CHAPTER 27

Book:SEDUCING A COWBOY BILLIONAIRE Published:2024-6-2

When he came out of the gate, he immediately started running slowly. Brett did the same. He knew he also listened to music while running because he was also wearing headphones. So, does it really just need a running companion? Why would he be annoyed if he didn’t want to talk to her.
Just near their subdivision is the Marcelo Fernan Bridge or better known as the new bridge by the locals. He knows that at such times, many joggers are on the bridge especially on weekends.
The cold air perched on his skin as he climbed the bridge. As he ran, he also looked around. In fairness, the view from the top is beautiful. The bridge has a specific alley for bikers and runners so it’s safe from moving vehicles.
Rachel stopped for a few minutes to smell the sea breeze and stared at the boat passing by under the bridge. She’s confident that the view would be even more spectacular during sunrise. She was about to run again when someone has bumped into her. She swayed at the impact, but Brett came immediately to her rescue. Then he heard him call the other person by the name she hated the most.
“Bettina, fancy meeting you here.” Said Brett.
“Hi, Brett, nice meeting you too. So, you’re still Rachel?” Bettina looked at the woman who had been her rival to Brett from head to toe.
Rachel arched her eyebrows upon hearing Bettina’s voice. They had a score to settle and she’s about to lose her control. But he thought they were in a public place and it was not good to look at the scandal. He tightened his grip on Brett’s hand then gave Bettina a fake smile. “Yup, we’re still Brett. I believe we are meant to be together. Don’t you think?” he artistically replied to the woman who even at dawn was still wearing lipstick.
“I think you’re right. Hmmm, Rachel, I’m really sorry. I didn’t want to lose your son, your son Brett. I’m really sorry,” he said. conscience because of his role in Rachel and Brett’s life.
Rachel studied the woman’s face, and she thought it was sincere in asking for forgiveness. But not. He cannot forgive it lightly. He chose to ignore what Bettina said and ran away from the woman. Because if he didn’t stay away, he might even push it off the bridge and become a criminal! As he ran, his chest throbbed with anger and annoyance. It was as if Bettina and I had an argument only yesterday and quarreled with the worthless man Brett Morgan. He said it was useless, but he gave up a few times.
When he turned around, he noticed that Brett had not followed him. Maybe, he missed Bettina so much that he left first. Pwes, he will take care of his life! When he got to the footbridge near the elementary school, he climbed there to go to the other side of Marcelo Fernan, back to Mactan.
He accompanied a group of Koreans who ran up the bridge. He tried to dismiss in his mind the meeting between the three of them and Bettina earlier. Wait, didn’t those two really have a conversation? Inwardly, she was seething just at the thought of that bitch. He accelerated his run even more so that he could go home.
“Rachel! Rachel, wait for me,” she heard the man’s voice call her name but she didn’t turn around. He will suffer!
Rachel gasped hard at what she had done before she realized she shouldn’t have done that. He looks like a fool. So what if they meet Bettina? He shouldn’t have been too affected by that scene because they were no longer with Brett. And he shouldn’t care if any woman comes near it. So what if something happened to them? “Oh, why are you alone, where’s Bettina?” He asked the man when it could catch up with him.
“She’s with her husband. Wait, are you mad?” Brett noticed something strange in the tone of Rachel’s speech. Calm but arrogant.
“You mean, you’re having an affair with a married woman? My God Brett, can’t you control your libido?” Her voice rose that for the second time Bettina stabbed them.
“You made a mistake. It was the first time I saw her again since the night you had an accident!” Brett tried to explain but Rachel’s ears were already closed. She formed her own judgment already.
“Shhhh, you don’t have to explain. I understand,” he lied.
“Thank you, sweetheart.” He hugged the woman, regardless of their sweaty bodies.
When they got home, Rachel never touched Brett again. He went straight to his room to change his clothes, then looked for Carter. He caught up with the child at his mother’s workstation.
“Mom, what do you think about buying more stocks from Jollibee?”
Rachel recalled about Jollibee’s international expansion. “Why not?” And because it is still early, it is not yet possible to buy stocks online. He invited Carter to eat first. Brett and Francis are already at the table. She was still mad at him over the incident at the bridge. He sided with Francis and Carter sided with Brett. Brett put a scrambled egg on the child’s plate and then smiled at him. He frowned at it.
Brett was surprised by Rachel’s behavior when they came home from jogging. “What’s wrong?” He asked this.
“What’s wrong with your face,” Rachel replied and Francis kicked her.
Brett’s forehead furrowed even more when Rachel spoke as if angry at him. He looked at Francis to see if he knew anything about Rachel’s problem but he just shrugged. “Do we have a problem?” He asked again.
“Nothing to say,” he replied.
