Next morning in Ariel’s room
Waking up with a slight headache and dizziness, Ariel sits up on the bed and runs her fingers through her hair as she groans tiredly. Glancing at her alarm that’s still blaring, she groans as she reaches out for it and picks it up, turning it off and returning it to the bedside table afterward.
Her eyes feel heavy and her body tired, but knowing that she needs to be in the office as soon as 7am, she swings her leg down the bed and drags her feet sluggishly into the bathroom.
She crashes her back against the wall as soon as she walks into the bathroom as she feels her body weight, and her head heavy.
“What’s wrong with me?” She mutters as she touches her forehead and sighs briefly. She manages to get under the shower and after having a long and relaxing bath, she feels a little bit fine, but not entirely fine. Dragging her feet back into her room, she takes her time to get dressed before she heads downstairs to the dining to have breakfast.
Descending the staircase, she drags her feet to the dining where she meets Alicia and Max, having breakfast without her. Seeing the two eating and being all romantic, she feels a deep pain in her heart, but she knows she has to pretend to be fine. Besides, it’ll be selfish and foolish of her to get jealous of two couples loving each other. She’s the intruder, and shouldn’t be getting hurt.
“Good morning,” She greets them lazily as she pulls out a chair and sits on it.
“Good morning. Did you sleep well?” Max asks, trying to be formal as he can. Of course, his wife is with him and he wouldn’t want her to feel bad about him talking to her.
“Hmm,” She only nods her head and glances at Alicia who isn’t even looking her away. Although she’s not looking her way, she can see the angry look on her face. ‘What on earth has she done to this woman? Why does she hate her this much, when she was the one that brought her here in the first place?’ Those are the questions she keeps asking herself without any answer.
An awkward silence assumes the air, as the sound of their cutleries fills the atmosphere. She eats silently, trying so hard not to glance at the couples. She wouldn’t want to be hurt by seeing them being loving toward each other.
“Are you OK?” Forgetting that his wife is still with him, he finally breaks the silence, after observing the pale look on her face for a while.
Alicia suddenly drops her cutlery as she stands up and walks away angrily.
“Ba… babe… Babe…” He quickly stands up and hurries after her.
Alicia walks briskly along the hallway, ignoring her husband that keeps calling her repeatedly. She finally storms into their room and slams the door behind her, locking it afterward. She crashes against the door and rests her head on it as she breaks into tears.
“Babe… Babe… Open the door, please,” Max’s voice sounds from outside amid the banging on the door, but she ignores him and just cries her eyes out.
“Go away, Max! I don’t want to see you!” She screams as she finally stands up to her feet and turns to the locked door.
“Come on, babe. Can you just open the door, please?” He bangs the door again.
“Go away! I don’t want to see you. She’s so important to you… You care so much about her, then just go to her. Stop bothering me, Max!” She screams at the top of her voice as she grabs the flower vase on the dresser, and crashes it against the wall.
“I hate you, Max. I hate you so much, Max. I hate you!” She cries repeatedly as she falls to her knees and cries her eyes out.
“Babe, please open the door. I’m sorry, OK? Please just open the door…”
“I told you to go away. I don’t want to see you. Stop pretending to love me, stop pretending to care about me when you don’t give a damn about how I feel…” She pauses and runs her fingers through her hair.
“I am the childless one, and she’s carrying your child. I shouldn’t be complaining, I know. I shouldn’t be sad that you’re giving her so much attention and you neglect me, but it’s because I love you… I just want my husband back,” She cries bitterly as she crashes against the wall and stares at the closed door.
“Don’t say that, please. Just please open the door, babe. I will…”
“Stay away from me, Max,” She screams. Minutes later, she hears his footsteps along the hallway, and it breaks her heart to know that he left after she asked him to leave.
She didn’t like the way he looked at her, she just want him to look at her alone with those eyes, and not any other woman. She tried not to get jealous, but she did eventually.
“You brought this upon yourself, Alicia. Why are you complaining?” Her subconscious mind reminds her, and she clutches her head tightly and grips her hair as more tears stream down her cheeks. What was her offense? She just wanted her husband to get what he wanted, but turns out that she made the biggest mistake of her life. Now, her husband has eyes for the little woman she brought here by herself. She can’t help but blame herself for everything happening to her now. It was all her fault from the onset, she brought all of these upon herself, how can she still complain that she’s in pain?
The sound of her ringing phone pulls her attention, and she glances at her phone that’s lying on the bed, and sighs. The last thing she can do now is move herself to get the phone from the bed. She feels so weak and can’t even lift a finger. She watches the phone ring until the call drops dead.
The phone beeps seconds later, and she finally drags herself up to her feet and walks sluggishly over to the bed, picking up the phone afterward. Unlocking the phone, a message pops on the screen of the phone, and she clicks on it. Her expression changes into a cold one as soon as she sees the text…
