Jefferson’s POV
My curiosity aroused when I saw how serious dad was. “Dad, I want you to know that I am very happy with my life now. Especially when I am going to be a father soon, so you can tell me why you chose her to marry either of me and Noris.” he sighed and looked at Celina. It seemed to me that he was worried about my wife, so I waited for him. I didn’t want to force him when he’s not ready,
“Dad, it’s fine if you can’t tell us yet,” Celina said as she held his hand. “I have no regrets about my decision too. I would still have run away from my adoptive parents if you had not asked them to marry me off to your son.” She added.
“I just didn’t want to hurt you. You’re like a daughter to me and I can see that you can’t remember your past.” Dad replied” You to my wife”. I didn’t know anything about Celina, so telling him that made me feel worried as well.
“Dad, I am too happy now to think about my past. Yes, I will be sad, but to succumb to that feeling and hate the world, that’s not going to happen. Trust me, I have already accepted the worst of my past,” Celina assured him. He inhaled deeply and started telling us why,
“I was sick and afraid that I was going to leave Jefferson alone in his early life. I had a heart problem but I didn’t want him to worry, so I took care of myself like I take care of him.” Dad said,
“It was when he was a teenager. Since I have a heart problem, my doctor, who was also my friend, suggested that I should undergo a heart transplant. He already told me and had me on the waiting list that I needed a donor.”
“You underwent heart surgery and didn’t tell me about it?” I asked, surprised. “When did that happen? Why didn’t I find out about that?” I asked continuously and my wife held my hand, comforting me.
“Remember the time when I told you that I was going on a business trip that would take at least a month before I came back?” He added and I nodded. “It was during that time.” He added.
“Celina’s father is my donor.” Shocked was an understatement. Celina looked at him, confused.
“Your father is my organ donor. He and your mom enlisted themselves to become a donor. When they were found, they were dying. I know because I had it investigated and, as I already told you, my friend is also my doctor.” He said and I looked at my wife and my heart broke when I saw how sad she was. “I tried to find you, even asked as many investigators as I could but failed.” he added,
“How did you find her then?” I asked,
“She was sent to the orphanage without proper procedure, she was not reported to be involved in both accidents because she was found two days after, walking. The one who found her took her to the orphanage and no one related her to the accident. She was really persistent that she asked her adoptive parents to send her to school and while she was working, naturally, she would process her legal documents. That’s when I started looking for her again.” dad answered and looked at Celina,
“I did some investigations, and I found out that she was a very smart girl, so I didn’t think twice and continued my plan, thinking you or Noris would be lucky to have her. Without the Nicholson’s knowledge, Celina graduated with honors. Those two didn’t bother checking her out when Celina showed them her fake grades and credentials. She was wise enough to hide her true self from the couple, and I knew that she was planning to leave them sooner or later. I also had a feeling that Celina agreed to this marriage so she could get out of the couple’s house. She thought marrying you would be the best thing for her, so she wouldn’t need to hide from them in the future anymore.” Dad continued. “Son, I knew how Wendy treated you. She was seeing someone else at the same time and only wanted your money. If Wendy really loved you, I would never force you into this marriage. I could help Celina in different ways as well. But this idea is the best. Either you or Noris marry her, and any of you would be lucky.”
“I am indeed lucky, dad. About Wendy. I found out about her after our wedding.” I admit,
“So you—” Celina said,
“No, my Celina. I don’t fu** out of frustration. It was because you are so beautiful and very hard to resist.” I explained because I didn’t want her to think that our first time was because of Wendy’s infidelity. I held her hands tight so she wouldn’t be able to leave her seat.
“How did you find out about Wendy?” I asked dad, “My Celina, I am only curious and nothing else.” I said and she sighed.
“I started suspecting her when you told me that Wendy was a very understanding woman and that you never had a fight. Are you kidding me? I love your mom so much, but despite that, we still fight over a very small thing. Women, I believe, wanted to be pursued even if they were already with their husbands. It was in their nature. That’s why your mom and I had a little fight so I could woo her and she would forgive me. That is what made me love her more,” he replied. I do understand him. Every time Celina would get mad over little things, our little make-up sex was the best.
“So I had Wendy investigate and follow up. Even though I had already received solid proof of her cheating, I didn’t stop. The investigators followed her for 6 months. They even said that I was already wasting money on the continuous investigation when I already had their reports, but I insisted. She won’t make any escape if she makes a scene and will only humiliate herself.” That’s reassuring when Wendy tries to show up to try to do something stupid.
“When you exchange your vows, I was touched. You may have not noticed it, but others as well. I don’t think that anyone would think that you didn’t love each other. And then you kissed her. I was so happy. Now, the two of you look very happy. I am glad that what I had thought during your wedding day finally happened. Who would have thought that the arranged marriage that I planned for Celina to have a better life would lead her and my son to a glorious life?” Dad said, smiling.
“Thank you, dad.” Celina said. She looked happy now and I was glad that she was. “I didn’t want to think about what could have happened if I ran away from our wedding. I am just so happy that I didn’t. As for my parents, I think they were both good people and I am proud of them. Thank you for taking care of my dad’s heart. That might be the reason why I liked you the first time we met.” she added, and dad smiled.
After our conversation, dad stayed for dinner. We are very happy, especially me. I thought that dad wanted me to marry my wife just because he wanted to, but it was because he knew that Wendy is not good for me. He must have thought that it would hurt me if I found out that I was being cuckolded, but I know to myself that what hurts me more is my ego than my heart.
Living our life right now seems like a dream, and I hope that everything will be OK from now on between me and my wife. Of course, my relationship with my father and Noris. I want everything to be better.
