Satisfaction

Chapter Ninety – Satisfaction.
Jenna tried the knob of the door but it didn’t still open. It’s been hours since Chen left to check on Debby.
She sighed, plopping down on the bed besides her. The only thing in the room. She had ended up being kidnapped and forced to be an accomplice.
Her current situation was far worse than she could contain.
She was beginning to harbor thoughts of turning herself to the police, after all, Stark, who she was hiding her dark side from was already involved.
Chen had drugged him for days, keeping him unconscious.
Jenna knew it wasn’t healthy but she had no say as Stark had seen Chen when he came to her house to drop instructions and he began asking questions.
The both of them were basically hostages at the moment. She hadn’t been able to contact Lucy while Debby had been sending strange letters to her.
“I don’t want Lucy to get involved, really.” She groaned. “If only there was a way to reach the outside world now.”
She regretted everything. Her happiness had only been temporary after all the length she went to achieve. She’d want to end it all already.
There was a knock on the door and she leapt from the bed. The door opened, revealing Debby, with her meal.
Aunt Jenna noticed that significant black circles were under her eyes. Even if she was the mastermind of everything, she still didn’t have enough sleel?
But of course, people like them that committed crimes for things they wanted, when they got it, they would only have it for a short while. “Can I ask you a question?”
Debby placed the meal on the bed and folded her arms. “The man is still asleep, safe and sound. What else?”
Jenna smiled. “I was only wondering why. Why you wanted Arya dead. You never spoke about it to me so I’m curious.”
The young girl rolled her eyes, then stared at the ceiling. “The man she married, I loved him. Also, I don’t think she’s a good fit for him even in a hundred years.”
Arya was surely not a good fit for the Sir Damien and even if it was an arranged marriage, he had accepted her. Arya not returning already meant she felt safe there.
Also, for Debby to receive the kind of frustration she’s been in, it meant the Wade family were fighting to protect Arya.
And didn’t she say the explosion involved Sir Damien’s only surviving cousin who protected Arya? It meant that the family loved Arya.
As weird as it sounded, it felt like a happy love story to Jenna.
Unlike, her sister’s and Stark’s marriage she tried to destroy; this time Arya and Sir Damien were okay with each other.
It would be best if Debby forgo Sir Damien and hoped for someone else. She was still young and beautiful.
“I am a nobody and shouldn’t be giving you advice but after I killed my sister to get a man, I realized the guilt I had was so much more than the happiness I got.” Jenna stated.
Debby’s hands clenched. “Shut up! You feel guilty because you killed your sister! Arya is nothing to me! Even if I don’t end up with him, I won’t be alive to see her with him!”
She had already made her mind up about not ending up with Damien. If she successfully killed his wife, there was no way he’d love her back.
However, she’d live with it cos she ended Arya’s miserable life. She’d feel happy with herself for ending the gold digger and deem it a favor she did for the man she loved.
“Then how it that a happy story? That’s just a sad story. If you wouldn’t end up with him then why not let him be happy with who he loves?” Jenna frowned.
Was the girl listening to herself? She didn’t want to be with Damien anymore. Her goal was just killing Arya.
“Look, I hate Arya. But honestly, she did nothing to me. I hate her because she’s a result from my sister and the man I loved. If you don’t gain from killing her, why do it?” Jenna asked.
The conversation was going down a path Debby wasn’t interested in. She didn’t want to see sense in anything than her own decisions. “There is a satisfaction in killing her.”
Satisfaction or bloodlust? Jenna wasn’t sure which one she meant. “Well, just know that you’d never be happy with your decision. I had time with the man I loved, you didn’t.”
Debby turned away. “I’m not you. You should’ve killed Arya and her sister so nothing will ever be between you and your man. And it’d have spared me the trouble.” she stomped off.
She slammed the door and went downstairs to Chen who was watching the news. “What are you doing?”
Chen looked up and smiled. “What do you want me to be doing? Anyway, Connor, that guy, made news recently.”
She wasn’t interested, she swiped her phone from her pockets and checked for a text. The spy she had on Lucy hadn’t given her intel yet. Had she been discovered?
“The Wades are certainly going to benefit from this publicity Connor got them.” Chen scoffed. “Spoilt brat.”
Debby became curious. When she heard Connor at first, she didn’t realize it was of the Wades. She assumed it was Chen talking about his silly friends again.
She asked. “What did he do?”
“Well, the photos we uploaded, to tag the explosion to the Wades, caused reporters to crowd at their mansion.” Connor laughed. “That part worked out well…”
“And Connor?” Debby interrupted, so he wouldn’t divert to a different subject.
“Oh, he had chase them out with an air hose, and threatened to release dogs. It was caught on camera and fans think it’s cool he was defending his cousin. Tsk.”
Debby rolled her eyes. The young man was a man child. He literally thought with his mouth. What if the consequences backfired and caused hate to the Wades?
He didn’t think at all. “That family is full of unusual people.”
Chen glanced at her. “That’s a family you are fighting to recognize you, isn’t it?”
“Not anymore. I’m just focusing on canceling Arya. Nothing more. I don’t need their recognition anymore.” She snapped.
“So give the order and an assassin will go after her. But then what do you gain from her dying?” Chen tilted his head.
That question again? Debby was getting tired of being asked.
“I gain the fact she’s dead, that’s all.”
“What do I gain from her dying?” Connor asked again.
Debby glared at him. “What did you plan to gain? Before you helped me, I never said I’d give you anything.”
“Yes but I assumed you’d be happy. If you won’t be accepted by Damien after killing Arya, then why commit murder? You don’t gain anything from it.” Chen frowned.
Debby looked away. “I gain the satisfaction…”
“That’s bullshit!” Chen chuckled. “You aren’t me, Debby. You don’t kill for fun. You aren’t even a killer. If you aren’t gaining anything, why go through the stress?”
A sigh escaped Debby’s lips. “Just leave me alone.”
