When I closed my eyes, though, I saw Lee’s face, and the moment we had had earlier came flooding back to me. I moaned and tried to distract myself from the erotic memory in my thoughts, but it was futile. As he plunged himself within me, I was plagued by the intensity of his look, and before I realised it, my hand had slipped lower to touch myself.
“No, I must not do this,” I said to myself and withdrew my hand from touching the most intimate part of my body. However, I was unable to distract my focus, and I was unable to sleep. Finally, I got up and decided to clean my room. I needed something to distract my mind. First, I changed the drapes, and the bed cover followed. I also reorganised my closet and discarded the clothes that were seldom used.
In a few hours, I was done, but I still missed him so much. I could see him intently watching over me whenever I looked around and wished I didn’t hurt his feelings and pride. I tried to stop him from quitting his job, but the man was adamant and announced he could no longer work with someone like me.
I expressed a deep sigh of regret and longing before I went to the window and opened the drapes to let the cold and fresh air came in. For a moment, I stood by the window while looking outside and hoping that Lee would come back. Another sigh escaped from my lips as I returned to my bed and forced myself to sleep.
Time flowed slowly for a person with a heavy heart, and in the morning, I almost failed to recognise myself in the mirror. Dark bags under the eyes, puffy eyes, and a melancholy expression! Before meeting him, I wasn’t clingy, but Lee changed all of that. He made me feel so vulnerable, and my heart ached for his presence. To lessen the heaviness of my heart, I sauntered towards the bathroom to freshen up. Then, I had a quick, cold shower and changed into something more comfortable at homes, such as cotton shorts and a basic white t-shirt. I pulled my damp hair back into a ponytail and went into the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee.
I walked towards the door with a cup in my hand, intending to have my coffee on the balcony. The morning wind on the balcony was refreshing, and the open layout allowed me to clear my mind.
“Oh, my God!” When I noticed a man outside the main door, I almost dropped my coffee, and a line emerged in the centre of my brows when he turned around. “Why are you here?”
A gorgeous set of white teeth glistened in the morning sunlight as he grinned. “Good morning, sweetheart,” he responded as if we had not argued the last night.
“Are you kidding me?” Whoa, what a knucklehead! “You quit as my bodyguard, remember?” When he just stared at me, I reminded him of our conversation last night.
“I know you still want me,” he claimed.
I couldn’t refute that he expressed a fact, but it would be a shame to accept it immediately, so I arched my brows in response. “Where it’s true or not, it doesn’t matter. You are not welcome here,” I told him. “And what makes you believe I’m still interested in you?”
“Your eyes say it all, and you want me… right now,” Lee remarked, his voice husky, sending thrills down my spine.
“Of course not!” I refuted his assumptions, but he just responded with a raised eyebrow.
Lee drew up to me, leaning in close and whispering. “Don’t be obstinate and say it. I’ll make you scream with delight just by saying the words Selena… right now.”
Before I could stop him, he picked me up and carried me back inside the house. I was worried that someone would see us, and luckily, we didn’t meet anyone on our way up. As soon we reached our destination, Lee kicked the door open and closed it immediately before he conquered my mouth. I summoned all of my might and pushed him away from me as he moved his lips to deepen the kiss.
My chest heaved up and down as I muttered, “Wait…” after shoving him away. “I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be able to accomplish it… That is to say, not yet.”
“Why not?” When Lee inquired, his voice was gruff, which only increased my desire for him.
I told him the truth clumsily, “I… I haven’t cleaned my teeth yet,” and Lee’s eyes twinkled with delight.
“Ah, that’s what I’m talking about. I was aware of the stench but chose to ignore it.” Lee joked, but I was offended by his solemn attitude. When I pushed him away and headed to the bathroom, he yelled out, “Hey, I’m just kidding!”
I said, “I know,” before taking a long breath and letting out a sigh of relief. I promised myself last night that I would forget about him, but my heart rejoiced when he showed up at the door earlier. When it came to Lee, I had to accept that I was happier whenever he was around. It didn’t seem like I was upset at him for even a second when he kissed me! In other words, I squandered all of my tears for nothing!
“Let’s talk, baby,” he said when I emerged from the bathroom.
As he sat across from me, all I could do was sigh and stare at him. “So, why are you here?” When I asked him, he was initially taken aback. “You quit, remember?”
“I am not here as your bodyguard,” he replied.
I snapped my brows together and lifted the tip while looking back at him in response to his statement. “What do you mean?”
“My real name is Liam,” he stated, and for a moment, I stared at him. We have been together for several months, yet I didn’t bother to ask for his full name. When he informed me that his name was Lee, I took it at face value and never bothered anything else.
“So, hi Liam,” I jested, and he frowned immediately. Oh well, I preferred calling him Lee rather than Liam because it felt different to pronounce, and it seemed Liam was another person from Lee.
“I’m sorry for lying all this time,” he started.
I wasn’t sure if I heard him correctly, but I didn’t understand the words coming out of his mouth. “It’s alright. Whether you are Lee or Liam, it doesn’t matter. You look the same to me,” I replied.
Liam cleared the lumps on his throat before he spoke again. The intensity of his gaze made me uncomfortable in my seat, and I noticed that he looked a little different from last night. He seemed so serious compared to the man I argued with the previous night. “I am your fiancé,” he announced.
“Now, you’re kidding,” I said, but when I stared at him, and he didn’t smile, I furrowed my brows in confusion. “What are you talking about, Lee?”
“My name is Liam Salcedo,” he announced.
