Chapter 46

Book:Fleeing My Mate Published:2024-6-2

We spent the next couple of days just resting. Doing much of the same that we did the first day. Then on the third day I am woken up by the Luna linking me. “He is here. Meet me in the library.”
I sneak out of the bed and get dressed before Darius wakes up. His medication makes him a bit more tired than he would like, but it is working in my favor this morning. I don’t want him to stop me. He doesn’t need to know I lied until it’s done. I tiptoe down the stairs and get in the library without a soul seeing me.
Once in there I see a man a little older than mom. He smiles at me. “You must be Sophia. I am Darius and Markus’s uncle Kevin. I am here to help you with this experience. My sister is going to guard the door and make sure that we are not disterbed. She is going to come in here for a bit to help with the initial part, then she will be out. Are you comfortable with that?”
“Whatever it takes to get answers.” I nod to him. I really just want all of this behind us.
“Alright Cristina. Let’s get this girl set up.” He calls to his sister.
Mom is right by my side. She guides me over to a bed that is set up for me to lay on. She has me sit with my legs over the side. “Ok, so I told you about that blood part. There is going to be some chanting and some prayer. As soon as we reach a point where we think the goddess has accepted the communication we will lay you down. Are you ready?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” I give her a small smile with my legs crossed. I am scared shitless. What if it doesn’t work? What if Darius is right and she kills me? I might be making a big mistake.
“Don’t worry about anything. I will be close by. I won’t let anything bad happen to you.” She returns my smile. Only hers seems more sure.
Kevin comes back. He has a goblet and a knife in his hand. “I want you to drink this. It’s water from her sacred pool. Nothing that will hurt you or the babies.”
I take the goblet from him. It looks like water, but when I taste it, it’s like the water exploded in flavor, yet not. It’s the most delicious tasting water I have ever had. As soon as I finish the water, he takes the goblet back. Next he takes my hand. “I am only going to draw enough blood to make it run. You will heal quickly.”
I nod and prepare for the cut. He takes my right palm and makes a cut across it. The blood pools and then drips into the goblet. My blood mixes with the little droplets of water that are left, but it is more of a lava lamp effect. They don’t totally mix. I guess that is the sacred water right there. He sees my look. “This is a good thing.”
He would know more than me. I just nod. “Alright I want you to close your eyes and concentrate on the goddess. Think about what you want to talk to her about. If she thinks it is worthy enough of her time she will pull you to her.”
He pats my hand as I close my eyes. I can hear him begin his prayer as I concentrate on what I want to talk to the goddess about. Markus and Darius. The confusion around our mate bonds and the conception of the twins. I can hardly hear what he is saying when I feel my body drift. Then my soul feels like it is departing. I can start to hear around me again, but it’s like I am outside my body.
“I thought you said that it would take time?” Mom shouts at Kevin.
“It’s supposed to. The only reason for it to go this fast is because the goddess wanted her to call on her.”
I am looking down on the situation. Mom looks like she just caught me and her and Kevin are adjusting my body so that I am laying down.
Suddenly I am pulled out of the room. I barely have time to blink before I am in a meadow. It has slight cascading hills, and small white flowers decorate the grass. It’s night, the full moon high in the sky and a beautiful woman stands before me. She is tall with dark hair. Her skin is creamy white, like the moon itself. Her eyes are a blazing purple. “Finally, I have been waiting for you to communicate with me for so long.” She lets out a huge sigh. “We have so much to discuss. Please sit.”
