“Are you alright?”He asked as he slowly blew some air to her face, trying to get her hair off it.
“Yes I am, are you?” She asked as she tried to get off him but apparently, she was stuck.
“What’s wrong?” He asked as his eyes slowly made way to her chest and he saw that her necklace had become stuck to his. He chuckled, “seems we’re destined for each other” he told her with a naughty smirk on his face.
“Are we really?” She asked as she gave a sly smile. “I don’t think so” she told him, winked before slowly untangling the necklaces.
As she untangled the necklaces, he couldn’t help but stare at her, looking into her eyes and wondering what was so special at her that made her so irresistible to him. He closed his eyes, he couldn’t take it any more, he could no longer control himself as she was on top of him, he had to stop this for he was afraid he’d do something they would both regret later on.
He slowly wrapped his hands around her waist and she couldn’t help but stare at him as using one arm around her waist, he got off the floor and they stood opposite each other. “Let me handle this” he told her as he put his hand forward and started untangling them.
It was now her turn to do the staring, she was lost in his eyes and hands as they moved in perfect synchronization, moving from chain to chain as they untangled.
“Damn!” She muttered under her breathe
“What’s wrong?” He asked her as he raised his head to catch her staring at him.
“Nothing” she told him as she shook her head, trying to get her head to stop thinking about such things.
“I’m done with this” he told her and she smiled
“Thanks” she told him and just as she made to turn, she saw the broke pieces of glass. “Were you trying to protect me from this?” She asked with a smile on her face.
“Yes I was, no biggie ” he told her with a smile on her face and she chuckled
“Of course” she told him and just as she was about to leave, she turned again and gave him a light peck on the cheek before rushing back downstairs.
He rubbed the spot where she’d just given him a little kiss as he rubbed it lovingly, how did only a peck have so much effect on him? Was she a witch? He shook his head, he was starting to think like a fool now, she wasn’t a witch. He knew she wasn’t so how did she have this much of an effect?
“You’re still standing here?” She asked him, bringing him out of his dream land.
He shook his head, “of course not, I have to go freshen up. We’re leaving tomorow after all” he told her as he walked out of there in a hurry, he didn’t want to wait to see what would happen if he stayed with her for another minute.
She shook her head as she bent to pick the broken pieces, “what a weird person he is”
.
As Daniel let the water pour on him, he couldn’t help but reminisce all the moments he had spent with Kathryn, how they had run around the house like little children with no one to bother or stare at them like they were weirdos and it felt so good but then… immediately a but came into the picture, a frown came up his face.
If they returne to the city, there would be no way he’d spend so much quality time with her! He was starting to rethink the whole going back to the city stuff!
.
Kathryn smiled to herself as she slowly combed her hair, memories from her and Daniel making her blush. She slowly wrapped her hand around her waist as she recalled how he’d wrapped his hands around them.
She was even more smiles when she’d recalled the kiss she’d given him and how he’d saved her from getting injured and she had to admit, she was starting to feel bad about them going back to the city.
She knew if they went back to the city, they wouldn’t be able to spend quality time with each other. They wouldn’t be able to act like the little children they’d come to become but what could she do, it didn’t matter what she wanted, he had to go back to his work.
She was sad but her feelings didn’t matter in things like this and she couldn’t also bring herself to understand why she was feeling so sad. He was just a human afterall. She had never felt so sad about not being able to spend so much time with someone so why was she feeling this sad?
She rolled her eyes, maybe it was because she’d just come to enjoy his company. There was nothing more to it, she tried convincing herself.
While she continued to brush her hair, there was a knock on the door. “Come in” she said and Daniel walked in.
“You didn’t even care to know who it was at the door” he told her
“Who else? We’re the only ones who live here” she told him as she got off the seat.
“I knew, I was just joking ” he told her with a smile and she immediately looked away, she couldn’t control herself when she saw his smile. Looking away just had to be the best option.
“Okay then, I guess you’re ready and we could leave now?” She asked him.
“About that, I wanted to say something ” he told her and she stared at him.
“Of course, what is it?” She asked him as she tied her hair into a high bun while still staring at him.
“I don’t think I want to go back to the city ” he told her and she stared at him even more before eventually bursting into laughter.
“And why don’t you want to go back all of a sudden ?” She asked him
“I don’t know, I think I’ve just come to enjoy staying here” he told her and she walked towards him before placing her hands on his shoulder.
“I’d also come to enjoy this place but then you have to get back to your work, claim your shares and a lot of things so I’m sorry, we have to go back ” she told him, using his own words against him.
He chuckled, “I guess you’re right” he told her.
“I’m always right ” she told him and they burst into laughter.
.
As they walked, Kathryn stopped at intervals, she had a strange feeling, a feeling something was about to go wrong.
“What’s wrong?” Daniel had asked her. “You’ve been turning for some time now, is everything alright?”
She inhaled deeply, ” I don’t know, I just have a bad feeling. I feel someone is following us and there is danger ahead” she said
“These are just instincts. You’re going back to the city after so many days so you’re nervous” he told her, trying to provide her assurance.
“My instincts are never wrong” she told him and just as they made to continue walking, they heard a rough masculine voice speak.
“And how would they be?” On turning, a wooden stick came into contact with her head with so much force that she staggered backwards.
