Shen Qieyi’s chaotic mind suddenly cleared up, and she held her coat and looked at the driver in surprise.
Before the driver got to wake her up, their eyes already met.
The young man coughed lightly and felt uneasy. He waved his hand repeatedly. “Don’t get me wrong. I just thought that you were cold. Coincidentally, the air conditioner in the car is broken. I…”
Shen Qieyi looked at him, and her gloomy face finally showed a smile. “Thank you very much. This was a great car riding experience.”
The driver thought that she misunderstood his intentions, but she thanked him sincerely. He was a little embarrassed and his ears turned red.
There was a sudden silence in the narrow space. The driver looked up at her and was stunned when he saw her crying. She seemed very fragile.
“You… I…”
Shen Qieyi cried and laughed. She put the money in his hand and didn’t want to say anything more. She got off the car and left.
She felt like she was so weak that she shed tears for a stranger’s good deed.
She couldn’t remember when was the last time she was treated with tenderness.
Walking on the road, Shen Qieyi pulled her coat against the chill and wiped her tears silently.
Walking into the office, Shen Qieyi reminded herself to focus and lift her spirits, which was the basic quality for doctors.
Sitting at her desk and looking carefully at the patient’s case notes, she frowned more and more tightly.
Shen Qieyi hurriedly called the nurse. “Where is this patient?”
The nurse saw her serious expression and realized that something was wrong. She said while trembling, “He has been pushed into the anesthesia room. Dr. Shen, is there something wrong…”
“There’s a very serious problem that was neglected. We can’t do this operation. Go upstairs now and explain the situation.” Shen Qieyi briefly explained and calmly made arrangements.
She quickly took out her cell phone and dialed. After a long wait, the person on the other side finally picked up.
Mo Yirou’s face was full of impatience. She held her temper back and said, “Hello? What’s wrong?”
“Come to the hospital right now.” Shen Qieyi interrupted her directly.
“What do you mean? You don’t even want to help me once?” Mo Yirou complained somewhat angrily. Shen Qieyi usually agreed to whatever she wanted.
Knowing that she could not force her too much, Mo Yirou took a deep breath and continued, “Dear, this is just a minor operation for you. Please help me.”
“Where are you now?” Although Mo Yirou was a gentle person, she never slacked at work. This time, she pushed away her responsibility, and Shen Qieyi couldn’t help but ask.
“I knocked someone’s car on my way to the hospital. I’m now settling the issue,” Mo Yirou said pitifully, making sure that she sounded as if she was going to cry.
Shen Qieyi was surprised and worried. “Are you all right now?”
“I’m fine, thank you, my dear.” Upon calling her dear, Mo Yirou’s felt happy. She knew that Shen Qieyi’s heart had softened.
She wouldn’t say that the owner of the car she ran into was actually Fu Yao.
Mo Yirou panicked. Looking at the scratch left on the precious car, her legs went weak.
She couldn’t afford to pay for it.
Fu Yao got out of the car to check on the situation. He looked at the pale-faced woman in front of him and asked, “Are you alright? Do you need any help?”
Mo Yirou looked at this refined and handsome man in front of her, feeling both attracted and afraid. “No… I don’t need… I’m really sorry…”
Fu Yao shrugged and did not intend to make things difficult for her.
Seeing that he was about to turn around and leave, Mo Yirou hurriedly pulled his collar. “Don’t go!”
She was full of jealousy and resentment towards Shen Qieyi.
Why did the fat and ugly woman have such a perfect Fu Yao? She was much better than Shen Qieyi.
It was such a waste for Shen Qieyi to have this man. Mo Yirou had to take him away from her.
And in the face of such a stupid opponent like Shen Qieyi, Mo Yirou was very confident.
“The patient himself has a very serious underlying condition. This operation can’t be performed at all.”
Suddenly, Shen Qieyi’s serious tone interrupted Mo Yirou’s drifting thoughts.
She did not have time to put away the hatred in her heart. Mo Yirou blurted out, “He’s my patient. I know him. There’s no problem with the surgery.”
“If the surgery is done, he may lose his sexual ability for the rest of his life. Can you take the responsibility?” Shen Qieyi said when she realized that Mo Yirou wasn’t taking it seriously. She sneered as she analyzed the worst scenario to her. Then, she hung up the phone.
Mo Yirou was once again left hanging on the phone. She stomped her feet in anger. “Stupid and arrogant woman! She hung up on me again!”
Seeing the dark screen, the corner of Mo Yirou’s mouth strangely rose as she softly muttered, “I want you to get in trouble this time.”
At the same time, the nurse she sent appeared at the door in a panic, out of breath. “Dr…. Dr. Shen, bad news. The patient’s family is making trouble. Please go up and have a look.”
Shen Qieyi frowned and realized that it was another unreasonable riot.
The new nurse must have been scared out of her wits. Her face was pale and she was trembling all over.
Shen Qieyi patted her on the shoulder to comfort her before she left. “Don’t be afraid. Call the security guards. Be quick.”
The nurse nodded with red eyes and immediately ran away.
Shen Qieyi arrived at the operating room as fast as she could.
The scene was uncontrollable, and the security guards were there yet. The patient’s family kicked off the wooden chairs in the corridor, and the frames on the wall were taken off and smashed to pieces, and the floor was full of broken glass.
Nurses on duty cowered in fear and froze on the spot, not daring to make a sound at all.
Shen Qieyi squeezed out of the crowd and bravely walked toward the middle of the crowd. She did not know what was waiting for her.
Shen Qieyi stepped on the glass slag and stood in front of the patient’s family members. She put her hands in her pockets and looked coldly at these people cursing vulgarly.
Seeing her stance, everyone became quiet for a while.
The patient who got localized anesthesia was sitting in a wheelchair. Seeing Shen Qieyi, he asked someone to push him in front of her.
“You are my attending doctor?” Although the patient was sitting and was shorter than the others, he still looked intimidating.
Shen Qieyi looked straight into his eyes as Mo Yirou’s words flashed through her mind.
Now that Mo Yirou had a car accident, Shen Qieyi was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to take it if she were to be involved in a medical conflict.
Shen Qieyi sighed and nodded slowly. “Yes, it’s me.”
“Motherf*cker, you put me on anesthesia and got me into the operation room. Now, you’re simply calling a stop to the surgery? If anything happens to me, will you be responsible for it?”
The patient shouted and cursed. Behind him, a group of people rushed up and surrounded Shen Qieyi.
Shen Qieyi swept her eyes over the ferocious group of people, and her hands in her pocket clenched tightly to calm herself down.
“I didn’t simply call a stop on it. It was because I found that there was a serious underlying condition in your records. This operation has more disadvantages than benefits for you. As a doctor, I have the right to make choices.”
Shen Qieyi clearly explained the reasoning. She had to delay the time to wait for the security guards to come.
When a patient was as angry as this man, he usually couldn’t think rationally.
After listening to her explanation, the patient was not angry but laughed. “You found an underlying condition? When I got into the operating room and was about to get operated on, then only you took a good look at my records? This is your cheap and worthless medical ethics?”
