I made a quick decision, I realised that Nick made a mistake but he knew exactly what he did. My mother always said the best man that I can find is an honest man. I believed that.
I wrapped my arms around him pulling him tightly. He moved his hands down my back and pulled me tighter.
” Does this mean we can end this break” I heard his mumble as he held me against his chest.
I lightly smacked him. ” yeah I guess it does” I said smiling into his shoulder.
As we finally leant back I pressed my lips onto his. I tasted mint and instantly craved more.
“Selene, your lip” he whispered stopping the kiss.
I pouted. ” No, don’t do that” he shook his head, his voice deepening.
“just one” I said in my most cutest voice that I could manage.
That was all it took for him to press his lips onto mine.
He was being very gentle, completely not what i was used to with him but nonetheless it felt good to finally have his lips back on mine.
After our brief kiss Nick used the shower as i went to find him clothes for him to wear. He still had a few clothes that he left the last time he was here. Its gotten to the point that he has a space in my wardrobe.
I placed the shirt and pyjama pants on the table in the bathroom and left to go and make some hot chocolate.
By the time i had finished making it and brought them upstairs, Nick had finished with the shower. He was using a smaller towel to dry off his hair.
” Are you tired, we could watch a movie if you want” i said placing the mugs on the side table. I grabbed the remote and turned on netflix.
He said nothing but quietely walked over and placed a kiss on my shoulder. ” i dont mind what we do” he whispered.
I smiled as i grabbed the remote and searched through the movies, looking for soemthing we could watch.
“Have you ever seen this” i said hovering over the movie called the big short. He stared at the screen and shook his head.
“Do you think i have the time to watch movies on netflix Selene” he said laughing.
I shrugged ” you have time for me so you have time for a movie or two”
He pulled me down onto the bed. ” that’s different and you know it”
I started the movie as we silently sipped at our hot chocolates. I kept glancing at Nick as he laid down, his eyes were focused on the movie.
Makes me wonder if he actually has time for himself. He is working all the time. I consider myself lucky for having him all to myself.
I moved unde the blanket and cuddled up to him. Nick moved his arm around me pulling me closer to his warm body, i inhaled the scent, the one i missed.
Half way through the movie he hadnt said anything to me, he suddenly started to rub his thumb over my shoulder. Almost like he remembered that i was here.
I couldnt believe he hadnt seen this film, it was brilliant especially if youre into business which Nick is.
” Is this how you do your pitches?” i asked after a big scene where ryan gosling pitched to a bunch of important business men.
” No, I’m definetely much more cooler” he whispered pressing his lips to my cheek.
I grinned ” cant deny that. I bet you’re a real ball buster in the board room” i said imagining Nick standing in his tailored suit commanding the room like always.
” A ball buster” he looked confused before he cracked up laughing.
I slithered my hand over his chest as i leant into him even going as far as wrapping my leg around him.
” you comfy” He asked, arching his brow.
I moved my hand down and underneath his shirt. Instantly i felt his toned abs underneath my fingertips.
“Now i am” i said with a smirk. This didn’t go unnoticed by Nick.
” behave yourself, i really like this movie” he said, going to push my hand away. I pressed down into his stomach.
I’m not going anywhere my actions said. After attempting to move my hand away he relaxed back into the bed.
I didnt try anything else, i wanted him to watch the movie anyway and i was tired especially after everything that happened tonight.
I would probably have to deal with rumours about tonight tomorrow morning but thats a task for tomorrow.
I lifted my head up and pressed my lips onto his. ” Can you turn off the light after the movie” i said snuggling down into the pillow, my body still wrapped around Nick.
” ofcourse, good night Selene” he whispered, his fingers moving my hair from my face. I felt the feather like kiss on my lips before i closed my eyes.
I woke up to an alarm going off, it sounded exactly like mine but i know for a fact that i didnt set an alarm for this morning.
I opened my eyes and watched Nick lazily climb out from the bed. His shirt was trwisted and his hair was a mess.
He peeked behind me after successfully switching the alarm off. ” youre working?” i asked. I mean it wa a stupid question but i had hoped he wouldnt be working today.
He nodded, it was only half 6 in the morning. He was clearly tired still.
Nick walked over to my bathroom to get ready. I picked out a white buttoned down shirt and laid it on the bed ready for him.
I really didnt want him to go. I dont know how i would have survived if he didnt come over last night. I felt so safe in his arms.
He finished in the bathroom and started pulling on his work trousers and the clean shirt i gave him.
” I only have meetings this morning, you can join me if you want” he said when he noticed me staring. I relaised that he could see my reflection in the mirror.
I fiddled with my phone. ” No, i dont want to get in the way”
He shook his head. ” not a chance, you’d disturb me 20 minutes away cooped up in here anyway” he said casually.
” I’ll go shower” i jumped off the bed ready to run and get ready. Nick locked his fingers around my arm pulling me back.
He wrapped his arms around me. ” Dress sensibly and smart. Its a high profile meeting today” i nodded.
