He walked up to me and handed over the newspaper to me and left my office, when I saw the first page and the headlines boomed my mind, I would say I was preparing myself for this but still the pain in my heart right now was unbearable.
Marco’s POV
It was the news of my Angel getting engaged to her Duke friend at the end of this week, I didn’t move or I would say I didn’t breathe for a few seconds, I don’t know how I will prepare myself to see her getting engaged to someone else.
She will no more be mine; I don’t have the right to stop her. Tears started rolling out of my eyes without me even realizing.
I noticed it when tears started falling on the newspaper continuously. I wiped my tears and tried to make myself strong and said to myself,
“Marco, be strong you have to spend your life with her memories, you can’t live like this, think of Andy, you have done this yourself, you can’t blame anyone, it’s all your own doing”
“She was with you but you didn’t value her, you didn’t cherished her, she deserves happiness in her life which you never gave her”
Jane’s POV
I woke up the next morning, freshen up, and went for breakfast, my Dad was already at the table, Ethan was also here, he comes home often now, and spends time with Ancy, but the fact is, he comes here for Amelia.
I sat next to Dad, my Dad looked happy today; I asked him, “Dad, you look happy today?”
He replied with a smile, “My baby, just trust your Dad and live your life well”
I was puzzled by his answer but before I could say anything more, he left the table saying he is done and leaving for office.
I looked at Ethan and said, “Bro, I want to talk to you”
He smiled and said, “Yes my dear sister”
I and Ethan are like real brother-sisters, it feels like we have this bond from our last life, it didn’t take us much time to have the bond which we are having now.
I walked out of the dining room saying to Ethan, “Follow me”
He being my obedient younger brother followed me, we both headed to my study room.
I snapped at him the moment he closed the door, “You really like her or she is just a crush for you? Or you will leave her once you have her?”
Ethan immediately understood about whom I was talking, he said with a stern face, “Sis, I love her and I want to spend my life with her”
I was so happy to hear this, I hugged him smiling ear to ear and said, “I love you brother, and I am very happy for you”
Ethan smiled and said, “Thanks sister, but I need your help, I want to tell her about my feelings but the moment she comes in front of me, my world stops and I don’t get the words to express my feelings”
I smiled and said, “Bro, don’t worry you sister is here”
He kissed my forehead and we headed out of my study.
I and Ethan left for our offices, today when I entered the office everyone was looking at me but the way they were looking was different.
I was unable to hold and I asked Niya, “Why are they looking at me like this?”
Niya looked at me puzzled and said, “Mam they all want to congratulate you”
I was utterly confused; I frowned and asked, “Congratulate? For what?”
She replied with a smile, “Mam, for your engagement with Mr. Albert White”
My mind boomed at this news, I can never think of any man apart from Marco, even if we are divorced, I can spend my life with his memories but I will never have any other man in my life.
I rushed to my office and dialed my Dad’s number, and said the moment he received the call, “Dad, what is this all?”
I can feel my Dad smiling and he said calmly, “Jane, do you believe your Dad?”
I was confused at his question, but I know I trust my Dad more than anything so I said, “of course, I do Dad”
He again said, “Than sweetheart just follow what I am doing, believe me you will get your happiness”
I hung up the call with mixed emotions, anger, anxiety, nervousness, fear, and many more.
Jane’s POV
My mind was in a mess, I called my mother-in-law or I would say my Ex-mother-in-law to release some stress, even though Marco and I are divorced but my relationship with his parents never changed and it will never change.
They are a blessing in my life.
I heard her playful voice, “Hello my sweet little heartbeat” I smiled at the way she addressed me, I think this is a family habit, my mother-in-law always calls me by a different name, just like Marco never called me Jane, he always called me Angel.
I said, “Hi Mom”
She replied, “Congrats, sweetheart”
I felt pissed and I said in an annoying tone, “Mom, you too?”
She said laughing, “What’s the problem dear, in congratulating my daughter for her engagement”
I said, “Mom, you know whom I have in my heart”
Her tone immediately changed to serious from playful, “Yes, I know who is in your heart, the person who didn’t cherished you”
I don’t know what to say after this, so I tried to change the topic, “Mom, can you we have lunch together this afternoon, I want to meet you”
She happily said, “Of course, baby, send me the address I will be there”
I said, “Ok, Mom I will do it right away”
She hummed and was about to hang up the call when I said, “Mom, till when you are not going to talk to him?”
She paused for a moment and said, “Till he get punished for all his wrong deeds”
