Chapter 14

Book:The CEO's Mistress Published:2024-6-2

Dominic and I didn’t have a good relationship for a few days. Finally, I had no choice but to snub him because he would typically ignore me. I finished my duties, including cooking and cleaning, and then I went back to my room.
I was alone and alone in my room when I realized that the moment had arrived for me to move forward. As soon as Dominic returns home, I should discuss my wage with him. I couldn’t wait any longer, and I needed to get away from the folks who had been causing me to worry recently.
Keith visited me one night, but his timing was off. Dominic was inebriated and in a bad temper. I couldn’t understand Dominic’s thoughts when I glanced at him, but his reactions told me he didn’t appreciate seeing Keith’s face in his house.
With that in mind, I refused to let Keith into the house and instead spoke with him at the door. “Why are you here, Keith?” I inquired.
He responded, “You stopped seeing me.”
I lied and said, “I’m just busy.”
“I miss you, Marian,” he said.
I couldn’t sense the meaning of what Keith said, even though the statement itself was lovely.
I corrected him, “I don’t think we’re in a relationship where you can miss me.” Is he assuming that we’re dating? It couldn’t possibly be!
“Have you made up your mind yet?” It’s been three days,” he said, counting down the days since I last saw him, which irritated me for some reason.
“Not yet, Keith,” I say. I’m sorry, but I still have to serve my boss,” I said, shielding myself behind Dominic.
Keith said, “I started to suspect that he’s not just your boss,” and I panicked and looked at Dominic. “Do you have a relationship with your boss?”
Keith made me avoid my sight since he acted envious about nothing. “What if I have?”. Another lie came out of my mouth automatically, and I became an expert at lying over time.
“Ah, I see. Why don’t you pay a visit to my home? Come on, and I made something tasty at home.” Keith invited me over to his house to sample the delicacies he had prepared.
“What are you doing right now? I’m still working on something, and I’m not sure if Dominic will let me leave his house,” I said.
“Come on, Marian, you can do it. Let’s go; it won’t take much of your time.” Keith insisted, and when Dominic slammed the middle table loudly, we were both taken aback.
As Dominic stood up and moved towards us, my hands trembled. I was terrified at the prospect of him being aggressive. My gut prompted me to put myself in the way of him and Keith.
“Keith, this isn’t the proper time.” I pleaded with Keith to leave, and when he hesitated, I shoved him outside and shut the door behind him. “Dom, you need to practice controlling your emotions.” When it came to Keith, I realized that he was easily enraged. “For the love of God, he’s your friend!”
“I warned you not to put your faith in him!” I rolled my eyes at Dominic when he insisted on his point of view.
“Let’s assume you can’t trust him. Do you have to be enraged every time you see him? Are you envious of the fact that I frequently spend time with him?” I tried to gauge his reaction, but all he did was stare at me.
“I am envious!”
I was taken aback when he replied and walked away. I believed he was inebriated, but he walked great when he surprised me with his outburst of emotions.
As he ate his dinner, I followed him to the dining table and sat across from him. “You don’t have to feel envious of Keith,” I meant to add, implying that Keith was nothing more than a crush.
He said, “Just don’t mind me,” and returned his attention to his food.
Dominic refused to look at me like if I had a contagious sickness, and I moaned. “Can you tell me why you like me?” I dared to ask him the question I’d meant to ask for a long time. I knew it was juvenile, but of course, it was important to me!
“Does it make a difference? Go to your room if you have nothing else to do.” He brushed me aside with his hand as if I was a lowly creature in his presence.
As I saw his movement, my eyes blinked several times, and I couldn’t figure out why he was so enraged by my query. “It’s still early, but I think I need to get some fresh air,” I informed him and proceeded to the door without waiting for a response.
“Either stay put, Marian or go to bed!” He screamed.
I turned back and looked at him with my brows furrowed. “You stated that I am not a prisoner here.”
“Of course you’re not, but you have to heed my words every time because I’m your boss.” He insisted, and I shook my head in refusal to listen to him.
“You’re inebriated, Dominic. Please go to bed early. You’ll feel rejuvenated and possibly less enraged tomorrow morning.” I garbled the words, but I was confident he would understand.
Even though it was still early in the evening, I couldn’t find anyone on the streets. So I went north till my emotions subsided, and I was able to regain control. Then, after I’d traveled far enough, I walked carefully back to Dominic’s house, where Keith, by chance, was waiting for me outside. It would have been easier if I had seen him ahead of time. But it was already late, and he was blocking my way.
“Please let me pass,” I said.
He continued, “We have to talk, Marian.”
“Not tonight, okay?” I insisted and tried to go, but he grabbed one of my arms by force in a second. “You’re causing me pain!” I tried to wiggle away from him, but he was much stronger than I was. “I told you, you were harming me!”
As I kicked Keith in the groin, I yelled at him. He didn’t give me a choice! I didn’t want to hurt him, but I felt threatened when he grabbed me by the throat. He was hunched over in pain, but I thought he earned it! “You should think twice before you provoke me next time.” With my chin up, I cautioned him and marched towards the door.
Keith implored me to help him, but I ignored him and went inside.
“I was under the impression you were a damsel in distress, Marian.” Dominic’s voice astonished me when he said, “I didn’t expect you to kick someone’s groin without feeling sorrow.”
“I thought you were respectable, Dominic, yet all you did was stand by the window and watch your friend torment me.”
I went to my room to rest after Dominic, and I exchanged some angry words, but I was astonished to see a new phone on my bed. Of course, I wasn’t expecting Dominic to get me a phone, so I took it outside to inquire about it.
Was he trying to act as my sugar daddy? I shivered at the thought of being a sugar baby. Gosh, I couldn’t imagine myself being in a position of receiving something from a guy. It’s against my system and principles!
“Can you tell me how much this costs?” Rather than being grateful, I inquired about the cost.
He said, “It’s worth a year of your pay.”
“One year? I’m sorry, but I’m not up to it. I told you I couldn’t stay here for a long time,” I said as I walked away from him, dropping the phone beside him.
“Why not, Marian? Why aren’t you able to stay longer?”
I came to a halt on my path when he asked. “I’ll go home in a month, Dominic,” I replied.
“All right, if you say so.” He stated his case.
I went back to my room, but Dominic followed me inside with the phone in his hand. “Can you tell me what you’re doing?” I queried as he stood motionless in front of me, without blinking his eyes, which made me uneasy. I averted my gaze because I couldn’t bear looking at him without becoming nervous.
“I need to confirm something,” he said, and without saying anything else, he drew my body towards his and kissed me passionately.
