CHAPTER 10
Twenty years old James Scott settled on a chair in his bedroom flipping through a magazine about ‘Traveling around the world’. He felt so content just sitting there, immersing himself in what he really had an interest in. His twenty-first birthday was in four months’ time and he knew his mother would come nagging once again. James sighed, he was tired from all the ways his mother stressed him.
He must have seen a vision because his mother barged right into his room with a frown on her face. Judith halted her steps and peered at him, her eyes narrowing when they landed on the book he was holding. James could already see the imaginary steam seeping out of her ears as he stood up to greet her.
“You’re reading these irrelevant travel books again?” She hissed, wrinkling her nose in disapproval “Is this what you should be focusing on? You’re supposed to be studying business books and resources. Not this nonsense”
“Why should I read business books?”
“How many times must I repeat myself before you get my point?! You should be looking for ways to take over this company from George” Judith yelled, her jealousy evident on her face. “He’s not fit enough for the role – by his looks and ability”
“If it’s about his looks, I agree. Based on the company’s standard, he is not fit. If it’s about his capacity, I disagree” James muttered defensively “He is doing a good job, an excellent job in fact, -”
“Will you shut it?!” Judith was enraged. Was this man in front of her , even her son? Where did he get his soft heart from? She had big plans for him and yet, here he was defending the person who should be his enemy. How stupid of him!! His father already preferred him to George, which gave him easier access to get anything he wanted. All he had to do was tell Morris he wanted to be the CEO and his father would find a way to make it possible. But no, he would rather hide in his room daydreaming about traveling around the world….
Those traveling books and his misplaced priorities irritated her so much. Who on earth would exchange a multibillion dollar company for the experience of ‘traveling the world’?
“You know it’s true. Everyone can see he is doing a good job in managing his share of the company…” James muttered quietly, refusing to give his mother the answer she desired. Over the years, she had tried hard to poison his mind towards George and his mother. It had never worked. James had eyes of his own, he always knew who the real tyrant was. “… Why are you so obsessed with him? We’re not even in the right position to decide who takes over this company”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“If you think about it, We are not really part of this family, so we have no right to make any decisions about who becomes the heir of the company”
“We are part of this family….” Judith screamed, her chest heaving with anger as she knew what he meant by his words “…. how dare you say we aren’t part of it?”
“Mom!…” James yelled back in exhaustion, he was sick of her nonsense attitude. She had to win an award for the most angry woman on earth. She never got tired of yelling and getting on people’s nerves. “We are not part of this family, father never married you!. That’s why everyone calls you his mistress, you nee -”
The sound of skin smacking another skin filled the room as Judith’s palm slanted across James cheeks. Her eyes were filled with indignation at the truth behind his words. James staggered backwards by a few steps and raised his hands to his reddened cheek, anger clouding his mind. He lost it.
“What is it, huh?!” He barked. “Are you ashamed? Do you feel pity for yourself, huh? You think I don’t know about it? That you greedily married another woman’s husband thinking you could take her place? That you tried to use your pregnancy to force father to marry you so you could have access to this family and their wealth?”
Judith glared at him, her eyes warning him she would hit him again. She despised him at this moment for the hidden truth behind his words. If only she could get rid of Patricia, she would have everybody that was linked to Imperial Hub Limited bow to her in respect instead. She was supposed to be the one by Morris’s side during the red carpets and international events, not Patricia. Morris loved her more than Patricia, so it should be her. Now, she wants James to fill up the CEO position of this company so she can put Patricia in her place, finally. But he was as stubborn as a goat, determined to frustrate her.
“I have no idea what you are talking about. All I know is that you’re meant to be the one running this company and I won’t rest until you agree to my demands” Judith stated firmly.
“Do you know what your problem is?” James whispered “You like biting more than you can chew. You make me tired”
Judith ignored his statement. Turning around to leave, she held the door knob tightly and mumbled to him “This time around, I won’t hold back until I get what I want. I’m willing to do anything, anything at all to get what I want.”