I didnt care that he was telling me what to wear and how to dress. This was his business, his office, his meeting. I respected that.
I ended up taking the quickest shower ever and grabbing a tight but long dress that covered my shoulders. I paired it with a beige blazer and a pair of heels.
Nick waited patiently in the car for me.
We arrived to the office quickly. As soon as we entered, his assistant walked over and handed him a hot coffee and started saying a bunch of things.
” Get Selene a coffee too, shes joining me today for my meetings so set that up aswell” the woman glanced at me confused.
” dont ask” Nick said pulling me with him in the direction of his office.
When the door was shut he turned around to face me.
” You’re highly respected here selene, they wont mind you sitting in” he said picking up my chin and kissing me gently.
Nick rushed over to his desk and pulled out a black file. ” i want to build a block of studios right here” he opened the first page showing a map of the city. He circled it with his pen.
” i need to make sure that our partners are confident it will boost economy by building a multistorey gym here and offices down here” he said moving around the map.
” sir, its time” his assistant poked her head inside.
Nick grabbed my hand and walked into the room. Men and women were talking amongst themselves but when Nick walked in they shut up and sat down.
They gave nick all their attention, the respect was there and it was ubelieveable. I could never command this attention ever.
” Good morning, Selene will be sitting in on todays meetings, I’m sure your all aware of her amazing work in the fashion industry”
Nick introduced me. They all looked over at me. Some smiled and some just stared.
“Lets get to work then” I sat down two seats away from Nick. I listened or more importantly watched Nick from a far.
He spoke with maturity and elegance as he went through his presentation. It amazed me that he could remember statstics without looking at his file or the screen.
The men and women around the table werent afraid to ask questions at every step but Nick was completely prepared for it, not even breaking a sweat or stuttering.
I thought he was delicious at that award show, just him in his element is turning me on.
” We already have gyms in this area, why waste our money on another one” one of the women asked after Nick fully went through his plan leaving it open to questions.
” Gyms in this area are extememly high priced and are made for the 30-50 age bracket. People see to forget about this area growing in student accommodation and young professional living. We need variety and i dont it will waste any of your money, only grow it”
She seemed impressed with his answer and led with no further questions.
” Selene, could you expand on the sporting industry within this area, i believe you have more expertise than any of us here”
I was suprrised to even hear my name. I looked over to a man who i actually recgnised. ” Mr Hansen, i think you’re well aware of the trends but i’ll gladly give my personal take” i smiled at him.
Daniel Hansen was a leading sport investor, he runs two major sport organisations here in europe.
” Nickolas is right. We re building the city to meet the demands of the high class 30-50 age bracket we forget that over half of the cities population is 30 and under. More and more people are joining gyms, they are adopting the sport athleisure style and living generally healthy lifestyles. Our industry is dependant on these people and Nickolas is creating great opportunities in the city for them and also for you” i finished my sentence with a deep breath.
I was nervous but i was sure that i said nothing wrong.
” beautifully said ” Mr Hensen said inresponse. I braved a look at Nick and could only see pride as he winked at me.
The meeting soon concluded after a heated 2 hour meeting. Nick’s plans were accepted with full support from everyone. When i stood up and made the move to leave the room i was called over.
The women who questioned Nick pulled me to the corner.
I gulped, i was nervous. ” Don’t look so scared, i just wanted to come and give you a warning”
She looked around before facing me again. ” my brother is the owner of a news agency in london. I believe that tomorrow news will come oout about your incident last night and i wanted to warn you so you and nick could get a head start on the rumours coming your way”
I had to step back. I hadnt imagined that anyone in here would know yet.
She held my arm. ” Joshua has already come and provided a statement i am told” she informed me. I jumped slightly when i felt Nick wrap his arm around my waist.
” thank you Natalia, we will handle this as quickly as possible” Nick left no room for a reply when he dragged me out of the room and into the office.
” dont disturb me ” he said to his assistant.
As soon as i was inside the office his arm came round and slammed the door shut.
” It was Joshua wasnt it, he was there?” Nick said his hand tightening on my arm.
I lifted his chin, he was getting angrier by the second. ” But didnt Josh tell you about the attack, how did you know then?” i asked confused. I had assumed that he knew because josh felt bad.
He stared t me. ” no, it was your dad that told me Selene, was joshua the one saying those thing about you thinking i was a prize”
I widened my eyes. That was enough for Nick. ” it was wasn’t it. I’m going to kill him” Nick moved away from me, i watched head over to his desk and reach for his jacket and keys.
I ran over and pulled his arm ” you can’t do that, he was just trying to help, a weird way of doing it but he wanted to prove to me that you cared for me, please nick, calm down” i begged him.
His eyes were full of anger. ” Help, where was his help when you were getting attacked outside then”
We both knew he was right, but josh didnt know.
” exactly Selene”
My fingers slipped from his arm as he marched out of the office, letting the door shut behind him.
