Zeux’ P. O. V.
I can’t look at Vanessa right now because of what I did to her the night before. I’m not even sure where I got the courage to hug her. What is going on with me? Am I going insane? I was never like this before. But why does it appear that I have changed? Is it all Vanessa’s fault? Why does she appear to have such a strong influence on my personality? What’s the matter with her, and why am I acting this way?
“You look like a crazy madly in love with her while looking at her picture on your phone. You’ve been staring at her picture for almost an hour now!” Jason exclaimed as he sat in front of me.
“I’m sorry if I’m behaving in this manner.”
I turned off my phone and placed it on the table. When Jason laughed so hard at me, I was taken aback. He stopped laughing and looked at me for a moment before laughing again. I punched him in the arm, but he still laughs. He’s very strange.
“What? Are you stupid or something? Why are you laughing so hard? You irritate me!” I yelled.
His face is now flushed from laughing so hard as if there was no tomorrow. “Okay, Zeux, I’m sorry. I just can’t believe you say sorry to me while you’re acting like that!”
“What?” I asked, puzzled.
“When did you learn to say sorry? You never say sorry even when you’ve done wrong. It’s just that… I can’t believe it.”
I shook my head. “You’re a weirdo. It’s just a simple apology, but you make a big deal out of it.”
I take out my phone once more and look at Vanessa’s picture. I’m not sure what I’m going to say to her, but I really want to talk to her right now. Maybe I just need to act like nothing happened. I do miss her. And she should be grateful because I’ll never miss someone like her.
“You know what, Jason… she must be happy because I miss her when we’re on business trip,” I said solemnly.
His eyes widened. “You what?” he laughed again. “Did you just miss her? Oh, Zeux! You’re madly in love with her! I can’t believe you’ve discovered how to fall in love again! ”
“What?” I ask, pretending to laugh. “Me? Do have feelings for her? There’s no way. I really like her. That’s it. There is nothing more or less. You must be exaggerating. I’m not in love with her, Jason. I only like her because she is unlike any other girl I’ve met. Maybe I liked her because she gave me a thrill and didn’t just give in to me.”
He raised his brows. “What do you mean? You just like her because she is not easy to get?”
I shrugged. “Maybe? Well, yes. You’re right.”
I turn off my phone and take up the folder in front of me. Jason must not know how I truly feel about Vanessa because he will not stop teasing me. Jason is a talker, so Vanessa will be aware of it. And I don’t want Vanessa to be uncomfortable with me. I will do everything in my power to avoid harming her. Even though I’m tempted by her smile, I’ll try not to touch her.
“You know, Zeux, maybe you don’t have enough sex, and that’s why you’re acting like that with Vanessa. Let’s go to the club later; you need to taste women again so that your body can function properly and you can think,” he said.
I quickly shaking my head. “No, I don’t want another girl right now. I still need to observe Vanessa and see how far she can go, how long she won’t be attracted to me, because I won’t let her not like me. It’s very unfair on my part.”
He’s stopped teasing me, so it’s quiet around me. I try to concentrate on reading the many papers in front of me, but I can’t. I stood up and went to a department where Vanessa worked. While I’m walking, the employees greet me, but I just look away and don’t care. Vanessa is laughing with her coworkers, as I can see through the glass window. I literally smile because she is cheerful.
I entered the department because I noticed Blake was close to Vanessa. Everyone freezes and stops talking, staring at me as if surprised to see me.
“G-Great morning, S-Sir…” said one of my employees. I gave her a small smile.
“Good morning. I’m just checking in to see how things are going in each department.”
I simply look at their expression. There was a startled reaction. Then I noticed Vanessa, who was staring at me. I smiled at her, but she averted her gaze. She was so adorable.
“As far as I can tell, you’re having a good time talking to each other.”
“I’m sorry Sir if you overheard us talking, but we’re just taking a short break before returning to work,” one of my employees explained, and I noticed her nervousness.
“No, it’s okay. I understand. What I mean is that it’s nice to see you all here having fun with each other, and I guess it’s good at work because you can’t feel tired, right?”
“Y-Yes, Sir,” they all laugh, but I can sense her awkwardness. I return my gaze to Vanessa, who is smiling at me. I guess what I just said made her happy.
“How are you? And you, Mrs. Wilcon, the head of this department, how are they here? Are they doing well in their work? Are there any problems, and if so, are they resolved quickly?”
I could see Mrs. Wilcon’s surprise when I asked her. I believe I was too violent and rude to them because they responded in kind. When I speak to them, they are both surprised and nervous.
“Y-Yes, Sir… they work very hard here. Actually, Sir, there is no issue here. And we appreciate Vanessa because she enjoys making us happy. Her chattiness and stories provide us with solace while we work.”
I look at Vanessa, and she looks at me awkwardly. “Wow! That’s good to hear, Vanessa. I guess you’re a really good employee her. I like you now,” I said, smiling broadly.
“What?” Her face flushed as her eyes widened in response to my question.
“All right, then, I’ll go ahead and let you continue talking to each other, but don’t talk for too long because you’re all here for work, understand?”
They all nodded in agreement with what I said. “Yes, Sir. Thank you, Sir.”
I simply smiled at them. And before I leave, I wink at Vanessa. What a lovely face she has.
