“Wow…,” are The only words Kiera can say, mesmerized by the beauty of nature.
“You like it,” Jason asked, standing beside Kiera and staring at her awed expression that did not state whether she likes it or not.
“No,” said Kiera, turning her face towards Jason, and looking directly into his eyes.
“Really,” replied Jason sadly, the disappointment clearly showing on his face. But soon, the sadness shifted to stun as Kiera wrapped her hands around Jason, holding him tightly close to her.
“I love it,” Kiera gleefully said. “Sorry,” Kiera apologized, noticing the closeness of their bodies and creating a safe distance between them.
“No problem,” said Jason, a little sad that she still feels awkward being close to him, but he smiles, not wanting to ruin the beautiful atmosphere between them. “Come,” Jason holds out his hand, asking Kiera to come with him.
Kiera puts her hand in his as Jason walks them somewhere. “So why do you lie to me? You said we are going to do some important work, and you are here. You should tell them we can bring Aria and some food and enjoy a picnic in this beautiful place.”
“I didn’t lie. We are working,” said Jason, gazing at Kiera. “At least I’m…,”
“How?” Kiera questioned, cutting Jason in the middle.
“Well… Making someone happy is very important too,” Kiera smiled, hearing Jason’s words. “You’re sad, so I thought of surprising you, but I guess you don’t like things like this,” Jason said, acting sad and sighing loudly.
“No, I love it, and thank you for bringing in such a beautiful place.” Jason giggled at hearing Kiera’s words.
Jason held himself near the river with Kiera holding her hand, and both of them looked along the river bank. With both of them having a different reaction from each other, while Jason, beaming delightedly, studied at Kiera’s face, Kiera’s mouth was open wide in awe.
“It’s beautiful,” Kiera said, admiring the beauty of the pink blossoms that are deliberately falling from the trees to the ground. And there, around the trees by the river, a blanket spread with a picnic basket on top of it. And the river plays its role in intensifying the beauty of the view by reflecting natural beauty.
“Jason, when did you plan all this?” Kiera asked, fascinated by all the work Jason has done to make her happy.
“I can’t take them all. I just asked David to do this for me,” said Jason, rubbing the back of his neck.
“When,” questioned Kiera.
“In the car,” replied Jason. “Come sit. If your interrogations are complete.”
Kiera followed as they both sat on the blanket. “So what’s in the basket, ’cause I’m hungry.” Jason passed the basket to Kiera, looking at her with a smile.
Both of them sat silently as none of them made any attempt to speak anything, silently, admiring the beauty of the cherry blossom and the flowing of the river. And the orange sun that is sinking into the river. And as the sun is setting, both of them lay lazily on the back over the blanket, with their bodies a mere distance apart, looking up, cherishing the blossom falling down above the green grass.
“Thank you,” Kiera said after a long while. “I always wanted to see cherry blossoms but didn’t have time to see them with my own eyes.”
“I hope you like it, being here,” Jason replied.
Spring is here; the cherry blossom is the sign,
Oh, my love is a beautiful sight.
Underneath the sky, with my lover beside.
I don’t know why I love the pink in the sky.
The beauty of nature is not so easy to define.
Oh, my love, I love the cherry blossoms in the sky.
“What is the poem?” asked Jason, surprised by hearing the poetry words from Kiera’s mouth.
“It’s my mother’s,” Kiera said.
“She was a poet,” asked Jason.
“Don’t know, never seen nor know about her.”
“Then the poem,”
“Oh, I read in her diary, which I stole from my dad.” Kiera said, “Her diary is full of her poems, with everything related to love.”
“You seem to love her,” Jason asked.
“NO,” Kiera said in one word. “I didn’t love anyone I have never seen or know about;” She sighed, calming herself down. “Never mind, the poem just slipped from my mouth.” Jason nodded at her words, not wanting to question anything else and ruin her mood.
“Let’s leave, it will be dark soon, and it’s not good to stay here in the dark,” said Jason, asking for Kiera’s hand. They both stood up and packed, making their way out of the meadow.
And just like time started passing gradually with Kiera working under Jason in office and them being freinds but living with each other under one roof like a family with their daughter Aria by there side.
“Kiera… read all the documents carefully. I want you to revise all of them for today’s meeting,” Jason said, handing Kiera some files.
“On it,” Kiera replied, making her way quickly to her desk to finish the task Jason asked her to do.
