I am quite disappointed right now that Fleet Admiral Francisco wouldn’t let me assign near at the antechamber. This could have been my chance to see the whole family of the Grand Alpha King. They were tightening the securities right now and only a few were allowed to guard near the antechamber right now.
One of the reasons that I couldn’t guard the antechamber because I was from the special rank already. I was one of those people who would serve as night watchers. I was guarding the lake near the borders in case rogues would dare to step their filthy paws near the borders of the Waevalon Kingdom.
I stood up and leaned my hand on the tree while I was at one of the strong branch of a tree, wordlessly gazing at the reflection of the moon in awe. I was alone here where I chased Claude. My eyes cemented to the direction as to where Claude disappeared to. The direction he went to was where rogues usually appeared themselves to attack Waevalon Kingdom.
And that was the direction for the depths of the forest named Downcast Woods. It was very dangerous to go there for those werewolves who are not familiar with the place.
Soundlessly, I abandoned the tree where I was and decided to go to that direction. I lifted up my hand above me and gripped my hand, signaling to other comrades I was with who was near to my post. It was Colette and Benedict who I was signaling at.
They already knew that I always wandered off alone if I want to monitor or observe something.
Ready? I asked my wolf while running.
I heard her howling of approval as I shifted to my wolf form the moment I measured how far away I was from the greater distance which a werewolf cannot focus an eyesight for. My wolf was leaping in happiness. I, too, am happy as well because I could finally be in my wolf form. It was a very carefree feeling. Like the same happiness I felt wayback when I was at Storm’s pack, I was also feeling the same as I was evaded the trees that I was passing by.
When I made sure I was too far already from the borderlines of our kingdom, I shifted back to my human form after I managed to clamp my claws to the body of the tree named yellow meranti which height is 331 ft. I held on its body while my eyes were on the beautiful moon. The moon goddess was blessing us with her moonlight. It was a warmth feeling.
After I held on a high regard for the moon, I decided to hop from the other trees. I became alert whilst leaping around the trees as I heard a faint whoosh like someone was also leaping but on opposite direction. I decided to halt from leaping and nested on the tree I was at. I stayed silent and closed my eyes to listen and be attentive to my surroundings. The sound also stopped. I turned my head to see if I could still spot the palace.
“Shit…” I had gone too far now. I could only see the roofing of the palace. I just grinned. Probably I would be scolded by one of the Lieutenant Commanders or the Generals. Just by thinking about it made me want to laugh.
I decided to jump from the high height and changed back to my wolf form. I shook my body before started sprinting back to the borderlines.
I went back to my post and stayed there before the sun rises.
“Hey, Commander Rachelle!”
Upon seeing Thalia, the daughter of a noble family, whose noble family was known for training strictly and severely. Her uncle was General Jose so I got it where she came from.
I hang on the strong branch of a tree before looking down at Thalia. “Yes, Lady Thalia? Is something the matter?” I asked before deciding to get down, feeling sleepy for a moment.
“Meeting at 3 PM sharp,” she said and tapped my back. “And by the way, enough of formalities.” She rolled her eyes and frowned.
I just grinned and shook my head in amusement then shrugged. “Sure.” I shrugged my shoulders and left her in my post. “Not.” I heard Thalia’s hiss as I was on my way back to the training grounds. I have to set some lapses for my soldiers before I will retire on my bed.
I stopped myself from yawning and waved my hand to Commander Connor when he passed by at me. After I made sure that my soldiers managed to finish their lapses, I returned back to my quarters and made sure I took off my battle suit then changed to sleeping attire before I retired in my bed at 6 AM.
I woke up at 1 PM. I finished my routine before going back to the office. I even grabbed my brunch to the cafeteria.
Walter approached me and gave me some paperwork to do. I shot him a glare. “If those are your unfinished works, get those papers out of my sight, Walter.”
He grinned and raised both of his hands. “Nope, that is your work. I swear.” He grabbed a seat, facing the back of the chair on me as he sat down like some sort of barbarian.
