CHAPTER 63

Samer took my cellphone and immediately called Kate. I was surprised when his voice raised, as if he was scolding the woman. I approached him and snatched the phone, then turned it off.
“That’s not right,” I told him.
“What’s wrong with what I did? I don’t want her to bother you anymore, Jamie,” he explained.
“Even so! Kate might think I don’t have a voice of my own to reprimand her,” I replied. “Set up a meeting; we need to sort this out because the kids will be affected.” I suggested to him, but he suddenly hugged me. I struggled, but when I felt the slight movement of his shoulders, I stopped immediately.
“I don’t know what my life and my children’s life will be like without you by our side,” Sam said in a trembling voice. “I need you, we need you. So please, come back to me.”
“That’s so unfair! Why do you have to use the kids? I could come back to you, but I feel sorry for my colorful heart,” I told him. “I spent years rebuilding it, and you’re the one breaking it again. I don’t think I can handle it again.”
“You told me last night that you’d give me a second chance if I do everything you ask,” he reminded me of our conversation.
“I think my decision last night was wrong. I realize now that my life won’t be peaceful if I’m with you,” I expressed my true feelings. I had been keeping this under my chest for days, and it’s time for him to know that we would both be hurt if we insist on our love.
“I can give you everything, Jamie, and I’m willing to do whatever you want,” he said, trying to convince me to change my mind.
“I don’t need the things you can give; I have my own money. What I need is loyalty, Sam,” I told him, and when he lowered his gaze, I smiled slightly. It was a bitter smile because I knew within myself that it was really over.
“I can do that,” he said.
My eyebrow raised because it was hard to believe what he said. Luckily, we weren’t married yet when he got tempted by Kate again.
“Really? You won’t be tempted by other women? I don’t want a third party, Sam.”
“You’re the only one in my heart, Jamie,” he said.
“Just in your heart? I want you to be mine completely, heart, mind, and body,” I told him what I wanted to clarify things between us. I didn’t want any ambiguity. I’m not young anymore to compromise on vague matters.
“I’m only yours, Jamie, and you’re only mine,” Samer replied.
“Okay,” I said.
“Are we okay now?” he asked.
“The thirty-day ultimatum I gave you last night is still effective,” I reminded him, and his face turned sullen. “Are you disappointed?”
“Not really. In fact, I’m working on the first task on your list,” Samer replied.
“That’s good because this is your last chance,” I told him.
“No more promises,” Samer replied.
“Okay, let’s eat so your delivered food won’t go to waste,” I suggested, and he immediately followed.
“I don’t want this to happen again, Sam,” I warned him as we ate.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“Having food delivered here,” I said because I didn’t want to have any issues at the office.
“What will we eat then?” Samer got concerned.
“Whatever’s in the pantry,” I answered and almost laughed at his reaction. He’s too dramatic! As if the food in my pantry wasn’t edible!
“It’s unhealthy!” Samer complained.
“Oh come on, it’s just for a month,” I said to him. “Alright, let’s eat the food you bought,” I said.
After we finished eating, I said goodbye to him. I needed to be alone because my mind was in turmoil. When I entered my room, I weighed our situation with Samer.
What do I really want to happen?
I want us to be okay, but I can’t just let him hurt me again. I don’t want to let my colorful heart be broken again… never again!
After taking a shower, I chose a comfortable tank top and added a pink pullover hoodie on top. Just for fun, I wanted to be a bit girly in front of Samer. Since he was already at the house, I might as well make the most of the chance to act cute.
As I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I repeatedly asked myself if giving him a second chance was the right thing to do. My mind was still confused. After all, Samer’s offense wasn’t easy to forgive. He got back together with his ex, Kate. However, wasn’t it the same thing I did? I almost gave in to Brent too.
I found Samer in the living room, watching an NBA game. I subtly sat beside him and rested one of my hands on his thigh. Just because. I wanted to see if I was ready to be physical with him after what happened.
“Can I hug you, even just for a moment?” I asked him first because I didn’t want to be impolite by just hugging him when our relationship was still uncertain. But to be fair to Samer, in all the time we’ve been together, I wanted our relationship to work again.
“Okay,” he said to me.
I smiled slightly at Samer, and without wasting time, I hugged him tightly. “I missed you, Sam,” I confessed, and then I tightened my grip on him. I sighed when I let go of him. But suddenly, he held me and kissed me on the lips.
Just one kiss. Briefly. Like a gentle touch, but I could feel his longing for me. Then he hugged me tightly.
“Will you get angry if I do this?” he asked me before he put his hand inside my shorts.
“You even asked when you didn’t give me a chance to respond,” I told him.
“Then I’ll return the favor,” he replied.
When he said I should just get revenge, my weakness was challenged. When it comes to Samer, my resolve is too weak. He suddenly appeared at home and made some effort, and my heart leaped with joy. Only my pride held me back from accepting him with my whole heart.
“You said it,” I said and immediately put my hand inside his shorts. Wow, it’s hard! I was startled and almost burned by the heat of his hardness. As my hand held his manhood, my confidence in my own sex appeal suddenly returned.
