Chapter Sixty-Four – Second Attack.
A new issue rested on Arya’s shoulders.
The worst case scenario had happened. Damien had fallen in love with her while Seth hasn’t shown any interest on her yet.
Also, she didn’t know if she could keep going after Seth because when she came to school that morning, he had asked her how her date went.
It took her a while to remember that she yapping about a man giving her time would make Seth assume it was a date.
“He must have checked me out of his books. If I was there in the first place.” She groaned, then sipped on her juice.
To add salt to injury, there was a girl that was eating and laughing with Seth at the restaurant and Arya was seething with rage and jealousy.
She had been noticing the girl around Seth but at that point, they looked more like a couple than two friends. Worst part was, the girl was a total hottie.
Arya gulped down her juice in despair and hit her head on the wall besides her. “I am a total loser at this point!”
“What’s up on now?” Winx returned to her seat by Arya. She glanced at Seth and the girl. “Her name is Michelle, if you want to know. She runs a gym class I was once interested in.”
Arya sat up straight. “Gym? So that’s how she got a fire body! I might sign up to her… no, I want nothing to do with her.”
Winx shook her head. “Here you go again, hating on girls who are around Seth when you can’t even get him.”
Arya glared at her but took her eyes down. It’s not like Winx wasn’t saying the truth, only she shouldn’t rub it in her like that. She was trying her best.
She didn’t want Winx knowing of Damien’s feelings for her or she would be in support of him winning her over.
“I will need an ally to help me not to fall for Damien. It’s hilarious how that’s the only thing I can do…”
Seth stood up from where he sat with the girl and stomped off angrily. Arya was stunned, her mind replayed what happened before he left.
“He had received a phone call, right?”
The girl he sat with, Michelle, looked confused and annoyed at his abrupt leave. She stood up and followed him.
Winx pulled Arya back to her seat, when she attempted running towards Seth. “What are you trying to do? Didn’t you see how Seth left? It made people give him stares.”
“I just want to know what’s wrong.” Arya defended, pulling Winx’s hands from hers but she didn’t move to follow Seth.
She understood Winx was right. If she ran after him, it’d look weird, like she had been watching or she was the cause of him leaving.
“I wonder what his phone call had been about. He made Michelle look bad by leaving like that.” Winx sighed.
That didn’t matter to Arya at all. “I wonder what came up.”
The two stared at the door for a while, before forgetting the scenario that had played and focusing on their lunch.
However, after the meal, they found out what happened. An explosion had occurred at a newly bought landed property which was rumored to belong to the Wade group.
With how Seth reacted to the news, Arya speculated that the land was the property where Damien’s prospect with the deputy governor was to happen.
A reserve for endangered sea creatures. Arya overheard Damien speaking of it. Why would anyone want to stop the project?
At the moment, it was seen as the doing of enemies of the deputy governor, still the masses think it could be another attack to the Wade group.
Everyone was now wondering who wanted the Wade’s group downfall and why. To them, Sir Damien was a young billionaire who only wanted the good of everyone.
Of course, majority of the comments said the enemies were other billionaires who were jealous of his success while others thought it’s an inner dispute in his company.
All were false however.
Damien flipped the table over, making all the files and paperwork to be tumbled over. “This is Debby!”
Ken sat, leg crossed, on the other side of the office. “Yes, it’s most definitely your little friend who’s in love with you.”
Damien pranced from left to right, clenching his fists.
He never wanted to start any reserve for endangered species but along the way, he decided to use the prospect as a means to gain the deputy governor’s favor.
Everything was going well and now Debby ruins it? Was this her second attack she spoke of? It was a good one. She should await his response as he’d no longer be lenient with her.
A hand was placed on his shoulders and he stopped moving. Ken handed him his phone. “Arya with a red heart has been calling. Your phone is on vibration mode?”
Damien took the phone and picked Arya’s call. “Are you okay? Where you attacked too?”
Arya nodded at Winx confirming their suspicions. “So the attack was from those people again? The people after me?”
Ken signaled to Damien to put his phone on speaker and Damien obeyed. “Yeah, it seems so though I’m not very sure. It could be enemies of the deputy governor too.”
“No, it’s the group. The deputy governor won’t have enemies that’ll be bold enough to affect the Wade group as well. This attack was after the Wade group.” Arya convinced.
Damien knew that but he didn’t want her worrying about her safety or anything like that. “Even still, don’t worry…”
“I’d come home now, just in case something comes after me. I’d call my sister and ask how she’s doing. And yes, I’d be discrete.” Arya added, with a smile.
Damien smiled subconsciously. “Thank you. Help me do that. I’d be home late today but I’m okay too.”
After sharing goodbyes, he hung up and sighed.
Ken was staring into his soul. “This Arya is smarter than you make her seem. If she understood the gravity of the attacks and who they were after, also thought of countermeasures…”
“I never said she was stupid, you know.” Damien sighed. “You were the one who didn’t want to get to know her.”
Ken smirked. “Well, I’m a little curious now.”
