Chapter Fifty-One – Their past.
Arya bowed to Seth after alighting the car.
“Thank you for dropping me off. Have a safe trip home.” She smiled. There was no reply from Seth, rather he was staring at someone behind her.
“Arya! Thank goodness, I was about leaving.” It was Anna running towards them. She paused on seeing Seth and smirked. “Hey, pretty boy, howdy?”
Seth looked away on being called ‘pretty boy’.
Arya frowned slightly. Her sister had the habit of calling younger boys with childish names. “Stop teasing him. I’ve been trying to reach you for a while now.”
“Of course you have. Didn’t Damien tell you? Tch. I just got into trouble for nothing. He better give me the best doctors as he said.” Anna ranted to the skies.
Seth snapped his head at her direction. Doctors?
Was something wrong with her? He grew concerned. And with the way she and Arya talked about Damien so informally, he confirmed they were close to the CEO.
Arya pinched her sister to prevent her from talking too much. She didn’t also want her to accidentally spill that she was married to Damien. “Well, Seth. Thanks again for the ride.”
Anna turned to both of them. “Uh-huh. Thanks for dropping her home but Damien can do that any day…. Ahhhh!” she cried as Arya stepped on her foot.
“Ha-ha! Don’t mind her. Bye.” Arya waved, a fake smile on her face as she pulled her sister and ran into the building.
Seth just stared at where they just left. Damien could drop her home any day? Were they closer than he thought?
He shrugged. He knew Arya since middle school but didn’t know if she ever dated anyone so he couldn’t tell her type.
He wished her luck in it though, Sir Damien was a dream man for lots of girls even if he was already married now.
His eyes went to where Anna had left with her sister. He remembered Anna recently, while depressing over his heartbreak and Edna’s betrayal.
He didn’t imagine the heavens would be kind enough to make him see her after thinking about her all through the other night. She had been his first heartbreak.
When he had confessed to her, she replied that he was a cute junior to her and nothing else. Not even his money or gifts could make her change her mind.
To avoid being a pest, he avoided her but it took a toll on his mental health for a while.
Seth smiled, remembering the fond memories.
His heart didn’t yearn for her anymore but he was surely glad to see her doing well. He started his car and drove away.
Anna and Arya has gotten into the room with Arya breathing heavily, while wondering if Seth got the message Anna was trying to pass across.
“Don’t ever mention Damien is my husband in front of Seth! Why are you doing that?” she yelled at her sister.
Anna, who was still trying to catch her breath, from the unexpected race, clenched her fists. “Don’t tell me you are trying to hide it from him? That guy isn’t into you.”
“You saw him drive me home, right?” Arya said proudly.
Anna seethed. “Yes, but doesn’t mean a thing! Damn, girl! You attended same middle school and now same university with him, it’s the least he could do for you when it’s raining!”
Arya shook her head. It should mean something. He laughed a lot when they were chatting in the car so they have some chemistry together. “He could like me. He is nice to me.”
“Please, he isn’t a rude person, right? So being nice to you doesn’t mean romantic feelings. Heck, he might even be nice to you cos of me, though I doubt.” Anna mumbled.
But Arya picked it up. Seth being nice to her because of her sister? Was there a story between them she didn’t know?
Her mind went back to when Seth had asked about her sister. And also how her sister spoke informally with him when all she should know about him were ‘he’s Arya’s crush’.
“What do you mean by that?” she asked sternly.
“Forget it.” Anna waved her hands. “My point is…”
“Forget your point. What do you mean by he could be nice to me because of you?! Don’t keep any secret from me! I hate when you all do it.” Arya referred to Damien in the last part.
Her sister sighed, feeling disappointed with the amount of emotional vulnerability her sister was showing over a man that didn’t share her feelings. “Baby girl, calm down.”
Arya paused. Those words ‘baby girl, calm down’ were her mother’s usual phrase whenever she or Anna threw a tantrum about something.
She relaxed, feeling better after being reminded of her mother. “I’m calm so tell me. Did you know Seth before?”
“First, I didn’t know he was related to you but there was a junior boy from your middle school who liked me, who was a senior in another school.” Anna started.
Her sister’s eyes widened ins hock. Was that junior Seth? Or was related to Seth? “He liked you when you weren’t even in his school?”
Anna laughed. “I wondered about it too but it was when our both schools junior soccer team competed. I was among the seniors who welcomed the other school’s junior team.”
Still, Arya didn’t think it was enough time to like a girl you just met. “This junior boy is Seth, right?”
“Who else? Of course it’s him. He scored a goal, I think. I had commented on it and I guess that’s was the only interaction we had. Next I saw was him confessing.” Anna shrugged.
Arya knew her sister wasn’t lying about the story, even if it sounded so sudden. She concluded that her sister might not remember the other details.
But her shoulders slumped. “Since he asked about you today, I guess he still remembers you. And he might have gotten flustered when you called him pretty boy.”
“Yeah, I said it to make him flustered… but with honest intentions though, just to tease him.” Anna quickly added.
Arya rolled her eyes and folded her arms. “That’s not still enough to make me leave him. You guys couldn’t work out but we will.”
“Really? Just as him and I were one-sided, so is you and him! It would never work if the feelings are one sided! Believe it or not!” Anna told her sister harshly.
Arya was quiet for a while, before looking down.
“Why do everyone, whose opinion matter to me, try to dash my feelings for Seth? Can’t anyone support my happiness?”