When he got involved with Kate, I thought he lost interest in me. I expected that I became boring in bed, so he sought pleasure with someone else. His infidelity had a big impact, especially in our sexual aspect. For the same reason, I tried to seduce Brent back then to prove to myself that I wasn’t worthless.
Times have changed since then. It used to be fine for two people in love to have no one else in between, but that’s not acceptable anymore. Or if there are couples who patiently wait for marriage before being intimate, they are rare.
“You can still back out,” he warned me while his hand was on my breast, squeezing it.
I moaned as I felt his touch, eager and excited. Perhaps my body was already accustomed to him, so it quickly responded to his caresses.
“Why would I do that?” I asked him and voluntarily took off my lower garment. Samer wanted me to take off everything, but I had other plans. I’ve decided it’s time to stop hiding. “Just once,” I reminded him, and he nodded. Then I hugged him tightly, who I haven’t been intimate with for a long time, and kissed his neck.
Salty.
But I liked it.
“I haven’t showered after the workout,” he said when he felt my tongue on his skin.
“Touch me,” I requested, and he obliged. His hands freely explored my body, caressing my chest and going down to my abdomen. I gasped as I waited for him to reach the part where I needed him.
I groaned slightly when I felt his finger enter me. It was uncomfortable but manageable with my powers. He laid me on the sofa and knelt in front of me. After parting my thighs, I immediately felt his warm tongue on my womanhood.
Because of what he did, I completely forgot and succumbed to temptation. All I wanted was to entice and tease him, but unfortunately, I was the one tempted and gave in.
“Even though something happened between us, the thirty days rule is still in effect!” I told him as I adjusted myself after our intimate moment.
“I don’t understand you,” he complained.
“Then don’t understand me; it is what it is,” I said to him.
“Do you have plans?” Samer asked.
“We have plans,” I replied, but I didn’t tell him that Kate texted me and wanted to talk properly. Kate wanted just the two of us to meet, but I didn’t inform her that I’ll bring Samer along.
“Where?” he asked.
“Somewhere. Come on, get dressed so we can leave quickly,” I said to him.
“Don’t you want to join me in the shower?” The man suggested that we repeat what happened earlier in the shower, but I didn’t have time for that. I made an appointment with Kate at ten in the morning since it was her only free time. I didn’t want to talk to her, but I couldn’t always avoid it.
It’s time to face the people who might hinder my happiness. As long as Samer’s love for me remains, as he said, I won’t let him go! I’m determined to fight for what’s rightfully mine, and the man in the bathroom is mine alone!
I opened my cellphone and removed Brent’s name from the blacklist. I realized my actions were childish. I sighed heavily as I recalled what I had Kevin do. What happened to me, and why did I become so selfish?
Yes, Brent hurt me once. I should be very angry with him, but I can’t do it. While waiting for Samer, I sent a message to Brent. I don’t know if he’ll read it or not, but I thought it was right to ask for forgiveness.
There’s no other way for us to let go of each other than to forgive. If I hold on to my anger, he’ll live in my heart forever, and I don’t want that. I want that when both Samer and I are ready, he’ll be the only man in my heart, and no one else.
“Let’s go,” Samer said when he returned to the living room.
“Sit down first; I have something to tell you,” I asked him to sit beside me, and he immediately turned pale. Maybe he thought I was going to act up again.
“Did I do something wrong to you?” he asked.
I cleared my throat before speaking because I didn’t know where to start without him getting mad at me. Samer probably thought I didn’t care if he left me, but the truth is, I’m afraid of losing him. “I had Kevin do something to get back at Brent,” I said.
Every time I mention my ex’s name, his forehead wrinkles. His judgment is biased, but we’re the same because I have the same reaction when Kate’s name comes up.
“Like what?”
“I told Kevin to poison Brent’s chickens in Stonewick,” I said. I held my breath as I waited for his reaction, but it took him so long! “Don’t you have anything to say to me?” I asked him, and when he opened his mouth, I thought he’d scold me, but he suddenly burst into laughter.
“Did you do that?” Samer doubted if I just made up the story to entertain him.
“What’s so funny about what I said? Here I am, worried about how to bring back the dead chickens, and you’re just laughing at me?” I didn’t like his reaction.
“What’s difficult about it? You just have Kevin buy some new chickens, how many did he kill?” Samer asked.
“I’m not sure how many, but Brent’s farm is big,” I said.
“Wait, how did you know his farm is big? Did you go there?” Samer asked.
“Yes, when we were in Stonewick, and you brought Kate there,” I answered properly, but he suddenly got jealous. “Do you doubt that nothing happened between me and Brent?” I asked him.
“Nothing really happened?” He retaliated with a question, and I was slightly hurt by his doubt.
“I already told you before,” I said, but it felt heavy that he still didn’t believe me. “If you don’t want to believe me, then don’t!”
“Jamie, come on!” His voice raised. “It’s normal for me to doubt because you were gone for days,” Samer explained why there’s still doubt in his heart.
“I told you it’s difficult to go back to the past,” I said to him and left the house. He called my name repeatedly, but I didn’t look back.
