Chapter Nine: Goddess Selena.
Arya grabbed her sister’s phone and glared at it. That man was really Sir Damien.
The picture she was looking at, Damien was wearing a white shirt and was cheering with some other students.
The background looked like her sister’s university, the current university Arya attended. How could it be? She had met Sir Damien already without knowing.
She slapped the phone on the table and screamed. “I told Damien about my marriage and spoke about feeling weird about it!”
How could the universe be so cruel to her? She wanted the ground to open and swallow her that instant.
Anna squinted her eyes. “Wait, you guys have met?” she took her phone away from the table, her sister was slamming.
Her sister rose from the chair, in panic. “He helped me get the taxi I used to get here. You see those clothes?” She pointed at the bags she brought. “Damien helped me shop for them.”
“That’s weird. Was he stalking you?” Anna frowned.
Arya shook her head vehemently. “No, actually he was my marriage counselor, your friend, Dean, introduced to me. You know Damien and I never met.” She shrieked. “It’d be so awkward.”
Anna watched her sister wail. She knew Dean had set that up, he was the biggest Arya-Damien shipper after her. And marriage counselor? Damien was a freaking CEO. What was he doing?
She smirked. Well, he made a good impression on her sister for her to defend him that he wasn’t stalking her.
And Anna was sure Damien had seen Arya before. Both in the past and in her phone. “Don’t worry about it, Arya. I’d explain to him…”
“No!” Arya snapped her head at her sister, her eyes blood shot. “Don’t let him know it’s me.”
“But you’d still meet him when you guys get married.” Anna laughed.
Arya looked like a sad puppy. Her forehead creased and she folded her arms, breathing heavily. “This is so messed up.”
Her plate of food was pushed to her and she glared at it. “Sorry, I have lost my appetite.”
“The heck! For chicken too?” Anna scolded. “Don’t bother about Damien, he’d think it’s fate that brought you two to such situation. He’s a bit religious. Don’t worry, eat up.”
She pushed the food to her sister and walked away.
Arya picked up her fork and poked at her chicken. Was it fate that brought them two to such situation? Or just her silly desperation?
She brushed the thoughts aside. It was just a coincidence, not even fate. Was there even a bright side to the situation? Maybe that Damien will understand she’s new to marriage and be patient with her.
“Wait, I’m not thinking of actually marrying him, am I?” she asked herself. She stole a glance of his picture on her sister’s phone. He’d make a fine husband.
She shrugged. “Too bad we are only having a contract marriage.”
Anna had been watching her sister’s expressions, she was saddened by her last words that she’d still see him as a contract husband. But she knew Damien wouldn’t let go that easily.
She wasn’t yet sure why he never did anything about his feelings all those years and only decided to when his mother forced him to get a wife.
Either ways, she was happy he was marrying her sister. She needed to be at peace that a man better than their father would show her sister true love and happiness.
(At the Wade’s Mansion)
Damien in a black robe, was surrounded by different sorts of wedding gowns within a white wall. Few ladies, in white uniforms, helped him take out the gowns from their boxes.
“What do you think about this one, butler Jim?” he asked the man standing besides him.
“I think you should send it back, along with the rest.” The butler huffed, standing away from the gowns.
A sigh escaped Damien’s lips and he tilted his head when his eyes caught a gown spread on the couch at the end of the room. It was off shoulder but with a long sleeved hand and flowers.
It reminded him of the dress he saw Arya try to take but it was shorter, the one he was staring at was prettier and with a flare-to-the-ground down side.
“She’d like it.” He said to himself.
His butler turned to him and raised a brow. “Why wouldn’t she like it? Only the price is enough for her to want to keep them all.”
“Chill, I’m not buying all.” He replied with a frown.
“Don’t even buy any. Stop getting over yourself, it’s a contract marriage.”
“To her not me. Again, chill.” Damien left the couch he was on, almost getting pissed. The Butler followed behind him as he walked towards the gown.
As he took it, the door to the room flew open and a black haired girl walked in. All the ladies in white, stood by the side and bowed. She nodded and they continued what they were doing.
Damien noticed it and smirked. “What are you now? Princess Selena?”
“Goddess Selena actually, have a problem?” the girl walked in and stood in the middle of all the gowns. Damien smiled, hugging the gown close to his chest.
“All these gowns are basic. Don’t tell me you are selecting according to her taste. Her taste must be poor.” She turned to Damien. “Don’t bring a girl with poor taste here, brother.”
Her brother ignored her, but came closer to show the gown he was with. “What do you think?” he studied her expression.
“Hmm… this one is less basic.” She looked at the rest. “Where did you get all these ones from?” She was asking the ladies in white.
Damien chuckled and gestured for the ladies to send the rest back. “Thank you for the help. I’ve picked one.”
Selena rolled her eyes at his politeness and plopped down on the couch. “Butler Jim, give me a rundown on what this girl is like.”
Her brother looked from her and then to the Butler and walked away from them. He left to package the dress that will be sent to Arya.
The Butler went on his gossip mode and stood besides Selena. “The girl is from an average family, dead mother, irresponsible father and a sus aunt, by sus, I mean her aunt and her dad seem to be in a relationship.”
Selena’s face contorted. “That’s messed up.”
“Heavily.” Her brother agreed, walking back into the room. “Why didn’t you tell me these? Do you think Anna know? She deserved to know.”
“She knows. We had actually come there together but she wanted to pick a few things. I bet she picked on some conversation after I left her.” The butler answered.
Damien dropped the package on the Butler’s hand and took out his phone. “Send that package to Anna. Arya is staying with her.”
“What do you want to do?” his sister asked.
He said. “Call Anna.”
“Why? Why do you care about what’s going on in her family?”
“Cos she’s his friend.” Butler Jim replied, giving Selena a stern look.
“And sister-in-law.” Damien added. The Butler frowned at him but he gave him a wink.
