We Couldn’t Find Her

Book:CEO'S OBSESSION Published:2024-6-2

Still searching for Rose, the both girls ran towards the big hall that was located at a corner of the eatery, that ball room was meant for people who wished to dance and party. It looked like a club but the only difference between it and a club was that the ball room is always open from 6am to 11pm while the normal club only operates at night.
Mara and Annabel ran towards that ball room as they pushed the door open and met the crowd. Inside the ballroom were different colours of sparkling lights which made the room look so colourful. As they walked in, because of how crowded the room was, they met with so many obstacles which slowed their search. There were different kinds of people that stood as an obstacle to hinder their search. Some were drinking and dancing, some were just dancing alone or with their partner, some just sat comfortably on the chair as they observed with a bottle of different kinds of drink.
As Annabel and Mara continued to move and search for her, they used their eyes to scan the crowd. But still, they couldn’t find her. The two girls spent over thirty minutes searching for her at that ball room and when they couldn’t see any trace of her there, they decided to leave. They left the ball room as they walked outside, wondering where she had gone as Annabel started regretting allowing Rose and permitting her to sit alone. Annabel hated herself for this whenever she remembers that she had every opportunity to had stopped Rose from leaving their sight but didn’t make use of it.
After some time, they were now outside of the ball room and that was the scene that caught Annabel’s guards eyes as they ran towards the two girls.
“Ma’am, we didn’t see her.” One of the guards said to Annabel but because she wasn’t in a happy mood, she kept mute and didn’t respond.
Annabel stood for some time without saying a word. It was as if words were far from her. She was in a confused state but then, she remembered something.
She remembered that Rose had gone with her phone to that playing garden as she immediately brought out her phone from her little fancy purse. When her phone was out, she searched for Rose’s number and sent a call. The phone rang but no one was picking. She called the number for the second time but it also gave her the same result. She got scared the more as she continued to call Rose’s number. It rang countless times but no one was also picking up.
Meanwhile, as she was calling Rose, everyone stood in front of her waiting to hear Rose’s voice but when they saw Annabel calling Rose non stop, they assumed that Rose was also not picking calls.
With the worry in everyone’s faces, they trembled in fear.
“Where could she be?” Annabel asked herself as she walked around in her Confused state, trying to remember where Rose could have gone while Mara stood at a spot and wasn’t talking. She allowed her mind to do the calculation without any form of distraction. Calculating the possible place Rose could be in because that eatery was their favourite and she knew that Rose knows every corner of that eatery and as for the guards, they walked around, approaching people and showing them Rose’s picture that was on Annabel’s phone. Trying to ask people if they had seen her anywhere somehow but the people they had met with so far also confirmed that they hadn’t seen such a person.
Mara and Annabel were still at the standing position as a call came in.
She looked at her phone screen to see who it was and when she saw that It was David,, she picked up the call.
On the phone….
“Baby…” the voice on the other end of the call called as Annabel replied.
“What’s up? Where are you?” She asked.
“We just arrived now. Where are you girls? So we can come over to meet with you people.” He asked and after his question, Annabel replied to him. She told him where they were before she ended the call and after a short while, David and Daniel met with them.
David and Daniel were now with the two girls while Annabel’s bodyguards continued the search. After the two men arrived, they noticed that Rose wasn’t with them so they decided to ask.
“Where is Rose?” Asked Daniel.
“She didn’t come with you girls?” David asked.
Annabel and Mara hearing their question didn’t know what reply to give to them. They both didn’t know how to start. They just kept mute as tears threatened to fall from their eyes and immediately David and Daniel noticed that they moved closer to the both girls. David hugged Annabel while Daniel hugged Mara as they tried to calm the both girls down.
“What happened?” David asked.
Both girls were still being hugged, Annabel replied. “We can’t find her baby. She was just here and… actually we were all together.” She pointed at the eatery building. “But then she told us she wanted to sit at the playing garden and… and we allowed her. We watched her seat on this place.” She pointed to the direction where they last saw Rose as she sobbed and continued to speak. “Only for us to look at her seated position after some time but didn’t find her any more.” She cried.
“Have you girls searched for her?” David asked.
“We have. We searched everywhere but Still can’t find her. My guards are still searching for her and they haven’t returned yet. Baby… I don’t want anything to happen to her… Please help.” She sobbed.
David and Daniel heard what Annabel had said but never stopped to wonder where and how she left without Annabel’s bodyguards seeing her.
“Have you informed the manager of this place?” Daniel asked as Mara replied.
“No, baby.”
“Let’s inform them. At least they would go through the CCTV camera of this place. Don’t cry… you both shouldn’t cry. We will find her.” Said Daniel as he caressed Mara’s hairs from her head that was placed on his chest.
After Daniel’s speech, they all agreed to inform the management as they started to work towards the management office but before getting there, “Annabel!” A voice shouted and when they all turned to the direction where the voice came from, they realized that it was Rose who was calling Annabel as they all stared at each other in awe.
She wasn’t looking hurt, she wasn’t looking someone who was sad, she looked kike someone who was just coming back after a long walk. She wasn’t looking as if she was ambushed. In fact, she just looked normal as she continued to lick her ice cream while walking towards them.
Once she approached them, she saw everyone’s faces. They weren’t smiling at all. What they did was look at her with the anger that was so obvious in their eyes as she stood in front of them all and started looking back at them. Wondering what has gone wrong and what she had done to deserve such a look.
After everyone had stood for a while without talking, Rose decided to break the silence.
“Huh?” She said as she licked her ice cream again with her big eyeballs shining and looking up at them.
“Where were you?” Asked Annabel.
“I met an old friend so I took a walk.” Rose replied.
“You know you scared us right?” Mara added.
“I’m sorry if I did. I’m actually sorry. My intention was to take a little walk and then come back to my seated position. I never knew I would take this long. I’m sorry… It’s been a long time since I met with her and as I saw her today, I decided to take a walk. I’m…” she paused and looked at everyone’s angry faces and continued. “I’m sorry.” She pleaded.
Annabel and Mara wiped their tears as the both girls walked towards Rose and gave her a warm hug at the same time.
“Please don’t scare us this way again. Okay?” said Annabel as Rose nodded. And when Rose saw the little tears on Mara and Annabel’s eyes, she wiped them off and gave both of them a passionate hug. One after another.
Meanwhile the both gentlemen stood and watched the emotional scene before them.
After they were done hugging, Annabel made a call with her second phone to her guards to inform them to stop the search and that Rose was back and when she did, her bodyguards returned to her, gave her back her phone, and went to stand at the standing position.
After Annabel was certain that her bodyguards had returned, she brought an idea that they should chill out together and when she remembered what Rose had said about meeting with an old friend, she decided to ask.
“Emmmm… Sister, where is your friend you talked about? She can come and join us if she doesn’t mind.” Said Annabel as Rose agreed with her. After sometime, Rose called her friend and told her what Annabel had said as she agreed to it and told Rose she would be coming to meet with them soon.
