Call

Chapter Sixty-Seven – Call.
After a long hot shower, Arya was ready to hit the sack. The middle school flashback she had and Ken’s belittling words didn’t worry her anymore.
The fact that Damien was truly in love with her and she still being the groups’ main target were her new problems.
However, she didn’t want to ponder much on it and just go to sleep. As for being the main target, if she skips school and stay at home, they’d have no way of harming her.
But as for Damien’s love for her, she’d just see how it goes. With the current happenings, his eyes will be on her so she couldn’t run away from any interaction.
Just as she laid her head to sleep, her phone began to ring. She glared at the object, waiting for it to stop but it went on.
The two most important people in her life, Winx and Anna, knew of the situation she was in and she had informed them not to call her by any chance.
Whoever was calling would be someone unimportant in her life. She wasn’t about to pass on her sleep to entertain them.
The caller finally gave up and Arya grabbed her phone to switch it off. She saw the caller ID. Aunt Jenna.
Arya nearly threw up. Why did that woman think she could call her so casually and she’d pick up?
Did she forget how she treated she and her sister like trash all the time? Did she forget she had been the one who suggested to her father to sell her?
“Goodness! Her audacity is appalling! She is really nuts if she thinks she can just call me up whenever she likes…”
The phone began to ring again. It was still from Aunt Jenna.
Arya scolded herself for hesitating to switch it off the first time but she still didn’t plan to entertain the call. “She should go to hell for all I care… wait.”
Something worried Arya. Just as she hated her Aunt Jenna, her aunt must hate her millions of times back.
So why was she calling? Was it for a desperate reason? Maybe she couldn’t help but call because they was no one else to turn to?
If it was a money issue, she’d easily use her father, who’d be rejected also. “Could it be this enemy group has held my aunt hostage and she’s calling to inform me?”
That was like Lucy’s case too. She and Lucy never had a smooth relationship because of her mother but suddenly Lucy called her that day. Could it be a similar scenario?
The group might just be targeting her family members? That will raise the question of how they knew her family members.
“Maybe I should pick up first and know what’s going on.” Arya muttered and accepted the call. “Yes, what is it?”
Aunt Jenna grinned to herself. Finally the little brat was answering her call. She hoped to keep dialing and dialing till she’d tire out and answer her.
Her life and love were on the line so she can’t be dawdling on her mission. Debby had done her part by causing an explosion that’d keep Damien busy, he wouldn’t have much eyes on her.
“I feel somehow about killing off the young man’s wife even if she’s arranged but then my Lucy can easily get his heart if Arya’s out of the way.” Aunt Jenna thought.
She faked a sober look and replied Arya. “You wouldn’t believe what’s going on, Arya! What did you do to attract such enemies to yourself!”
Arya’s eyes enlarged. So she was right all along. Her enemies had found her family, or else there was no other way her aunt would know of it. “A-Are you okay?”
She hated her Aunt Jenna but if she died or get really hurt because of something pertaining to her, Arya would have a hard time forgiving herself.
“Okay? We are definitely far from that! Your father got hurt! And as stubborn as he is, he refused to go to the hospital! We don’t even have money to go there now!’ she yelled.
Arya’s face contorted. Her father got hurt? Did he try fighting back? Did the enemies try abducting him? “How serious is…”
“It’s really serious. Or else why would I call you. If he isn’t going to the hospital then he needs someone to treat him. Where are you? I’m no nurse you know. Hurry!” she yelled.
Arya jumped from her bed and began roaming around the room. She was supposed to come to help her injured father? How’d she just leave when she’s the main target?
“Can’t you do anything to help? I’d send the hospital bills when I can… I don’t have such amount on me now.” Arya mumbled.
Even if she was part of the family, they shouldn’t expect her to have access to the Wade’s bank account. Most cash she use were from Damien. She wasn’t a heavy spender naturally.
“Your father refuses… oh, are you okay? Wait…. Arya come over now!” Aunt Jenna shouted. “What trouble did you bring upon yourself that had to affect us!!”
Arya was running crazy. She had noticed how Aunt Jenna had spoken to spoken to someone else while on call. That was probably her father who wasn’t okay.
She clenched her jaw, thinking hard. If the enemies had hit her home then it must be due to frustration of not being able to get her. Leaving the house will be exposing herself.
“Aunt Jenna, if I leave the house, I could be…”
“Of course, my life means nothing to you but what about that of your father? Huh? We are innocent yet drawn to your…”
“I get it!! You two are nobodies to me now but I can’t just let you die! I’m coming, for goodness sake!” Arya yelled back.
She couldn’t just be at the receiving end of yells all the time. She was no longer her aunt’s little niece.
The call was cut after that. Arya changed to an outing dress and sped out of the room. It was risky but she wanted to have no regrets. And it’s not like her Aunt will leave her alone.
“But why will father choose now of all times to be stubborn?” Arya asked herself. “Does he want to die?”
After sneaking past the rooms, and getting to the hall, Arya found herself face to face with Junior. They must froze there.
“You were sneaking out because you’re bored of being inside too, right?” Junior asked. “Well, same, same, same!”
Arya smirked. That wasn’t really her reason but he could manage that. “Follow me. You’re good at martial arts, right?”
Junior frowned, following her. “In games only, don’t hope for any miracle to happen if we get into actual trouble.”
Arya nodded, holding unto her bag tightly. “Let’s hope that we don’t get into trouble then.”
