Spring, 1999
Judith paced around her small room, bringing her hands up to rest on her belly. Why was it taking so long for Morris to come and visit her? Had he finally abandoned her? It had been seven years since he married Patricia and she was still here waiting for him to fulfill his promise to her. He told her he would marry her, she was the one he really wanted by his side, not Patricia.
Ugh!! That woman made her skin crawl. Who was she to think she could have everything she wanted? Patricia had everything any woman could dream of, she had everything Judith wanted. Her parents were extra rich, like the kind of wealth only a few could dream of. And not just that, they had willed a multimillion dollar company over to her from one of their many companies. And to top it all, Patricia was married to the man to the man she loved….
The only problem here was that Morris didn’t love Patricia, he loved her and that was the only power she held over her boss, Patricia. Yes!! She used to work for Patricia as her personal maid and she had to watch in envy everyday as Patricia ate the tastiest foods and drank the richest wines, she was green with envy watching Patricia everyday as she wore expensive dresses, accessories and mixed in with the rich and elite.
She had everything!! Judith thought angrily, still pacing around her small room. She had to stay here, scrambling for a better life while a random lady had everything she wanted without even trying too hard. Maids and chefs scurried around fulfilling her orders, armed bodyguards bowed when she walked by, top business associates shuddered when they heard she was attending a conference. She was so young and yet, she had so much wealth, fame and power….
Her wealth, fame and power, Judith wanted it. All of it. But first, she was going to get the one thing Patricia wanted the most. Morris Scott.
Foolish woman, Judith thought as she smiled cynically. Back then, Patricia had known that Morris didn’t love her, her parents even disapproved of him believing that Patricia deserved a better man of higher standard and more wealth. But naive Patricia had been so ‘in love’ and adamant about her feelings for Morris who had been her parent’s personal driver at that time. Despite everything, Patricia chose to marry him anyway.
If only Patricia knew why Morris really agreed to marry her seven years ago….
Morris was like her. He yearned for more in life at the expense of anything. When you are a mere driver and you receive so much attention and love from the rich daughter of an elite family, and she is ready to marry you and even put her multimillion dollar company in your hand and name, what do you do even if you hate her parents so much for treating you like trash? You marry her and use her wealth to build your dreams….
And after that, you get rid of her and any child that comes from her.
And immediately after that, Morris will finally marry her and they will rule over Patricia’s empire. Even Patricia’s parents won’t be able to do anything. Judith laughed as she remembered how bitter and angry they had been when Patricia said she must marry Morris. They had threatened to disown her but Patricia had remained adamant, insisting that they could get separated from her if they wanted.
And that was the end. Her parents abandoned her and left her to deal with whatever decision she made at the end. Judith sighed. Thinking about it, Patricia’s parents were very ruthless to begin with. They treated the poor like trash, like they were nothing. They didn’t even care about Patricia, they only had interest in her because she was a good tool for marriage into another elite family, a way to get more connection and power.
Too bad, Judith didn’t care about Patricia one bit, neither did Morris. Even though she had been kind to them, it didn’t change anything. They were going to use and ruin her just the way her parents had ruined them. Morris still seethed in anger whenever Patricia’s parents were mentioned in any conversation. He hated them with every bone in his body and he had vowed to get his revenge for the pain they had caused him.
Some people would call it greed, Judith didn’t care. All she had to do now was tell him about their baby growing inside of her. Her child would be a better choice as the CEO of this company, better than Patricia’s disgusting son, George Scott.
The door to her room swung open and Morris strolled in. “Judith…” He embraced her gently.
“What took you so long to show up?” Judith yelled at him, fuming in anger “Are you already sick of me? Do you prefer Patricia to me now?”
“You know that’s not true…” Morris voiced out. He reached for a chair and settled on it. “… It’s not easy to come here whenever I feel like it. Patricia knows the closing time for all workers in Imperial Hub Limited. If I stay out for too long continuously, it’s going to become very obvious that I’m seeing someone. Judith, I can only see you once in a while as I’ve been doing in the past”
“What do you mean by that?” Judith glanced at him, her anger rising higher. She tried calming her nerves as her emotional state was not good for the baby. No matter what, she must not lose this baby, this was her easy ticket to getting access to the villa. She must find a way to live there. “Am I supposed to stay here alone while you stay with that irritating woman? You don’t even like her so why is it taking you so long to get rid of her and marry me?”
“Judith…” Morris sighed. He was personally frustrated with how everything was going. Patricia had put her company in his hands for ten years, a way for him to show if he was capable of handling it well. Yet, here he was five years in and the company was crumbling gradually every year, all because of him. He couldn’t continue this way, he only had five more years to prove himself or he would lose access to the company forever. Judith didn’t understand the stress of growing a company, she didn’t understand that it would take a long time before he could take over Patricia’s company and then marry her. “It’s not like that. I need to get the company in order first before i can mar-”
“So you’re saying I’ll be stuck here? For how many more years?” Judith yelled. She could not live in this place anymore while Patricia and Morris enjoyed the finest luxuries. “I can’t do that. You have to get a room ready for me in the villa soon.”
Morris glanced at her, confused by her statement “What do you mean?”
Judith whispered “I am pregnant with your child, Morris. If you don’t find a way to give me access to live in the villa within the next three months, I am going to march right there and expose my pregnancy to Patricia by myself”
