“I’m sorry, but I just followed your advice to play hard to get with Kate,” Samer whispered to me. But what does that have to do with him kissing me?
“So, do you have to kiss me for that? Answer me! My goodness, how will I face the employees on Monday?”
Samer caused a huge scene, and I was sure people would be talking about us come Monday. Goodness gracious, I borrowed Rhea’s expression.
“Did you notice the woman in the red summer dress?” Instead of apologizing, he asked me about the woman who was a few meters away from us.
Of course, I nodded because I had been noticing that woman who kept glancing at me. If looks could kill, I would have been lying lifeless in the lobby of Khalifa.
“Now, you know her!” What the man said registered in my mind a long time ago.
Wait, was that woman Kate? Oh no!
“She’s beautiful. No wonder you’re head over heels for her.”
Now I understood why Samer was infatuated with Kate. Even just her dimples could make men go crazy. Samer’s ladylove was just insanely beautiful! And how I wished to have her incredible girl-next-door look… as well as her dimples on both cheeks!
“Hmm, something like that,” he said nonchalantly, casually placing his hand on my waist. “So, how’s the trip to your hometown?” He asked as we headed to the sitting area furnished with Kenneth Cobonpue’s bloom chairs.
“I met him this morning,” I unconsciously revealed to Samer about my encounter with Brent earlier.
“And?”
“I don’t understand myself! All these years, I hated him. But when we met earlier, I can’t explain how I felt.” I was truly puzzled by my own feelings.
“Just as you said, let’s give love one last chance. You keep advising me, but you can’t even fix your own love life!” Samer scolded me, but I didn’t know whether to be pleased or to smack him left and right for his words.
“Second chance with the same person? It’s terrifying,” I replied because it hurt when he left me, and now he wanted another chance to hurt me.
“As long as the result is still not okay, will you spend the rest of your life with me and the kids?” His last question caught me off-guard. Living with Khaleel and Ameera was more than tempting for me to accept his offer. But… what about my heart? Would I forever accept that I’m just unlucky in love?
“I think I can manage to live with you and the kids,” I replied wholeheartedly.
“Then, we have a deal?”
“Deal!”
“Alright, can I kiss you again? I think Kate is affected. Look at her.”
I subtly glanced at the woman who was still standing where she was earlier. She looked like a statue fixed in that spot.
“She seems affected indeed. But if you’re going to kiss me, do it properly! Besides, I haven’t even processed everything-” I couldn’t continue what I was about to say because he kissed me on the lips.
He’s a good kisser, but I knew someone who could do better. I closed my eyes, and it was Brent that I saw kissing me. I gasped when I felt his hand on my chest. I was surprised by his action.
I felt like there was some malice in what was happening between us. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this! But before I could push him away, Samer fell to the ground. Some guests gasped as an Arab man collapsed on the cold floor.
“Brent, stop it!” I shouted when I saw Brent straddling Samer and punching him.
We almost reached the two men at the same time with Kate. I pulled Brent away to stop him from beating up Samer, while Kate also assisted Samer to help him stand up. When I faced Brent, I slapped him hard for causing a scene with my boss.
“Leave!”
“Jamie…”
“Don’t you dare ‘Jamie’ me right now! You have no right to come here and cause trouble!” I scolded Brent and took a step away from him to approach Samer, but he stopped me from leaving.
“As long as we don’t have closure, I’m still your boyfriend!” He said.
What? I momentarily forgot that Samer had been beaten by Brent. How dare he bring up closure? Didn’t he leave me?
“Aren’t you bothered by what you’re saying now?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
Looking in the direction of Samer, he was no longer there. Where did Kate take him?
“Are you looking for that cripple?” Brent noticed that my eyes were searching for Samer, and he got angry again.
“Samer is not a cripple!” I defended the honor of my boss, which was now slightly tarnished due to the scandal caused by his fall.
Samer was taller than Brent because of his Arab descent. If we were to look at their physical appearances, Samer looked stronger, but a single punch from Brent was enough to knock him down.
“Ah, that’s why he couldn’t even get back at me once,” he even boasted about beating up Samer! He’s so arrogant!
“Seriously, stop comparing yourself to Samer because there’s a huge difference between the two of you! Listen, no matter what you do, you still can’t compare to him. Do you understand me?”
He got on my nerves, so I was furious and wanted to slap him.
“I see,” he said in a soft voice, seeming to understand what I meant.
“Now, you see.” I glared at him.
I left Brent in the lobby and headed to the elevator exclusively for Khalifa VIPs. I pressed the 12th floor button and quickly made my way to Samer’s suite room. I turned the doorknob, but the door was locked.
Then I remembered that Samer gave me an access card yesterday for their suite room. I opened my bag and took out the card. As the door to the two-bedroom suite opened, I entered right away. I went straight to the room Samer occupied and knocked softly. When he told me to come in, I immediately opened the door.
“Samer!”