Time passes quickly, and it’s not like people say that it feels like tomorrow when Kiera joined to work with Jason, not knowing what to do, or how to do it. But here she is now. A month has passed with her working for Jason as his assistant. And honestly, the doubtfulness that Kiera was once feeling is now long forgotten. Now she likes every second of her time working here.
The best part is Jason never differentiates between her or other employees. He treats her like any other employee at work. And staying so helping Kiera learn new things every day, maybe one day, she restarts her father’s company, restoring it to the glow that it was before when her father was handling it. For today, Jason has given us the opportunity to Kiera on presenting an important new assignment to our company’s brand-new customer, which can help the company gain a huge profit if everything goes as planned. It’s all in Kiera’s hands if she goes to work.
Morning comes afternoon, and time with Kiera comes into action. “You okay,” Jason looks at Kiera’s hands, which are shaking. Kiera nodded her head in reply, turning her face to Jason. “Remember, I will be there with you, and look at me whenever you need help. Okay,” Jason said, placing his hands on either side of her shoulder.
“Now smile, and show them who Kiera Grey is,” Jason said, smirking. Kiera looked at him, raising her eyebrows. “What…..,”
“Sorry…, but I must say teh surname suits you better than it does to me.”
“Yeah, right,” Kiera said sarcastically.
“Come here.” Jason opened his arms wide, hugging Kiera hard.
“What was that for,” asked Kiera.
“Good luck, what…. the world’s most famous bachelor is touching you. You should be grateful.”
“Like I care,”
“You hurt me,” Jason joked, holding his chest as if it were hurting him.
“You’re a child, sometimes,” Kiera said, laughing happily.
“Only for you,” Jason replied, laughing with Kiera. “Feeling better, now,”
“Wait, you did all this to make me laugh,” Kiera questioned, and Jason nodded his head in reply.
“Laughter is the best therapy in a situation like this. Now let’s go before we are let.” Kiera smiled again, heart beating at seeing how much Jason cared for her. Nobody will believe he was the same person who hated her so heartily a few months back, and now he can’t even see her sadness. “Come,” Jason called, opening the door for her as both left for Kiera’s first presentation all by themselves.
Kiera, with Jason by her side, entered together in the conference room. All eyes turned to them as they both walked inside. Every person present in the room stood regarding Jason’s authority as they both made their way to their respective seats, with Jason moving to the chairperson’s position and Kiera in the space to his left.
“So if everyone is here, then let’s start the conference,” Aaron said, settling on the chair on Jason’s right. Aaron looks different in the room. He no longer looks like the person Kiera sees daily. The person sitting in front of her is someone who takes his work seriously. His face doesn’t have the same smirk that moves and carries around with him, and Aaron has an authoritative aura around him.
Jason nodded his head in an executive manner at Aaron’s words. “Kiera,” Jason called her name.
Kiera stands from the place she was sitting with the presentation in hand. The projector screen comes down as the room goes dark. Her heart is pounding with her hands, sweaty and shaking. I have never done something like this before. And the only question running through her mind is what if something goes wrong and fools herself in front of all the people present in the room, that not all I might make Jason lose one of the biggest deals causing him a big, he trusted me what if I ruin his reputation? Stop! It’s not the time to think about things that make no sense. I remember the words Jason said to me as I turned my head towards him with my eyes focused on him; he looked and signaled me to calm down by the blink of his eyes. I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. I can do it, and I will do it. Emptying my mind, I present the presentation that I prepared so hard, doing my best with all confidence and determination.
Kiera sighed a deep breath in relief on finishing the way she wanted to. She can’t say how she performed, but after completing the presentation with no problems, everything went smoothly and was better than she expected it to be.
But as she turns her face around, every person who’s present in the room is staring at her, even Jason, and not a single person in the room tries to utter a word, everyone silently watching her.
The feeling of appreciation that she was having for herself a minute before. Instantly changing to doubt regarding the stern face of people in the room.
With her head down, failing to complete her task, Kiera moved to her seat with distress. But the sound of people applauding made her head lift and look up, watching everyone clap. They don’t do that for whatever reason everyone is clapping. But as people started praising me, for how well they presented the presentation, with people saying being an assistant and mediocre, I did very well as a first-timer.
Kiera turned her face towards Jason, who was clapping for her with others, but his eyes and smile on his face say how proud he is of Kiera on her first success.
