Even he, too, was shocked from what happened seeing how his eyes widened.
I immediately got off from him then I gasped because we came from the second floor and landed on the ground floor. I approached him and helped him to sit up as he was groaning.
“A-Are you alright, Your Majesty?” I asked, panicking.
My heart leaped as his eyes darted on me.
“Y-Yes.” He nodded. “How about you?” he asked and scrutinized me up and down.
“I-I am alright. Thanks to His Majesty,” I said, feeling guilty.
We looked at each other. I suddenly felt nostalgic with the way he was looking at me. I felt like I was throwback to the times when he was still my supervisor with mischievous expression on his face. Why do I feel like I am missing those times? And he managed to steal a kiss from me again!
Claude cleared his throat, looking away. “Next time, don’t try jumping like that. You could have hurt me for trying to save you. Good thing I don’t easily get to have bruises.” He snorted.
I looked at him in disbelief. “What?” What the hell is wrong with this man? “It is your fault for trying to stop me and you are accusing me for being my fault in the first place?” I couldn’t believe with him. This man…
I flinched when I saw Sir Felix and Jack jumped from the second floor. Then they ran to us.
“Your Majesty, are you alright? Shall I call the doctor?”
“General Rachelle, are you alright?”
Felix approached him and helped him to stand up. “I’m alright, Felix. No need to call the doctor.”
“I’m fine, Jack.” Jack also helped me to stand up as well. Claude and I looked away after having a short discourse.
“Let’s go.” We looked at each other when we both said it in unison.
“Are you trying to copy me, General Rachelle?”
“Shouldn’t I ask you the same thing, Your Majesty?”
We were sending glares to each other. On my peripheral vision, Felix and Jack looked at each other.
“So, you are accusing me?”
“You are accusing me as well?”
We faced each other and stared on each other’s eyes as no one backed down to whoever looks away would consider a loser one. I am not going to back down! After he just accused me for copying him, I could tell the same thing that he was copying me, too!
“You dare to disrespect your Alpha King?” He raised his voice.
I snorted. “Did I even disrespect you in the first place, Your Majesty?” The audacity of this royalty.
“Your Majesty, Your Majesty…” Sir Felix butt in. “You still have things to do for the state of affairs, right?”
Alpha King Claudian slit his eyes on me before he turned at Sir Felix. “Very well. You are right. I wouldn’t want to spend my time here with a reckless General.”
I shot him a glare. “What did you just say?” I was about to lunge at him when Jack stopped me. “What?” I snapped at him.
“General, didn’t you want to stroll around later?” He was smiling wryly. “You said that you are going to make rounds.”
I thought about it. Did I even say that earlier? Hesitant, I nodded my head. “Okay. I’ll make my rounds instead talking to the weirdo royalty here.” I spared Claude a quick glance. “Oh.” I faked a gasp. “Your Majesty, you are still here.”
“General!” Jack tugged my arm. His eyes were already widening from my statement earlier.
Claude slowly formed a smirk. “I’ll pretend I didn’t hear your remarks against me, Rachelle.” I shivered when he called me on my first name with no addressing me on my rank. He turned his back. “Let’s go, Felix.”
I stuck my tongue out when he turned his back and walked away with Sir Felix.
‘Our mate looks so cute.’
“Shut up!” I exclaimed and stopped because I just voice it out while Jack was around. He gave me a look. “My wolf is annoying me.” I rolled my eyes after that.
Jack shrugged. “It’s pretty normal, General.” Then he placed his hands on his waist. “Let’s get back to work, General.” I frowned and sighed, nodding at him.
“You’re so cruel to me.” This man as well is annoying.
Tomorrow came. I managed to finish the paperworks because Jack made me finish it by spending overtime to work. Even though I’d been complaining, he wouldn’t let me go.
Since today was my day off. I would go to the capital later to take some leisure off. I decided to wear some comfortable long, tightly fitting dress which was closed to the peasant clothing. All of my days in the military and in the palace, it was either I would wear military uniform or combat suit. Only in my few day offs, I would wear a dress then pretend a peasant whenever I decided to go to the capital or in the town.
I opened the door when someone knocked on my door. It was Avedon Pillar, courtier of the Grand Alpha King came to meet me with a little surprise on his eyes. Perhaps, he was surprised with my clothing.
“Greetings, General Rachelle.”
I nodded my head. “To what do I owe the pleasure?” I asked politely.
“Grand Alpha King has summoned you, General,” he said politely.
I knitted my forehead. Why would he summon me though? I checked my pocketwatch. It was still 9 AM. I should go to the capital later before lunch. I just hope the Grand Alpha King could manage to finish this summon in an instant because I want to enjoy my day off right now.
“Lead me to him.”
Avedon nodded. I followed him as we made some turns before we managed to arrive to the third floor of the palace where they were residing at the balcony. I immediately spotted Grand Alpha King and… I sniffed his familiar scent from afar. It was him again. Alpha King was also with his father in the bistro chair and table having a cup of tea.
I met his eyes with surprise expression which made my wolf glad. She wanted to go to Claude because of how alluring his scent was. I castigated her because my wolf wasn’t like this beforehand. She would go crazy every time I would set my eyes on him.
I averted my gaze and looked at the Grand Alpha King with an admiration, soft gaze on him. The gentle fatherly gaze was making me calm down.
“Greetings, Alpha King, Grand Alpha King.” I bowed my head before them. Then I looked at the Grand Alpha King. “You have summoned me, Your Majesty?”
He nodded with a smile. Then he turned at Avedon. “Thank you for bringing Rachelle here, Avedon.” Avedon nodded his head and settled himself to the very far, awaiting for his master’s orders. “You looked beguiling in your dress, kid. It is my first time seeing you after so many years-”
I cut him off. “You have seen me once, old man.” I snorted which earned him a hearty laugh.
“Old man?” It was Claude with a serious expression. “Did you just disrespect my Father, General Rachelle?”
I was about to open my mouth when the Grand Alpha King spoke. “This is how Rachelle and I make a converse, Claude. Stop gnawing there and offer a chair for the lady!” I was surprised when he ordered Claude like a child.
He frowned and shot me a glare. That kind of gaze was making me annoyed. Why was he giving me with that kind of look? Did he want me to poke his eyes out? I huffed mentally.
