Jefferson’s POV
I woke up early and I saw Celina still sleeping. I wanted to wake her up and talk to her about what our problem was, but I decided to do it later. I will have to do it in time as well, because we will be leaving for Kenom tomorrow and get ourselves prepared. I got up from bed slowly so I would not wake her up, and then went to the bathroom and took a bath.
After I was done, Celina was still sleeping, so I got dressed and went to the office. Susane asked me to eat first, but I told her that I would be eating in the office instead. Celina was still sleeping and I didn’t want to eat alone.
“Sir, the interview for the secretary is ready.” Daria told me as I sat on my chair and I nodded. I don’t know why Daria had to be this early all the time. As far as I know, she had a husband, so she should do something first before she went to work or after work.
“Don’t you have a husband?” I asked her and I noticed her eyes widened before she nodded. “Then why are you always this early? You even get home a lot later than me,” I added.
“I’m working, so I should do my job,” she replied. Although I understand her reason, I don’t think that was actually the reason.
“Do you have a problem with your husband?” I asked her, “I don’t mean to fry, but I am curious.” I added.
“Did you fight with mom Celina?” she asked, although I don’t get why she had to ask me that and I wonder how she found out about that as well. I still nodded my head in agreement.
“Thought so, you are early today.”
“Does that mean that you and your husband fought as well, that’s why you are already here?” I asked and she just kept quiet. “Is it something big?” I asked, I was worried about her too.
“Very big,” she replied,
“Then you should be there and try to work things out.” I told her.
Her eyes widened and shook her head, “No way, after he had not called me the whole day yesterday, there’s no way that I am going to talk to him!” she exclaimed and I was stunned. Did she just tell me that the reason for her acting this way was because her husband didn’t call her yesterday?
“You may think that I am very shallow. But he made me feel like the most important person in his life and did not fail to call me from time to time, then suddenly he wouldn’t. What do you think I would feel if it was you?” she said, and then I thought about my Celina. I didn’t call her yesterday either, so does that mean that it was because of that as well that she was acting like that?
I smiled which didn’t go unnoticed by Daria, “Did you fight because you didn’t call her either?” I looked at her and scratched the back of my head.
“I don’t know, but I did not call her yesterday either,” I replied.
“And you are waiting for her to call or talk to you?” she asked and I nodded.
“There’s no way that she’s going to do that. She might not come with you to Kenom tomorrow if you are not going to talk to her first.” she replied and, as though she remembered something, “Because it was you, I’m pretty sure that you’re not going to make the first move to talk to her either.” she added and I glared at her. Maybe she noticed that I was irritated, so she left my office immediately.
Is it because of that? I rested my back on the chair and started thinking about what had happened yesterday. No matter how much thought I put into it, I still couldn’t think of any possible reason that I did that could make her mad at me. Is it really because I didn’t call?
Doing what I needed to do today and finishing everything so I will have peace of mind when me and Celina are in Kenom. Thinking Daria had her own personal problem, I should be considerate to her now that I know the feeling of having a misunderstanding with my wife. She must have felt annoyed all the time just like me.
“Sir, the interview is ready,” Daria said.
“I am going to have the interview here.” I replied and she nodded. I started to clean my table because she would be coming after a little while with the applicant. Then I heard a knock once again and Daria came in after I said come in with the applicant. She motioned the applicant to take her seat and Daria left us.
“Tell me about yourself,” I said as I leaned on my back and waited for the applicant to start.
“I am Bree Marie and I am 24 years old. I had been working in an industrial company as a secretary in Marick and since my parents decided to move here to Croas, I had to resign and look for another job. I work efficiently and can work with minimal supervision at first. I am a fast learner and guarantee that Ms. Daria will have no trouble filling me up with everything I need to know,” she answered. I can tell that she was confident, so I like her.
“I work with my colleagues harmoniously and will be happy if we could work well together. I like to be here because of the fact that Scott’s group provides their employees with training and seminars and I would love to learn something new from time to time. I can say that even if I have already worked as a secretary for two years now, I consider my cup half filled and needed to be filled.” she added.
“I like that you are confident and I will be happy if you stay that way while you work. I wanted confident and competent people working with me because I am the type of employer who doesn’t like to repeat myself.” I told her and she nodded. “You will be having an additional examination and your employment will be defended on the result.” I said and dismissed her after.
I was left alone in my office again as Daria was with Bree doing her exam. I just hope that she will pass it because I want to find a secretary now to help Daria while I am away. It was lunch time and Daria gave me my food and reported to me that Bree had passed the test and I felt relieved.
“I guess you will have someone to help you when I am away then,” I told her.
“You know that I can handle it even without a secretary,” she replied, and I laughed at her. She must be really pissed with her husband that she didn’t consider receiving help from a colleague.
“You will be needing her, believe me.” I replied and started to have my lunch and so she did. She gets out of my office and I’m pretty sure that she will hurry with her meal to do her job.
One thing I was certain about Bree is that Daria didn’t complain about her. I may have not heard a few compliments, but not hearing any negative comments from her was something as well.
Work is over and I was glad that I managed to finish everything. Now, I had to go home and face Celina. It was really because I never called her yesterday that made her mad at me, how much more now that I still didn’t call her. She must have been really pissed and I feel excited about our reconciliation. After that may lead to rough love-making later.
