I am rushed to the pack clinic when my water breaks a month early. Darius is in a tither. I think he is more panicked than me. I am the one giving birth. “How are you feeling, baby?” He rubs my arm as I lay in the bed.
“I’m in pain. What do you think?” I growl.
“I know, baby.” He kisses my head like he is so sorry. Yeah, I’ll bet he’s sorry. He’s the one that wanted me pregnant. “You can do this, you are so strong.”
Markus comes into the room right when he says that. “I told you years ago that you were strong.”
He comes in and kisses my head. “How is the best sister in law in the world?”
Darius growls. “My mate.”
“I know. I clearly called her my sister in law.” He hands Darius a bag. “Mom wanted you to have this.”
Darius takes the bag and looks inside. He pulls out a stick. “What the hell is this for?”
Another contraction hits and I grab Darius’s hand like I will make him feel every ounce of pain that I am going through. Darius is clenching his teeth. Markus laughs. “I believe mom intended for you to bite on the stick.” Darius just flicks the stick at Markus’s head. “Don’t kill the messenger.” He laughs. “I am going to go. I will be back to see the babies later.” He kisses my head again. “You got this.” He leaves with a smile on his face. It is nice to see him like that, but uncomfortable sometimes too. I know he is still attracted to me. At least he knows I am with Darius, it’s just the kisses on my head sometimes linger.
Darius sits on the bed next to me. “So, try not to break my hand. I know it will heal, but you are vicious.” Since the contraction passes I can laugh a little.
“You are so in trouble.” I growl at him.
“Never. You love me.” He kisses my lips.
“You are lucky I am in labor.” I lean my head back.
“I love you baby.” He gives me another kiss.
“Say that again, after I break your hand.” I quirk an eyebrow at him.
He laughs. “As many times as it takes. I have to make sure you know it every second of every day.”
Mom comes rushing in the door. “How are you feeling sweetie?” She comes to my side. I am so glad to have her with me. The only mom I have ever had in my life that I can remember. My mom died so long ago that I can’t even remember her. The only reason why I know what she looks like, is the photo that I keep by our bed.
“Like my guts are punching their way out. That is putting it nicely.”
She pats my hand. “I understand. Not to mention those babies are not coming out small.”
Darius looks at his mom. “Why did you send me a stick?”
She looks at him confused. “I didn’t send you a stick, why would I send you a stick?”
Darius growls. “I swear I am going to kick his ass.”
I laugh. “That’s why he did it. To mess with you.”
Mom waves it off. “Oh, he was only playing Darius.”
“Yeah, funny.” He grumbles. At least they are now acting like typical brothers.
As the babies come into the world there is elation through the pack and through the family. Even Connor is here to see his new cousins.
Darius holds one baby, while I hold the other as people leave. Two strong boys. “This is everything I ever wanted. You as the mother of my children. My sons. Look at these guys.”
They are big. “I think we should name this one Luke and that one Micheal.”
Darius nods. “You can name them whatever you want. My beautiful mate.” He smiles at me. I look at our sons, they both look exactly like him. They have blue eyes, but other than that, they look exactly like their dad.
Micheal has a little birthmark on his neck, so it won’t be too difficult to tell them apart. They look perfect. I know in a few years they will be little terrors and I will want to pull my hair out, but for now, I am content to have my little boys.
Darius watches me. “You look amazing. I can’t wait to try for a girl.”
I start shaking my head. “Oh, no, this was enough for me.”
“Come on baby, you know you enjoyed making them.” He winks at me.
“Still not happening.” I shake my head.
“We’ll put a pin in it.” He smirks.
“You are hopeless, you know that?”
“You remind me every so often. I remind you that you are my other half.” He bends over and kisses my head. “You are the one I will love until my dying breath.”
“Well, as long as you love me, I guess I can love you back.” I smirk. I am exhausted. “Now, I need sleep. Can you help?”
He sets down Micheal in a little bassinet, then takes Luke from me, setting him down in the same bassinet. He slides into the bed next to me. “Sleep baby. I got them, until they need to eat.”
I turn and rest my head on his chest. “Thank you.” I nuzzle in. I am perfectly content with my life now. Sure there are still problems, like a pouting Sasha or even other she-wolves that try to claim I am not good enough. They all become less and less bothersome. Darius pays them no mind. He is only for me, as I am only for him. Now we have our little family and everyone else that is by our side.
It’s amazing how things have turned around. I know that early stuff was because of Markus, but sometimes it still bothers me. I talk to mom about it, it helps. Darius and I work through any troubles that we have. He doesn’t get violent or excessively jealous any more. He is now the perfect mate that I always hoped for.
I feel like my life is content. I don’t have to stress on evil spirits or goddess visits. I am able to just live my life. Now with my sons, I now feel full. My heart swells with love that I feel for all those around me.
