Jefferson’s POV
I want to laugh at what the faces of the board looked like after Celina told them what she wanted to say. She must have been gaining courage because I was there. The meeting ended with a stupefied look on everyone’s faces. Even Noris was surprised. Speaking of him, does he really think that he will be able to do what I can do for the company? Is he out of his mind or was he waiting for this to happen?
Noris never asked dad for anything or about the company. Well, he wasn’t deprived of his rights and, as much as possible, dad wanted to give him everything he needed. I don’t see any reason for him to actually act greedy, as though he was the rightful owner of the company.
It was my mother who was with our dad when he grew up the company. Together, they built it until it was strong and big. His mother, on the other hand, chose her family and married someone else. Celina handled the bank for 3 years and I was proud of her. Daria played an important part because she relayed my messages and concerns to my wife and I was glad that she really did her best.
Because Celina believes in me, I shouldn’t disappoint her, right? I need to take action as soon as possible and prevent the issue from escalating even more. The company is at risk and I will see to it that whoever is behind this will be punished accordingly.
After the meeting, Celina and I went home. I had been very busy and instead of working in her office, my wife came to my office to try to help me out. Just what kind of husband I am that I let her suffer like this. “Thank you, my Celina.”
“For what?”
“For being with me,” I replied and hugged her. We just went into our bedroom and she was ready to freshen up.
“It’s nothing. You are my husband and I need to protect whatever was yours because it was mine and our future kids as well. There’s no way that I am going to let anyone or Noris get what was yours and mine.” she replied,
“Speaking of Noris,” I said.
“Yeah, he seemed different,” she said, so it wasn’t just me. She noticed it too. “It never occurred to me that he would be interested in the company. I mean, we have known each other and he never bragged or told me about who he really was. I just knew him to be just as simple as he appeared,” she added.
I told her that he wasn’t like that before and the fact that he never attended any of the company meetings may it be because of some problems or just simple financial report meetings. She nodded her head and I think she was thinking the same as I do.
“There’s no harm in taking precautions, right?” she asked,
“You mean?”
“I didn’t want to think about it and I can’t see any reason for him to do that. But, everything is possible,” she said,
“Well, he likes you.” I told her and she looked at me with a creased forehead, “What? You didn’t think that he could do this because of you?”
“I don’t know, I mean, I am not worthy enough for him to do all of this, right?”
“You’re belittling yourself, you’re priceless. You are worth every wealth in the world.” I said and kissed her, “And I am so lucky that I have you.” I added when we gasped for air before I kissed her again. We freshened up together and, of course, it didn’t end just like that. I had to make her feel how much I wanted her and I wanted to hear her scream my name.
After two days, Luigi came to my office and was shocked by what he had told me. “One of the board of directors asked the hacker to do that.”
Although I knew that they wanted me out of the company, I still couldn’t believe that Mr. Green would actually do that for me. He is not the type to meddle with the company’s business as long as he receives his profit, and I had been diligent in making it possible all the time.
“Are you sure that it was him?” I asked in disbelief.
“The account where the money was transferred was from one of his associates. I don’t know if it was really him, I can only tell you where the money came from” he replied.
“Is it possible to know whether that was the case or not? I mean, I have known him and he is not the one in my mind who could possibly do it.”
“Give me another 2 days and I am going to try and find that out.” he replied, “I informed you about him today just in case he was one of the people that you think could do something like that,” he added.
“Thank you, then see you in two days.” I said and he left my office and I started thinking about what we had talked about. Is it possible that Mr. Green was not happy with what he received? I don’t think so. If he does, he could just call or talk to me personally and I’m certain that I am capable of explaining things to him.
Having someone who had a grudge against me working for the company is very alarming. I know that there have been some times that the company lacked compassion for employees, but that was only because they had done something unethical or had any money-related issues. I don’t tolerate those two and could be the reason for me firing anyone who was proven to violate those.
I looked into the company’s social media account again and saw that everything was getting smoother compared to the first day. But there were still some malicious comments and I wanted those out. The issue has been taking a long time and I want it to end already.
Three days had passed, but Luigi had not been contacting me. I started to think that he was having difficulty finding out the truth and I was thinking of getting another expert that could help him with it. Just as I was about to call Daria, my phone rang. “Hello,” I answered,
“Mr. Scott, it’s me, Luigi.” the caller said,
“You wouldn’t believe that, it’s Mr. NorisManchester and I’m sure of it. I had to trace all the transactions he made and it all ended in the hackers’ account,” he said, and I sighed heavily. Even if I am not fond of him, I still give him the benefit of the doubt. I know that he loves my wife, but going to this extent is unforgivable. I am already feeling sad for dad.
“Thank you, Luigi.” I just said and we ended the call. Do I have to deal with him myself, or let dad talk to him? What should I do?
