Chapter Seventeen – Seth called.
A smirk was on Selena’s face as she retouched her hair and added powder to her face. Her room door opened and Debby walked in with slumped shoulders.
“I watched your confrontation with my brother’s wife.” Selena said, a smirk on her face.
“She won’t be your brother’s wife for long.” Debby mumbled, searching for an item in her bag.
Selena chuckled, looking at herself in her mirror. She nodded, satisfied with the result. “My brother’s wife is quite a badass. I’m beginning to like her.”
A bag dropped to the ground and she jolted, turning to it.
“She isn’t your brother’s wife! And you shouldn’t like her!” Debby shouted.
Selena wasn’t fazed by her screams, if anything, it pissed her. She ignored her and looked back at the mirror, checking for a hair out of place, She saw none.
“Don’t get crazy with that puppy love of yours. My brother is married. I tested his wife and she seems like she can keep up with my energy so congratulations to us.” Selena faced Debby.
The teenager had a look of betrayal on her eyebrows which made Selena smile. “I have another unmarried brother though. Junior. You must have met him. He’s adorable, right?”
Debby sighed, looking away from her. “It’s up to me now.”
Selena frowned. What was up to her? She shook the thought off her mind and applied more lip gloss on her lips, she smacked them and smiled at the effect.
She left the room, “See ya later, Debby.”
Debby turned to her again and mouthed inaudible words, she collapsed on her bed, the brim of her eyes filled with tears. It felt like she was unimportant again. Invisible again.
How could she not love Damien when he was the only one who valued her opinions. She loved him since she was fourteen after he had saved her from killing herself.
She had suffered bullying for years, and her parents couldn’t help get over her self depreciation, only Damien could and helped discover her ingenuity. How could she let him go?
She wiped her tears, sniffing back the rest. “I won’t let go.” She muttered. For all she knew, that poor looking girl could be a gold digger just wanting to use Damien’s wealth.
Even if he’s in love with her, she’d do everything in her power to rid him from the girl. She stormed out of the room.

Arya stared at her phone, looking at the phone number of Seth that Winx had sent her. She had saved it already.
Was there a need to contact him when they’d meet soon?
She sighed dropping her phone. Maybe she should wait till they meet so it’d be more heartfelt as she tells him.
But then her hands begun shaking when she saw him calling.
She didn’t remember him having her line. Could it be Winx gave it to him? She left her seat, and looked around to be sure no one was listening to her.
“Hello?” she answered, hoping to act like she didn’t know it was him.
“Oh, hey! It’s me, Seth. Winx said you needed to talk to me about something and it’s urgent. Are you okay?” he asked.
Arya’s eyes twitched. What did Winx mean by that? She only asked for his phone line and not to tell him anything. She didn’t know what to say.
“Arya, are you okay?” Seth asked again.
Hearing him ask about her made Arya’s cheeks redden. “Yeah, it’s not urgent, don’t mind Winx.” She chuckled nervously.
“Oh, okay. What is it?”
“I can tell you tomorrow at the summit don’t worry. Don’t get excited, just an observation.” She replied.
“Oh, the summit. I didn’t want to come but I’d come now.” Seth chuckled lightly.
Arya smiled to herself. “Okay then. Bye.”
He hung up after a “Yeah, and wear a jacket tomorrow, I’m hearing it’d be quite cold. Bye.”
Those little details made Arya smile wider. She swirled in her room but stopped when she heard a sound outside the door. She sat down, but made little hops on the chair.
There was a knock on the door. Her forehead creased, wondering who it’d be. If it was that naughty teenager or Selena, they were right on time to spoil her mood.
She swung the door open, wearing a frown, it faded seeing Damien. “Oh, it’s you.” She backed off.
“Yeah, where you busy?” he asked, seeing her frown.
“No, I thought it was some… you know, those girls that don’t like me. I wasn’t doing anything.”
“Girls? Someone else apart from Selena?” he asked, slapping his laptop on the bed. Arya watched his reaction. Was he annoyed by that?
She didn’t want him scolding anyone again. Especially if it was that teenager. She shook her head. “Nothing. Girls at school aren’t a big fan of me either.”
Damien gazed at her for a while before gazing. “That will change when they know you married me. Flex the card.”
Arya chuckled, looking away. “I will flex it.”
Yeah, she was definitely going to be popular for being his wife but she hoped it wouldn’t stop Seth from liking her. Maybe she’d tell him that it was an arranged marriage.
She packed her hair in a ponytail and folded it inside her hairnet. She looked at her face on the mirror to be sure they was no powder smudge on her face.
She smiled on seeing her dark circles were leaving. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed Damien staring at her. She wondered if she should meet his gaze.
“But it’d be too awkward.” She thought against it. She bit his lower lips, slowly getting off the chair she was on. Was that how he would act during the one year?
“Have you eaten yet?” he asked, getting into bed. Arya froze. Was he sleeping in with her? She exhaled. He was either acting too much or not at all.
She nodded. “Yeah, how could I miss it?”
With hesitated steps, she sauntered towards the bed. Damien was on his laptop again but as he was already inside the sheets, Arya was sure he wouldn’t be busy for long.
Just as she tried resting a leg on the bed, her phone rang and she jumped out of the bed. “I’d go get it!”
She gasped on seeing it was Winx. She wanted to yell at her for telling Seth she wanted to speak with him, but since Damien was in the room, she spoke lightly.
“Hey Winx. Howdy?” she spoke emotionlessly so Winx will know she was mad at her.
“Hey,” Winx laughed. “Tell me you told Seth. He said he wouldn’t be coming to the summit so I decided he should call you today.”
“Girl, that was a wrong move!” She raised her voice. She noticed Damien look at her and reduced her voice. “I will handle this tomorrow. Prepare to die.”
She hung up and faced Damien, a fake smile on her face but he didn’t look. She breathed out, relieved, then hurried to bed.