I checked the papers and read them. Then I started the work. “So? What are you still doing here then? Shouldn’t you suppose to train my soldiers?” I arched my eyebrow at him.
Walter grinned. “Done it, boss. Some of your soldiers are quite stubborn without your presence.”
I creased my forehead as my blood boiled upon hearing that news. “Really? Looks like they want to be punished tomorrow.” My tone has dyed how infuriated I was again.
But Walter just chuckled and stood up. He tapped my back. “Calm down, Commander Rachelle. They are all behave actually.” I growled at him, looking at him menacingly. He smiled wryly at my reaction as he raised both of his hands, surrendering. “Hold your wolf, Commander! Your wolf is overwhelming you!”
I closed my eyes and fluttered it open as I grinned at him. “Tomorrow is the rounds of your soldiers to me. We’ll see tomorrow.” I arched my eyebrow at him.
Walter looked at me, horrified. Then he huffed. “Cruel.” He stepped back and started to leave.
I just rolled my eyes and focused my eyes on the paperworks I need to finish before 3 PM. We still have a meeting later. I wonder what it was all about. I sighed.
Finishing my tasks before 3 PM was done. I went to the dungeon after changing to my combat suit. I arrived there and sat beside with Colette.
“Do you know what is happening?” I asked the moment I settled down myself.
Colette shrugged and shook his head. “They just said that they are going to announce something.”
“Probably the Alpha King agrees the grandiose homecoming.”
“Really?” I turned at Benedict who just arrived. I heard Colette’s huffing when she knew his presence.
Benedict shrugged. “Who knows?”
I squinted my eyes on him with his stupid answer. “Looking so smart but not really good.” I rolled my eyes. It was obvious that he knew what is happening but he chose to divert it in another way.
“Wait, Rachelle. I’m serious. I do not know what is happening actually.”
I huffed. “Shut up, boy. You are not actually helping. Why don’t you help my dearest Colette?” I grinned.
“Commander…” She frowned at me. She looked at Benedict then rolled her eyes.
Benedict sighed and sat beside her. But Colette transferred to a seat which she made me switched places with her. I didn’t know what is happening between them but I just let and I used myself as a barrier between them.
Sir Abraham and Karen arrived in their military uniform. They also brought along a Knight which made us surprise. But I smelled a faint familiar scent when they all entered which made froze and became alert in my surroundings.
He’s here, my wolf whispered excitedly but I just ignored what she had said.
But I looked at Benedict, surprised as well to see a Knight, wearing a silver heavy armor and helmet. Knights are personal bodyguards of Alpha King and Grand Alpha King.
“What is happening?” I heard Colette murmured.
The whispers were getting louder which Sir Abraham summoned his hand to stop us from murmuring. But I am confused why they brought along with a Knight. As well as the faint smell of mint and after rain. Could this be a serious matter? Did something happen with the royal family? Is the Grand Alpha King alright?
Sir Abraham cleared his throat. “I would like to announce a new member in our organization, everyone. The Alpha King himself appointed him to join and will be the overseer for our watchdogs in patrolling at night. Also, he is my nephew and is newly appointed as the Knight for the Grand Alpha King.” The Knight stepped forward when Sir Abraham motioned his hand to step forward. “Please introduce yourself.”
With anticipation, we waited for the mysterious Knight to remove his armor helmet. He slowly removed it and looked at us.
I sucked my breath upon meeting the dark hazel eyes that haunted me in my sleep. My wolf howled inside me as she was jumping in joy. Those piercing eyes that made me want to hide from my seat right now. His strong jaw which made me want to run my hands on.
His gaze slowly soared to meet mine. Then his lips upturned to form a smile at everyone-no, the smile was meant for me. I am very sure with that.
“I am Claude Hackworth, the supervisor of night watchdogs.”
What the hell is Claude doing here?! How on earth did he get here?!