To be considered as a valid option of becoming the CEO of this company, you had to reach twenty one years. In a few months, James would be fit for the role. All Judith had to do was get rid of the people in the way of her victory. And she would do just that.
~~~~~*~~~~~
Rachel wandered around the large hall in George’s villa, observing the intricate artworks that graced the walls. She couldn’t believe it had been two months of being married to George and living in this villa. Somehow, she had been able to bring her ‘hormones’ under control that day by avoiding him – only coming near him when it was time to eat or meet with his family. She even waited for him to sleep first before entering the room, scooting over to the edge of the bed every single night – afraid that if his hands mistakenly touched her, she would lose her senses again.
George seemed to understand that she didn’t want their sexual escapade to repeat itself and he had kept his distance too. But that didn’t stop her from noticing the hungry look that filled his eyes when she walked across the room or the tempting ever present bulge in his trousers that distracted her sometimes…
Keeping her hands off him had been hard, and she was glad he was making things easier for her by keeping his distance too. Though lately, it seemed he was losing his patience. Rachel heard the maids greeting someone and made her way down the hallway to see who it was….
“Wow, look at you. Just two months of marriage and you’re literally shining. You even look better than you did last week” George’s mother remarked when she saw him. After his accident, he had become a shadow of himself, she was happy to see the light in his eyes once again “Your marriage looks good on you”
Rachel came forward and greeted Patricia, only for George to put his hands around her waist, pulling her closer to his side. “Yes, my lovely wife here has been so good to me….”
Really? Rachel thought, still standing beside him. When was she ever ‘so good’ to him? She had been avoiding him for two months and not just that, his hand on her waist was distracting her. Her eyes almost fell out when George moved his hand from her waist to her ass and pressed it gently. Right there. With his mother standing in front of them! Thank goodness she didn’t notice that.
“Are you okay? Do you feel well?” George’s mom whispered in her direction “Why is your face so red? Are you sick?”
“Oh, it’s alright. I’m fine” Rachel whispered in embarrassment. If only she knew what her crazy son was doing to her behind…
“You know, it might be a good sign,” Patricia responded with a smirk on her lips. “I’m not trying to put pressure on both of you…but I would love to see my grandchildren before I get too old”
Rachel froze on the spot. What?! She could see where this conversation was going. George chuckled beside her and she wanted to punch his face for a moment.
“Ugh! Not this right now mom. You’re still young enough. You can wait” George murmured, still distracted by the feeling of Rachel’s soft ass in his hands. He actually wanted children with Rachel, though not now. She was still avoiding him and won’t let him close. The thought of it annoyed him and he made up his mind to deal with her later…. sexually, of course. He would make her yearn for him. The image of her beautiful breasts had haunted him for the last two months. He was still pissed with that maid. Really.
Rachel was in a daze. Grandchildren? Who? This wasn’t even a real marriage to her and she was already hearing about ‘having children’. She wanted to laugh. His mother was probably joking.
“George, I’m serious about this” Patricia looked at them “The both of you need to try harder and make me a grandmother quickly, okay? What’s the use of having so much money if I can’t spend it on my little grandchildren?”
“Alright mom” George patted her shoulders to calm her down and teased “We’ll get to work quickly. How many grandchildren do you want? Will five be enough?”
Rachel turned her head sharply, glaring at him while he avoided her eyes. He must be out of his mind. Five? Crazy man…
Her cell phone dinged and she checked to see what it was while George and his mother bantered on about grandchildren. A message from Sophia popped up:
_______ “Hey girl, hope you’re good? I’m extra busy this week. We need to talk. My crew finally found juicy evidence for your father’s case.
Ikr…I can’t believe it’s finally happening!! Soon, you’ll get to know the truth behind everything. Got to go now. Be expecting my call next week.” ________
Rachel felt like crying right now. All her years of waiting were paying off. Finally, her father would be set free and the culprit brought to justice.
