Jefferson’s POV
Celina is really persistent. I didn’t want her to go but I was sure that she’d insist, so I had to agree with her so she wouldn’t get mad at me. I contacted Noli and asked for help and referred to me a good bodyguard that could look after her when she leaves. Although I asked him not to show up in front of her because she would only get mad and would only think that it was only a waste of money.
I am going to be very busy in the company because I am having a hard time trusting people again, after Noris and a few board members did that to the company. Having someone to look after Celina wherever she goes will put me at ease, so I’d rather spend it even if it was so much so that I could work properly.
“Sir, Ma’am Celina is in the company now,” Lester, the bodyguard, reported.
“Thank you, just be careful not to show yourself and let her know that you are watching over her. I didn’t want her to get mad at me, OK?”
“Copy that Sir,” he replied, and we ended the call and then I continued working. After a few more hours, Lester texted me telling me that my wife was walking out of her company and he was still following her until she entered the cafe. She stayed there a little longer before she went out with a woman headed for the parking lot. So I called him,
“What do you mean parking lot? She didn’t tell me about leaving or going anywhere other than in that cafe.” I said,
“But they were in the car now and the way I see it, she came willingly. She was even smiling and talking to her client.” he replied,
“Are you still following her?” I asked,
“Yes, Sir. The woman drives slowly and carefully, so I think she was thinking about Ma’am Celina’s condition.” he replied, and I sighed in relief. Judging by the background sound, I think he was driving a motorcycle as he followed them.
“Alright, update me from time to time.” I said and hung up- I made sure to keep my line open so I was always available anytime he called.
15 minutes had passed and I was already receiving a call from him, so I took it. “Sir, the woman was driving a little faster after they passed the intersection. I have a bad feeling about it because they were on their way to the expressway,” he said.
“What!!” I exclaimed as I stood up. I was sure that she would never go to a place that far in her condition. She was very careful because of the baby and she knew that having a drive like that was not good for her. “Follow them and tell me where they’re going. I will get the helicopter ready.” I said and hung up to call for the pilot and then wait for Lester.
While waiting, I tried to call Celina but it just rang. I did it repeatedly until someone answered, “Celina!” I exclaimed,
“I’m sorry, I am not Celina. I found the phone here in the cafe. It continued ringing, so I decided to answer the call.” the woman replied,
“Which cafe?” I asked and she told me that it was indeed the cafe near my office. “Alright, thank you.” I said and ended the call. Celina would never leave her phone. As much as possible, she would have tied it to her body to make sure that she would be able to call for help if anything happened about her pregnancy. Now I am really worried and scared for my family.
After an hour, Lester sent me a text message, so I left my office. There’s no way that I am going to let anything happen to my wife and daughter. I was in the air and really worried. One of my friends in college was a chief in the province they were in and called for help. They would be there before me, so I informed them about the bodyguard.
I arrived in Marick and a police officer was waiting for me to help me get to the house where the woman had taken Celina. Lester and the police were outside the house with a woman and I think she looked familiar but ignored her even if she was looking at me as though she knew me. She even smiled slightly at me. “How about my wife?” I asked, worriedly.
“She’s still there, but this woman didn’t want to tell us how many of her accomplices were there.” my friend, Chief Sol, said, so I looked at her,
“My wife might be in danger. Why can’t you just get in?” I asked, angrily.
“We already have men around the house,” Chief Sol informed,
“We heard screaming, there was no one outside the house, so I think there was only one perpetrator inside.” a man on the radio said,
“Alright, let’s go.” Chief Sol told the police with him and started getting in as someone from the inside opened the gate. I went with them to make sure that my wife and baby are going to be fine. We entered each room until I heard Celina’s voice screaming.
“Noooooooo…….” I ran to the closed door and kicked it. I saw red when I saw a man trying to get in between my wife’s legs while she was tied to the bed. I took the man away from her and punched him endlessly, but Chief Sol stopped me,
“Jefferson! Your wife needs you,” he said, and remembered my wife. My heart sank when I saw her state. I covered her with bedsheets and carried her outside. Her face was swollen and she was bleeding. We rode the police car that took us to the nearest hospital.
The nurses and doctor assisted us immediately when they saw blood on Celina. She was brought to the ER and they asked me to stay outside and wait, which I did and patiently waited for the doctor to come out.
After I didn’t know how long, the doctor came out and said, “The patient is safe and so is the baby. But I suggest you talk to her OB Gyne as soon as possible to make sure that everything is OK. We have already stopped the bleeding and all her vitals are normal.”
“Is she safe to travel by helicopter?” I asked and the doctor nodded. She was still unconscious but we still managed to take her back to the city and she was confined to the hospital where her doctor was. She looked into her and the baby as soon as we arrived and she suggested having a cesarean section. She was worried that something might happen to the baby, especially when she saw trauma in Celina’s stomach.
“Do what you seem fit, just make sure that she’s fine and the baby.” I said and she arranged her team to start the operation. I waited outside the operating room feeling scared about what might happen, then dad came, who looked really worried as well. I feel like it was a thousand years before her doctor came out with a smile on her face,
“Congratulations, they are both safe and healthy. We just need to put the baby in the incubator because she is only 7 months old, but rest assured that they are both out of critical condition.” she informed us. Dad and I sighed in relief and he hugged me.
“Thank you doctor,”
“You’re most welcome, Celina will be transferred to her hospital room. You can wait for her there.” she said and left, then we followed the nurse that would show us Celina’s room. I was thankful that nothing happened to her, but as I remember how she looked when we found her, I don’t think she will be OK when she wakes up.
