Chapter Seventy-Seven – Threaten.
Being cooped up at home wasn’t very fun to Arya.
She wasn’t an extrovert or anything but she liked the idea of being free, knowing she could stroll out if she liked.
But with recent happenings, she only had the kitchen and her room to go to. Connor who kept her company, she wrecked him. “I’m so amazing, aren’t I?” she groaned loudly.
At least, she could sprawl on the bed and had free time to watch tons of anime. Except her collection had nearly been exhausted and she was bored once again.
“I wonder if Winx is free, now?” She sighed, dragging her phone to herself. She didn’t want to distract Winx at school, since at least one of them should be learning.
Still, she sent her a message hoping for one back. She just need to ask how Seth was, not that she was curious.
It felt odd that she wasn’t curious. She used to be always curious. Maybe she was accepting her place in his life? Or was something distracting her?
“I don’t think I should get too involved with Seth either or Debby could go after him. She already know I’m acquainted to him.” Arya mumbled.
Debby was a real menace, causing trouble because she was served unrequited love. She was really a little child.
Just then, Arya’s phone beeped and she brought it to her face. It was a message from Anna. “I’m at the door.”
Arya sprang to her feet and rushed towards the door.
Suddenly she stopped and looked at her phone again. Was this another trap? Could it be Debby? Debby once had access to Anna’s phone.
Could she be using it to lure her out then release a bomb in front of her? But it shouldn’t be so easy to infiltrate the Wades Mansion, right?
“Thank you!”
Arya heard Anna’s voice as she was helped inside by a chef. She saw her sister standing by the hallway.
“Hey, Arya. I texted you, didn’t I?” Anna smiled.
Arya’s eyes dilated and she ran to her sister’s arms. She was overthinking everything now. Everybody felt suspicious.
“It’s okay, baby. I heard from Damien about the explosion. I can’t believe Aunt Jenna would go that far.” Anna seethed.
Arya released herself from her sister. How much did Damien tell her? She didn’t want her worrying about her.
Anna hit her sister on the head. “And you, why didn’t you tell me all these? Why did you keep it a secret? It was Damien that told me everything.”
Everything? Arya wanted to melt away. Didn’t Damien agree not to tell Arya so she wouldn’t be involved? Or did he think she was already involved?
Arya sighed. “It’s to make you not worry. But since our family is involved, you are now. She could use you too, against me.”
Anna folded her arms, “I don’t get it though. What is aunt Jenna thinking? Blowing up our house to kill you. What did you do to her? Will she come after me too?”
The last part worried Arya. What was their Aunt trying to gain from killing her? It was no more news that Aunt Jenna always wanted their father, but now she had him. So what else?
“I’ve been trying to contact Lucy though. I have a few words for her but she hasn’t been picking up.” Anna said, taking her phone out of her bag.
Arya frowned, taking her own phone from her pocket. Why wouldn’t Lucy answer? They needed some sort of explanation to what madness her mother was experiencing.
“Damien told me once that he helped Lucy get a job.” Arya said as she dialed Lucy’s line. “Lucy shouldn’t get stupid and try to hurt me after my husband helped her.”
When Arya referred to Damien as her ‘husband’, her sister smiled. “I don’t think Lucy is involved though. She can’t just commit murder while working for a high profile company.”
The line Arya dialed went through immediately.
Anna almost frowned. Lucy spoke. “What is it? I’m working.”
Arya noticed she didn’t sound very grumpy, just proud and slightly tired. Her new job must be fulfilling.
“First, congratulations on your job. Second, what the hell is your mother thinking, Lucy?” Arya started.
Lucy groaned. “What now? I haven’t spoken to my mother since I got this job. She hasn’t been calling either so I don’t know. I don’t care about your conflict with her…”
“We’ve no conflict with her, Lucy!” Anna grabbed Arya’s phone and yelled at Lucy. “She’s the one having with us!”
Lucy smirked. “Okay! So you two sisters want to gang up against me now? I don’t have time for this! Really.”
“Will you have time when you lose that job! If your mother keeps this up, Damien will punish you for it, you should know that!” Anna shouted again.
Arya looked around to know if anyone was around. She began pushing her sister into her room. Anna could be very loud sometimes and she didn’t want anyone hearing them.
Lucy stayed quiet. She had just gone for a short break in the restroom when the call came.
She expected to owe Arya for her husband helping her get a job but to be threatened with it, she didn’t expect that.
Also, she knew it wasn’t like Arya or Anna to threaten people. “What did my mother do?” she asked, knowing something serious must have happened.
“If you go to my father’s old house, the one we played at as kids, it has a hole in it’s back. A bomb made that hole. A bomb your mother planted there. She tried killing Arya!”
It sounded ridiculous to Lucy. She didn’t give a reply quickly. “Kill Arya?” she said after a while.
What in the world were they saying? Her mother disliked them but not to the extent of committing murder?
Even if she’d think of it, she knew she couldn’t go on with it.
“Yes, kill Arya! Look, your mother and my father are in a relationship, I don’t care. But your mother shouldn’t try take my sister from me! I won’t let her off!” Anna kept shouting.
Arya nodded in support. Aunt Jenna had her father, so she should be content. She and Anna only had each other so why was she siding with Debby to break them apart?
Lucy wanted to call her mother immediately but she stopped herself and placed her phone in her ears again. “Are you guys being serious right now? My mother is dating your dad?”
“Is that the only thing you heard?!” Anna yelled. “Your mother is trying to kill my sister. Damien knows of your mother’s involvement and he has proof. Be careful, Lucy!'”
A shiver ran down Lucy’s spine. Damien knew this? And had proof? What in the world was happening? Why was her mother fighting the Wades group? Was she nuts?
“I-I will do something about this. I’m… I will do something about it, I promise. Let Damien know this too. I wasn’t aware and I’m not involved.” Lucy said in a low tone. “I’m very…”
Anna hung up before Lucy finished. She tossed Arya’s phone back to her and scoffed. “Lucy and her mother better not annoy me!” she stomped out of the room.
