the hotel makes me feel extremely uncomfortable for some reason I can’t even explain. Maybe because I don’t trust the man anymore, who knows? Not that I ever trust him, anyway.
Pushing all the thoughts to the back of my mind, I wear my robe and walk back into the room, but the sound of a knock on the room pulls my attention, and I need not be told that the person is Alicia.
She embraces me as soon as I open the door, and I scoff silently as I roll my eyes.
“What is happening, Alicia?” I ask after I manage to close the door, but her arms around me only tighten as she breaks into tears, while resting her head on my chest.
“Let’s just stay like this, please,” She whispers, and I sigh briefly. I shouldn’t have given her the address of the place I am.
“What happened?” I ask her a few minutes later as I lean against the dresser, while she’s sitting on the bed with her eyes puffy.
“It’s my dad… He is not going to allow us to get married,” She utters as she slowly raises her gaze to look at me, fresh tears streaming down her cheeks.
“What? Why?” I blink my eyes at her, feigning annoyance. Why the heck should I be angry because her dad doesn’t want us to get married? It’s not that I even want to be with someone like her if not that I have a plan for her. The only reason to be angry is my plan that is going to be ruined if the wedding doesn’t hold later, and nothing else.
“Hold on, I thought your dad is not in the country?” I ask her, because the last time I checked, Mr. Daniel doesn’t reside here, but in California.
“He knew about everything that happened between me and Max… I told him everything, and when I told him that I want to get married again, he said that it was fine… But he declined after he found out that the one I want to marry now is Max’s brother,” She explains and breaks down in tears again. Shameless bitch!
“Calm down, ok? It’s not something to get worked up about, ok? The wedding is going to hold, and that is one thing I want to assure you. Don’t think too much about it, ok?” I squat in front of her and assure her, and she slowly nods her head.
“What about him? What if he still…”
“Don’t worry, I will handle that,” I cut her off, even though I’m not sure how I’m going to do that yet. I need the man to be present there on that day to see the look in her eyes when he finds out about the truth. I want him to see the devil he has raised as a daughter.
“Thank you,” She smiles at me, and I nod my head.
“You should shower and come lay your head. It’s pretty dangerous out there, and I can’t let my woman go out at this time of the night,” I utter as I stand up to my feet, and she blushes hard.
“Alright. Thank you,” She utters before she stands up and walks into the bathroom, while I watch her until she’s out of my sight. The imagination of what I’m going to do to her keeps amusing me, and I can only smirk…
